Thank you for addressing brown and gray discoloration. Most people only talk about correcting red, blue and purple. It took me years of trial and error to figure it out. I've never heard of Demi Makeup, but it sounds like the puzzle piece technique that Lisa Eldridge does! I use a peachy color corrector for around my mouth and place different tones of concealer (usually just 1) to even myself out without overlapping. I'm medium olive with some hyperpigmentation and that technique prevents my makeup from looking cakey while being visually cohesive. My hyperpigmentation pulls greenish grey brown so peach is my bestie
I have Milani undereye brightener in Rose that I use to correct before applying my Nars Radiant Creamy concealer, and I love it! I use the Catrice Instant Awake undereye brightener in Light Rose sometimes as well. The Catrice is medium to full coverage imo. The LA Pro Conceal is a little heavy for me. Thanks for posting this video. ❤
I feel like this broke my brain a little - I've been doing a similar colour corrector/concealer combo on my under eyes, as I have similar dark circles. But just last week I was wondering why the pigmentation spot I have was looking so ashy under my concealer. I never thought to colour correct that too!! You're brilliant, thank you!
At first thanks for advices, i improve my make up a lot. I have dark brown eyes and have lighter skin colour, i was adding generously concealor on lower and upper eye lid before doing anything more with eyes and have a feeling very bright make up might look stunning on people similar to me, but have no clue have to make it, i just found pictures where others use eyeliner and thats not at all what i mean. Im not using cosmetics which much my skin tone the best: lumen serum in foundation shade 00, nyx Wonder stick fair (only contour side and generously too) and nyx cant stop want stop contour concealor fair.
Thanks for the awesome vid packed with important and useful information! I've been utilizing my super red (pinkish tone, which I've grown to kinda hate) cheeks, to only apply light layers of light/medium coverage foundation and using orangey and apricot color blush shades to create a peachy pink blush. I also have really dark eye area and my maturing skin and wrinkles really don't take a lot of heavy concealer well, so I'm counting a lot on colour correcting and light layers! A lot of these methods I'm currently using on my make up routine atm is thanks to you and your amazing videos and tutorials! So thank you again!
Wow. I think this just changed everything for me. I always hate using concealer because I felt they made my under eyes too orange, but now I'm thinking I need to color correct first and then put a lighter concealer on top!

My dark circles are really dark, so I use a combination of color corrector and concealer (and set with powder!). Before learning about color correction, my undereyes were always a little bit grey. The peach color corrector wasn't enough for my face so now I just mix the red and yellow to make a better color.

My latest desperation impulse buy item to cover up a red chemical burn on my chin, has been the Erborian CC in green. It adapts to my skin colour after a while, but keeps some greenness, too and I top it with Revlon buff foundation, dabbing it thick with my fingertips. Perfection. I wish all my impulse buys were as successful as this one... That's how I ended up in the demi base makeup trend... I wish I wasn't tho :/
Alex is BACK!!!!! Would love to see more of your jewelry collection and where you shop for them. I know you did one but can we get another......if you bought anything new. itching to buy new pieces
I had the problem that my new, lighter concealer looking gray on my under eye area, and while I could have used a color corrector undeneath that, I didn't have any such at home, so I instead used my old, darker concealer underneath. It's the same level as my skintone, but quite a bit warmer in undertones (my skin is neutral, kinda olive with just a hint towards warm, so I did up until recently use warm undertone base makeup without realizing I looked a little yellow in that lol.) Using that darker, warmer concealer essentially as a color corrector, really helped avoiding that grayish result when I then put the lighter concealer on top. I do have to be very careful to use very thin layers to avoid it getting cakey and creasing though, which is harder when using more products layered on top of each other. So I do just like you did here with a regular concealer that's just warm enough to do the trick. My undereye area has a deep, purplish shade, fyi. More blue than yours. For other color trouble areas of my skin I typically just use a concealer though, like around my nose. The only area I have a ton of trouble with figuring out an actually good solution to is my massive 5 o'clock shadow area. It's too large of an area (like the entire lower third of my face and neck) for me to use a ton of heavy products like concealer. Also I don't like using heavy full coverage foundation all over my face especially since most of my skin is perfecly clear, and since most color correctors out there are such teeny tiny bottles/tubes/tins, I'd go through that in less than a week. So for now I use an orange powder blush layered with a yellowy highlighter powder on top to just neutralize that blue/gray and add very sheer coverage, but it's very difficult to get an even cover with that. It does improve the situation, but it's far from a flawless look. I'm trying to find a pale, peachy cream blush I can use instead of the powder blush for a more even application, but there's no such in my area and I don't really trust colors online. (I will be getting laser hair removal as a permanent solution to that problem, but waiting lists are kinda grim so for now I just have to make do with shaving and makeup.)
I FINALLY GET IT. THE GRAYNESS (?) OF THE CONCEALER. Not to sound offensive but even though i always understood the theory behind it i always thought it was actually some kind of placebo effect? LMAOO im so dumb, what switched it all far me was "none of these products are actually opaque". I feel brand new

you are diffinitly the best makeup artist, I have had the pleasure of watching. Your experience is so needed in today's makeup world. Thank you so kindly for all you do, your skills are very much appreciated. Please keep your videos coming. 🎉🎉❤❤
I'm 53 and only realised from you that I have slightly light olive skin. Was wondering why I was having difficulty choosing a new foundation...till now. Thankyou!!!!
We love you Alex!!❤
😩❤️
Drugstore reccs- actually sub-drugstore. I love high end complexion but not gonna pay those prices if a $1.25 product is very very good. LA Girl makes a light peach color corrector, which is unusual at this price point (altho I think it’s awesome dark peach came out first), and b pur moisturizing concealer is the best for a very light moisturizing product. Very natural but does its job
Hi Aleandra, thank you so much for this educational video! I love that you support it with theory and explain everything so well, which makes it so much easier to understand why we apply certain things/colors to our face haha.
This was so informative, I’m gonna go try this right now. Also - I loved the subtle silly editing!
I love your videos so much ❤❤ they are very in-depth and show that you care about our makeup journeys. I’m also a fair neutral and olive skin-tone, so your tips have made a world of difference for me
Soooo good! So helpful! So informative! Thank you for giving us a structure without making it formulaic. Telling us to keep out of the boxes!! I super appreciate that!
Sooooo helpful babes. As always- clear, concise, comprehensive with a stunning result xx
Alex I have just discovered your channel and I'm wondering why I've been under a rock for so long?!! 😮😂
I subscribed and I'm in love with your videos. I love how down to earth you are, no hard sells etc. ❤❤
I'm also am olive girly and love how you got us!!!!❤❤❤❤
Thank you Shelly! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Alex! I wanna say thank you sooooo much for making lots of videos so now I can do my makeup a little bit better. I love how it feels like I'm watching my long-distance friend every time I watch your video. You never push us to buy this or that product but you always give details when you like something. You always look sooooo glowing and have a good day every day Alex!!💖✨
Appreciate this so much! Excellent examples and editing. Yes - would love an updated everyday makeup video 😊
As I am someone who's main problem is skin discoloration this has been super helpful, thanks a bunch! ❤❤❤
Wow i'm super impressed with the green color correction ... it's undetectable !
Thank you so much love, I hope this helped! 🙏🏼❤️
That Givenchy really blends in nicely on your skin
This was such a helpful video! Thank you so much. Glad you are back! ❤
Me too 😘❤️
I got the Omnia from the same brand and I indeed looove it. I’m still trying to sleep on my back, which is still impossible for me haha, but the pillow works! With a satin pillowcase of course 😍
I wish I could sleep on my back 😩 This pillow saves me tho 🙌🏼❤️
Thank you so much for this Alex! I never know what to do with my dark circles so I will give your tip a try! Would love to see your current base routine :)
ur camera quality is so good
S-O helpful! Appreciate your distinguishing betw color corrector and concealer and when or when not to use either or both. Can let facial stuff fly but was so in need of how to approach dark circles. Again, most useful tutorial for my needs in I don’t know how long! Thank you. Thank you!! Thank You!!!
And, welcome back, Alex&ra…….
This was legit so helpful! I’ve got the same olive skin tone as you, maybe a little more tan/red and always have trouble finding a concealer to match. Not only that, so confused on the color correction thing! ❤❤ Thank you!
I need help with my combination eyes because they are large, round, and hooded with large lid space above the crease. I can never find a video to suit me specifically.
My dark circles are really dark, so I use a combination of color corrector and concealer (and set with powder!). Before learning about color correction, my undereyes were always a little bit grey. The peach color corrector wasn't enough for my face so now I just mix the red and yellow to make a better color.

100% yes to a skin prep video!
Love your rings you’re wearing!!
Thank you! I think I got all of them on etsy! ❤️
AHHH MY GIRL IS BACK
Hayyyyy 🙌🏼❤️
The older I get, the more use I get out of a color corrector than out of a concealer. And my go to at the moment is Haus Labs concealer 05 Fair Peach. Chef’s kiss!
I tried Catrice eye brightener on Amazon which worked great with my concealer. It helps with my aged skin that I have now. Your explanation on the ash color was great now I get it 😊 thank you.
Pixi By Petra Correction Concentrate in the color Brightening Peach is my favorite. The single most repurchased makeup item for me. I would consider it full coverage.
Please try out some purple base/ corrector, I see a lot of ppl using purple to cancel out redness.
Great tips! I would love a video on what makeup brushes you would buy if you were starting your brush collection from scratch.
Nyx is tried and true for me. And the Revlon and Maybelline eyeshadow pots are insanely sweat resistant.
this is your third video in a row that im watching tonight lol and I wanted to take a sec to comment an idea: would you do the 16personalities test (MBTI i think it’s called?) and do a make up or organization video or any video of your preference, while reading your results and commenting if you relate to the results or not….? As an INFP I’d tooootally appreciate and watch the hell outta that video 😅❤
This has been so informative!
Love my omnia sleep & glow pillow - can't be without it & take it with me everywhere now!
Thank you my love, from the bottom of my heart.... You made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love you! Thank you so much. After pregnancy I got so many dark areas on my face so I’m very excited to try this ❤
Alex is BACK!!!!!
It's the same level as my skintone, but quite a bit warmer in undertones (my skin is neutral, kinda olive with just a hint towards warm, so I did up until recently use warm undertone base makeup without realizing I looked a little yellow in that lol.)
Using that darker, warmer concealer essentially as a color corrector, really helped avoiding that grayish result when I then put the lighter concealer on top.
Very helpful video. Your explanation was excellent. Thank you.
I feel brand new
Loved this - no nonsense explaining lol 😆
I’m so happy to see you back here!! I just adore long form content and you’re my favorite!!! I caught your last video and I felt that shit on a whole new level!! I suffer from OCD. When I start a project, I get obsessed, quickly might I add, and it’s hard as hell to deal with. Even in just every day conversation I get overwhelmed sometimes so I feel your pain love!!! Much love and I hope you’re having a wonderful Hump Day. And if what you want is to humped on Hump Day, I hope you achieve that goal😂😂😂❤❤❤❤. PS…had to come back and ask this… I remember when you had Botox for your dark circles…would you ever do it again, was it worth it? I want to get it for my wrinkles and I know that’s totally different but I was just wondering. If this is a bad question, I’m so sorry!!
It's crazy how many people have commented about having ocd! I think it's funny how we could all be experiencing similar things and yet feel like we're so weird or alone, but we're not at all! ❤️ SO, your question: I didn't have botox for my under eyes, I got filler and I personally had a bad experience with it over all and wouldn't do it again. The decision is definitely very individual but if I can give you one piece of advice it would be to go to a real plastic surgeon for a consultation NOT a medspa. This stuff is so much more serious than people make it out to be and let's face it (pun not intended at all), this is your face! Your literally wear it on the front of your head,! So just proceed with caution and don't get talked into anything you don't fully understand or even want 🙏🏼
@@AlexandraAnele I’m so sorry I got that wrong!! Thank you for the advice sweetie!!! I’m sorry you had to bad experience too!! I want Botox so bad but I’m honestly scared to death! I mean I like being able to move my face😂
Could you make a video about prepping and makeup for oily skin? I've been doing some treatment for it, but there are so many options of primers and foundation finishing, it's hella confusing 😢
Glad You're back, You're the greatest ❤
I enjoy your videos so much! I only do my makeup once in a while, but I love watching you and getting all your tips ❤ thanks for always being awesome 👸
Very nice❤ i am currently using the nyxx color correct peach stick and the brightening stick on my old 66yo sun damaged and freckeled skin and eyes. That is all i use with setting powders of various shades depending on location of spots. It is a bit thick and heavy but sheers out pretty good where needed.
Brilliant! And yes please! I am sure we all need to see your new make up routine!! Especially me 😅 I use as little products as possible hihi
Excited you're back!!❤❤
I love the information you always give in your videos. It's very useful! ❤
One question, though... I'm always a little confused about when to do either of these, i.e., before or after foundation. Can you please give some advice on that?
I learn so much from your videos I really appreciate you Alex! 💞
Oh man, I've been thinking about this pillow recently, what excellent timing 😂
It really is a must have ❤️
