I have a test jar that I have been playing with. As I see any abort starting I fill the jar complete with water and try to save them 😉those lit jars with zippies was an amazing idea 💡
I ate 2g of aborts last week. Had a lit bit better flavor I would have to say. Slower they grow the better flavor. Fruits in colder climates have a lit bit better flavor. I only harvest the bigger aborts. Always leave the small ones
A note on flavonoids: flavonoids are almost always white to yellow. The bluing is caused by an enzyme breaking down psilo- molecules and joining them into a molecule that closely resembles molecular indigo. The aborts' tissues start to break down and these enzymes get released, similarly to how a mature fruit will blue/blacken when squished. The myc are doing this to break it down further and transport the basic nutrients to the favored fruit bodies. It's not "getting stuck" as compounds build up like a little chitin balloon chem factory; it's actually doing the opposite by un-doing itself. High flavonoid contents will actually prevent the bluing effect as flavonoids are anti-oxidant and oxygen is needed to create the pseudo-indigo. This is why water added to dried powder causes it to blue -- the oxygen in the water molecule serves as the oxygen source, similarly to water on iron/rust.
After reading your comment and watching the video I started to think. If mycelium stops giving nutrients to the abort and the abort breaks down what happens next. Is the mycelium doing this because the breakdown of the abort is beneficial to the colony. Meaning the abort gets reabsorbed and helps the colony. Then it gets me to thinking, should the abort be harvested or is it better to let it be reabsorbed. 🤔
I just learned, the hard way, that aborts and pins are stronger than fully grown mushrooms. What I thought was going to be an innocuous addition to my beef broth ended up being a bit powerful so early in the morning

So I've S2B 4 days ago in monotubs. From the advice I've received, I was going to induce fruiting conditions with FAE/mist once my casing layer colonizes a little bit more. Do you introduce FAE/mist immediately when you S2B in the tubs? If not, about how long do you go before introducing FAE/mist? 2. I've heard misting directly onto the cakes could stress the mycelium in the cakes and that I should just spray the sides of the walls. I should be misting the cakes somewhat to get proper surface conditions though, right..? 3. How often should I be introducing fresh air to unmodified monotubs?
I can go into a lot of detail on all these points with my mentorship program, but in short all of these things depends on many many factors. Setups, grows, blue thumb, all of these things will come into play here. It can get really long, I’m going to be live-streaming later so you can ask me these questions there if not mentorship. I will answer the 2nd question now as it is the simplest. No, you should not be misting the walls, always the cake itself. The surface conditions never lie. Don't put fans in a tub. So long as the mycelium has access to air, through passive air exchange, that's all that's needed. Fans will tend to complicate things and also will likely dry out the substrate. Don't use fans, don't fan manually, don't mist until around the first flush. If your substrate has enough water content, there should be no reason to mist until around the first flush.

It turns out the magic trigger word is not cube it’s abort . Let’s call them the little ones that didn’t make it . Everyone should know what you’re talking about.
I'm curious about aborts with oyster mushrooms - which seem to be going yellow/brown and looking dried out... once this starts happening, is there any saving them? In other words, can you save an abort in progress or once you see a change, is it pretty much done?
They are strong. Almost threw them out because I was misguided. Let four or five very small mushrooms dry in the sun, ate them the next day. Damn. I bet they only weighed a gram together and did a job on me.
I really liked the video, literally watched it twice, and am really liking your content, I guess this video really got me because I seen success in a bagged substrate from mushroom supplies of the fruiting, but many lifting ones started aborting but bigger ones came. I really have two questions if it blues/blackens does the fruit still contain nutrients even as a baby, and I pretty much understand you say in maybe the last 45 seconds of your video it is okay to leave them there- the MAJOR question is-- can a mushroom recover from blueing once this has happened 🤨? Thanks again really enjoy your videos, have been lots of help, I know many people will comment on this question for help, thanks to!
If a mushroom aborts, they will still contain the nutrients no matter the stage of growth. They will not unabort, once aborted they’re dead and will begin returning to the mycelium/decomposing
I have a boom room 2. Upped my humidity to 95% I have one tub that has no colonization pinning. The one tub that I have colonization isn't pinning and I noticed the tub was filled with water. Had to pull the tub and pour off the water. Brown in color. Any thoughts?
I read 70% of brf cake pins will abort. I like jar tek I'm familiar with it I have it dialed in .. is there a different substrate I can use in jar tek to get more of the pins to be viable?
@ZeOnetruth I harvested the first flush as they were and they were all aborts but my 2nd flush was super clean because I improved air flow and lessened humidity a little
@jred3806 very nice I'm a beginner mycologist myself but I've been successful in making lc which gives me a rather infinite supply of what ever I need. I was dunking at first but I've been able to get about over a 100 grams no dunk so my modified monotubs are doing really good.
@jred3806 I noticed whenever I dunked it would stress my mycelium out heavily and they would be yellow. I think sealing the monotub is definitely the way to go. In fact they are producing so fast I'm harvesting every few days now. Of course I do play them holy hymns from the creator of the universe as well as edm and reggae or whatever I feel like they'd like. They're my baby's yknow?to provide the healing people seek so desperately but are unable to grasp without the help of an altered state of consciousness....
I had some big aborts and they got like fuzzy on the outside and i harvested them and ate one fresh thinking i eould risk giving them a taste test with one. The mushroom i ate would be 0.3g dried and like hour and half later i was watching a show and syarted to feel the dose and it was like i ate around 3g! I had aborts because thr room got too hot i think wheb i was gone but it was a cool experience and i will try to recreate it with a last spown with my new grow so i can leave all the regular ones for microdosing

I've noticed that my little toothpick sized aborts (which I keep separate after dehydrating) are much stronger than the big healthy mushrooms.
@@bobbybands1957 yeah, they definitely are full of flavour compared to the bigger ones!
Ah yes magical flavor my favorite kind, lol!
Helpful. You answered all my questions plus some I didn't even know to ask. 😂
It turns out the magic trigger word is not cube it’s abort . Let’s call them the little ones that didn’t make it . Everyone should know what you’re talking about.
It is cube
I'm curious about aborts with oyster mushrooms - which seem to be going yellow/brown and looking dried out... once this starts happening, is there any saving them? In other words, can you save an abort in progress or once you see a change, is it pretty much done?
Nope no way to save. Happens with oysters all the time when humidity is too low
Do you know anything about "Dancing Tiger" mushrooms? I'm having a hard time finding information about them.
Coir lover. So they’ll grow just like any other coir lover (GT etc…).
Thanks for the info, you answered my questions
OK i just had this happen..... I Love you Man :)
Cant find your patreon bro has it changed?
Patreon was terminated last year, my website is the replacement! In description ✌️
They are strong. Almost threw them out because I was misguided. Let four or five very small mushrooms dry in the sun, ate them the next day. Damn. I bet they only weighed a gram together and did a job on me.
Tasty :)
Did you have an intense journey or you talking taste?
Thank you🖤
My pleasure 🙏
i love how you're speaking semi code haha
You sir are a legend thanks!
Glad to help!
@@Mycophilia very good to know.. thank you very much!!!🍄🍄💜💜💜
Are blue means great on coco coir? Or dung loving???
They’re fine on both. Stick with coir
🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥
🍁🌲🍀 Just what I needed to see. 🌼🌻🍎 Thanks, Sage.
Here's some mist.
💦 🍄!
I have a boom room 2. Upped my humidity to 95%
I have one tub that has no colonization pinning. The one tub that I have colonization isn't pinning and I noticed the tub was filled with water.
Had to pull the tub and pour off the water. Brown in color.
Any thoughts?
Are white pins a light issue?
They should be white until they grow out more
All of my pins are around the edges nothing in the middle and it looks like they’re trying to ab_rt. I don’t know what to do
The surface is too dry. Check out:

Thanks very informative
I read 70% of brf cake pins will abort. I like jar tek I'm familiar with it I have it dialed in .. is there a different substrate I can use in jar tek to get more of the pins to be viable?
That is widely incorrect about 70% aborting.
BRF has absolutely nothing to do with aborts so don’t worry.
Thank you
3rd pee and all the spores come out the one before that has all the active compounds in a study I saw
There needs to be a alternative to the Government Controlled sensor everything UA-cam... Rumble needs some work just not enough creators/videos yet.
Hey dude, does ur old channel still exist? I'd love to check it out.
It does but there’s no videos on there anymore
Where is this free on your page?
Patreon was terminated in February. I created a website so I’m not beholden to any social media company, link in description.
We all love flavonoid rich mushrooms.
Sure do 😋
Ive had these pins for like 2 weeks and i think theyre mostly just aborts idk if i should harvest or not
How's it going?
Hello! If it's due to contamination, what sould I do? All the best 🍀
This has nothing to do with contamination
Oh, I thought thats what you are saying around 5.33 :)
Awesome 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
How come my second flush is significantly less fruit. I hydrated for 3 hours is that long enough
Most of your energy was used in the first flush
Which is normal
@@Mycophilia thanks for the reply
A little longer soak wouldn’t hurt
I ended up having about 6 flushes. The fruit grew larger but less of a cluster. Very happy with the results in the end
But if u want a second flush... it wont contaminate or rot the next round of mushrooms? sure? idk
No, unless your tub was already contaminated.
Thanks!
Have you even seen little brown spots on stems?
Yes, without pics it’s hard to tell 100% but most likely culprit is pseudomonas (bacteria). Still edible
What mening if they pop up? Also abort?
Pro-Lifeer!!!!
Awesome vid
🙏
any other sites that ship LC already git from ITW but they are out of the strain i wanted
None that I can recommend really
For various reasons
my bday coming this my 1st grow i wabt to avoid all that if i cn
