I am 68, an old Wizard of Oz fan from yearly tv events from the 60's and 70's, and a musical fan...but i havent seen a movie inside a theater in a decade or more (when was the first Fantastic Beast movie made?) I went in hoping i wouldn't fall asleep in a 2 1/2 hr movie, which i can't do at home....i was thunderstruck and delighted the entire movie. It was beyond my expectations overall, while hitting every note of the stage musical songs which i know from original cast recordings. The songs hit, the acting hit, the sets and costumes hit. The first act is Glinda's, and Ariana Grande hits the right notes comedically and musically, while Erivo builds up to, what I expect to be, an unbelievable performance in part 2. Oscar noms should come in double digits. It is big and bold in the best way possible.
I’m very excited too see it and gonna open pretty decent or BIGO according to box office projections and on Rotten Tomatoes 91% on critics 99% Audience score good word of mouth could push this to billion dollar or least close to it
West Side Story, Dream Girls, Le Mis, Chicago, The Colour Purple ( both lead and supporting ) got BAFTA nominations Clearly Baftas like musicals. Wicked is an East End musical show in London too and Erivo is British. What makes you think it wont get BAFTA nomination???
