100% yes to a video of how to get your eyeshadow to last all day without creasing!!
Try a long lasting sticky eye primer, it fixed everything for me
And can we please include info on how to make it last if you have oily eyelids? Genuinely the most difficult because the oils seep through during the day and not only ruin the eyeshadow but also cause even waterproof mascara to smudge
@@anatolia0222 couldn't agree more 😭 doesn't matter how much I prime or set them, it always seems to crease, smudge or move around 😒
@@herbie13 I managed to find 1 primer that worked ok (but not amazing) but it's been discontinued so now that's even worse. I totally understand having a 'tacky base' for eyeshadow to stick to, but they just don't keep the oils at bay long enough. It's almost like I need a mattifying base for the oil and a sticky base over that for the eyeshadow
@@cpiek7611 What do you suggest? I've tried many including Fenty which the sales associate said required him to use makeup remover to get it off and even that creased on me.
“… and now you might be thinking ‘powder duh’ - no, rude, don’t interrupt me.” 😂❤ always entertaining and educational, the perfect combo 🥰
I'm in absolute agreement on the skin prep. It makes a HUGE difference. I love Neutrogena hydro gel water gel moisturizer. It works so great under makeup and doesn't pill. I go in with Milk Hydro grip primer after to get my skin is sticky so it holds my makeup in place.
I absolutely love the hydro grip primer but I can only use it one time a month max because it causes fungal acne so bad for me
I love the neutrogena water gel too and wondered would that primer be ok on dry skin?
@@carolann6158 I think it would be good on dry skin if let your moisturizer sink in for a while then use the primer. I just use a really small amount in my T zone where my makeup tends to break up first. I heard that the ELF dupe of it is really good so you could try that first and probably save some money if it's as good as ppl are saying.
Oh god that moisturiser dried my skin out SO BAD and made it flake off and get all rough 🫣
@@KristinM2288 I thought I was the only one! Hydro grip primer broke me out SO BAD.
My wedding is in two weeks and I've really been working on perfecting my base makeup so it lasts... Great timing!
Congratulations beauty! Hope this helps you look gorg all day and night 🙌🏼✨
Imma preface this by saying that *I knowwww* this is terrible advice as it's bad for skin and it's really bad if you breathe it in... BUT I learnt this trick from my performance days and still use it for events where my makeup has to last: HAIRSPRAY YOUR FACE AT THE END. Kept my wedding makeup flawless for 17 hours. Also been to festivals in the middle of (Australian) summer: even through sweat and grime, makeup was perfect.
@@ceg8677 i’m doing this!!!!
I can never figure out how to do “glass skin” with makeup lol, I can only ever get it to work with bare face and skincare, so this will be helpful
I have heard that Mariah Leonard has a great tutorial for glass skin!!
I just started following you and watching your videos and I absolutely love how you describe each step of every process to people like me don’t know a whole lot about make up. I’m really starting to appreciate the artistry that goes until all of this. Thank you! And by the way, because of your videos, I completely nailed my bronzer today.
😩 Thank you so much Melissa, I’m so happy it helped! 🙌🏼🧡
I used to spray the setting mist as the final step. But after watching this video and after one week of doing the 'setting mist after all creams' method: what a make-up game changer! My make-up looked more skin-like and lasts longer than before. I'm blown away by how my base looks after a long day. Thank you, thank you so much for sharing!
which mist did you use?
Excuse me but your skin is fabulous! The skincare journey definitely paid off
The best thing she said “ small amount of the powder “ this what I really start doing. Am a muslim and I wear Hijab for most of the time outside. Every time I wear makeup I face an issue with having a cakey face + even with a setting spray the power leave marks and stain my Hijab which makes me look not clean and dusty 🙂💔 when I start reduce the amount of makeup and put the minimum amount of powder I enjoyed the result and I look more natural 😍
❤❤❤❤ glad it worked for you, im sure you look beautiful even without makeup
That's the t-shirt: "Skincare. Primer. Hold on, my cats are fighting." #merch
The game-changer for my oily skin was definately SERUMS! They are not as heavy as creams and absorb somewhat easier also. I usually go for a serum more water-based instead of oil based, even looking for as little amount of oil as I can but looking for it to have other moisturizing ingredients. For example, what I currently use as a fave for skin prep is a hyaluronic acid serum :)
Holy crap this was really eye opening for me! My face is an oil slick so I always just assumed that more powder will have to do. I always end up reapplying constantly and looking like a baked cakey disaster by the end of the day. Thank you for this!
I've got combo/oily skin that gets extra oily when I wear makeup. I've found that really nailing your skincare with moisturizers and serums that are not too moisturizing is key! I'm definitely of the 'moisturizer as primer' camp. Also, using a really oil-controlling powder for your oiliest areas (T-zone, cheek pores, etc.) and more of a regular face powder for less oily areas, in my experience, helps everything look less patchy and caked.
@@hungrylikealoup which oil-controlling powders would you recommend??
Primers have never seemed to do for me what they do for other people. I have oily/combo skin and it's taken years to curate a skincare routine that works for me. I feel so validated for using my moisturizer like a primer for the times when I do use makeup. The only primer I've tried that's ever sort of worked is the Elf Mint Melt Primer (Which they unfortunately don't make anymore). I'm a cosplayer so when I do cosplay makeup for conventions, I need that staying power, and I love the trick of setting your liquid/cream makeup with a setting spray before putting on powder!
I’ve heard really great things about the urban decay all nighter primer for oily combo skin!
i would love to see something on covering up rosacea! you’re a lifesaver
Same!!
Same! I have it bad on my cheeks😅
Also set makeup before applying makeup spray to the face after skin care and priming ensures makeup lasts you never spray after makeup because it reactivates the makeup mainly the powders and what liquids you’ve set
Which is why makeup breaks down fast because you’ve put something wet on face after it’s set
Putting it on before makeup ensures longevity and no creasing
I’m a MUA professionally since 2018 and this is what I’ve learnt over the years
Wait cause this makes so much sense- I’ve been using a spray after applying my makeup and it would instantly go downhill from there thinking I was doing something good… thank you so much.
@@blue-funk3076 you’re so very welcome happy I can help and give real makeup tips from my training but also taught myself
I've been slowly adopting the less is more makeup application style and UGHHH it's like you read my mind every time😩😫💗💓💖💞 EXACTLY the video I needed, luv ya girl
