Yes, because they tend to put their children in the highest standard, highest standards are achieved with trials and errors, and they don't want to see errors from the beginning. No, because it comes from their love for their children. They live in a time where they have to keep fighting relentlessly so they can put food on the table. That era numbed people's feelings. Just not kind enough to step in when her husband was pretty much emotionally and verbally abusing her son calling him childish and saying he's not good or not ready or doesn't work when he's trying. I wouldn't wanna be there 24/7 if I was being constantly belittled and never given a crumb of praise by my own parents, either, if I were in his shoes, so he's totally justified in not being there as often if that's how they treat him.
@@TwilightNecromancerI imagine she was also being verbally and emotionally abused to some extent, as well. When someone finds themselves in that type of situation, being faced with a consistently high level of emotional distress, one gets to a point at which they can no longer physically, mentally nor emotionally , take it anymore. Thus they finally respond to the situation and they will do so by reacting with a fight, flight, freeze or fawn type response. Married women that have found themselves in an abusive or toxic relationship, particularly, tend to react by freezing and or fawning. They will sit or stand there, nearly motionless, in a near complete trance at times and, because they remain so intimidated and emotionally exhausted, they also “fawn” over their abusers. They do so basically without thinking, because their brain is just simply trying to do anything it can to prevent the emotional and verbal abuse from continuing. It’s why you will often see women in abusive relationships choose to remain in them, because their mind has had to adapt to survive and, it can be difficult for someone to snap themselves out of such a deeply ingrained and conditioned behavior / defense mechanism. Now, I’m by no means saying that Joe / Giuseppe is necessarily an abusive man and, he seemingly hasn’t physically abused anyone, that we know of, but, his anger, ignorance, refusal to acknowledge his own faults along with his complete inability, initially, to show any form of empathy, compassion, approval or acceptance for and of his own son and his role in the restaurant, as well as the continual onslaught of the verbal and emotional abuse towards his son, clearly demonstrates that Joe has become verbally and emotionally abusive, likely as a result of the continued stress of trying to run a failing business and the similarly exhaustive toll it has has had on both him and his family. Creating an extremely unhealthy environment that has brought nothing but negativity and resentment upon everyone in that restaurant. Most of what we see here is a family trying and failing to manage the stresses of running their failing business and the results of such an exhaustive and emotionally taxing situation that must be. ultimately, like in many ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ episodes, the restaurant cannot be fixed, until the people running it and their relationships with each-other are first. Otherwise, the personal hostilities and resentments will continue to worsen in, what is ultimately, an extremely toxic environment for everyone involved.
that often happens, especially when the age gap is higher. parents tend to underestimate their children and feel they aren't ready when in fact they are out of touch

I highly doubt "the economy" is why they closed down.

i think the point is. that diabetes is worse then any disease or cancer because you are alive while something inside you is dead and dont work and if you dont be careful youll die anyway. cancer or other diseases will end up killing you. but with diabetes it is WHEN. plus dont forget that healing as a diabetic is very difficult too. so you are vulnerable, have to constantly monitor your blood sugar and health, never mind working as a chef you gotta taste and eat while you work so that may contribute to some health issues. diabetes in a chefs case is the worst thing you could possibly have

Yeah, I was Happy Gordon was smart enough to understand that and let it slide out of respect !
