  • Here we go…..Just 4 weeks after getting a PB of 2.42 at the Tokyo Marathon I found myself stood at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris with 52,000 other runners about to take on another 26.2 miles, the Paris Marathon.
Based on my previous marathon time, I found myself in the unfamiliar position of having my start position moved to the 'Preferentials Zone' meaning I got to start the race just a few meters from the start line.
My entry to this Marathon was always intended to be a back up if the Tokyo didn't go according to plan. Those who follow me on Instagram (BrummieRunner) will know I suffered a brutal 5mm tear to my achilles tendon at the Berlin Marathon in 2022. As I documented my recovery on my Instagram stories I was blown away by the support from other runners, elite and every day lovers of the sport that reached out with kind words and requests for more information about how I was getting through the tough times.
A constant question asked was "Do you have a UA-cam Channel and can I follow your running injury recovery journey there?" Well at the time I didn't but by popular request I made a point of setting up this channel with the purpose of inspiring others much like I have been. Also to pass on knowledge I have learnt or discovered along my running journey.
Paris Marathon was only meant to be a back-up, I'd kept it under my hat until race day. But I thought I'd be a fool to let the opportunity pass without capturing some footage for my UA-cam debut.
So with help from Sophie, I have got as much footage and information scraped together to try and make something half entertaining for you to all watch.
I also asked a friend of mine to help me edit and get me up and running. A friend who now works as a professional videographer @sylvestrisstudios but I met 26 years ago when we joined the British Army together.
I hope you enjoy this debut video and I can't urge you strongly enough to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE and PLEASE ask any questions you might have in the comments section below. I love interacting with other runners as much as I love running its self. So help me keep motivated to post more videos by getting the conversation going below.
Until next time, always stay in the fight and I'll see you on the road soon.
    Si, The Brummie Runner

Thanks for the video, just signed up for 2024 so it was great to see your experience of 2023. Quick question about the medical form if you can help please? Do you just have to get it signed by a GP and upload it? Done a couple of marathons before and never seen this before.
