      And can we please include info on how to make it last if you have oily eyelids? Genuinely the most difficult because the oils seep through during the day and not only ruin the eyeshadow but also cause even waterproof mascara to smudge

      @@herbie13 I managed to find 1 primer that worked ok (but not amazing) but it's been discontinued so now that's even worse. I totally understand having a 'tacky base' for eyeshadow to stick to, but they just don't keep the oils at bay long enough. It's almost like I need a mattifying base for the oil and a sticky base over that for the eyeshadow

    I'm in absolute agreement on the skin prep. It makes a HUGE difference. I love Neutrogena hydro gel water gel moisturizer. It works so great under makeup and doesn't pill. I go in with Milk Hydro grip primer after to get my skin is sticky so it holds my makeup in place.

      @@carolann6158 I think it would be good on dry skin if let your moisturizer sink in for a while then use the primer. I just use a really small amount in my T zone where my makeup tends to break up first. I heard that the ELF dupe of it is really good so you could try that first and probably save some money if it's as good as ppl are saying.

BUT I learnt this trick from my performance days and still use it for events where my makeup has to last: HAIRSPRAY YOUR FACE AT THE END. Kept my wedding makeup flawless for 17 hours. The best thing she said “ small amount of the powder “ this what I really start doing. Am a muslim and I wear Hijab for most of the time outside. Every time I wear makeup I face an issue with having a cakey face + even with a setting spray the power leave marks and stain my Hijab which makes me look not clean and dusty 🙂💔 when I start reduce the amount of makeup and put the minimum amount of powder I enjoyed the result and I look more natural 😍

    The game-changer for my oily skin was definately SERUMS! They are not as heavy as creams and absorb somewhat easier also. I usually go for a serum more water-based instead of oil based, even looking for as little amount of oil as I can but looking for it to have other moisturizing ingredients. For example, what I currently use as a fave for skin prep is a hyaluronic acid serum :)

  • @dcarangi

    Holy crap this was really eye opening for me! My face is an oil slick so I always just assumed that more powder will have to do. I always end up reapplying constantly and looking like a baked cakey disaster by the end of the day. Thank you for this!

    • @hungrylikealoup
      @hungrylikealoup Рік тому +7

      I've got combo/oily skin that gets extra oily when I wear makeup. I've found that really nailing your skincare with moisturizers and serums that are not too moisturizing is key! I'm definitely of the 'moisturizer as primer' camp. Also, using a really oil-controlling powder for your oiliest areas (T-zone, cheek pores, etc.) and more of a regular face powder for less oily areas, in my experience, helps everything look less patchy and caked.

    Primers have never seemed to do for me what they do for other people. I have oily/combo skin and it's taken years to curate a skincare routine that works for me. I feel so validated for using my moisturizer like a primer for the times when I do use makeup. The only primer I've tried that's ever sort of worked is the Elf Mint Melt Primer (Which they unfortunately don't make anymore). I'm a cosplayer so when I do cosplay makeup for conventions, I need that staying power, and I love the trick of setting your liquid/cream makeup with a setting spray before putting on powder!

    Also set makeup before applying makeup spray to the face after skin care and priming ensures makeup lasts you never spray after makeup because it reactivates the makeup mainly the powders and what liquids you’ve set
    Which is why makeup breaks down fast because you’ve put something wet on face after it’s set
    Putting it on before makeup ensures longevity and no creasing

    I'm just starting to get into makeup as a young adult and please I just wanted to take the time to genuinely thank you for existing and being you!!!! I've recently just found your channel but I have been absorbing the content as if it's my religion 😂 but I am learning so much and your personality makes it so enjoyable to watch even if the videos get long! 🫶 I appreciate the work you put in for us, so thank you

    I love the long form, in depth, close in tutorials. Make ‘em an hour long. I’ll watch. ❤😊
