As a console player that grinded EVERY Banner before 1.4 nymphs aren't that hard to get if you know what to do (but still a flex) that rune wizard, and Tim to an extent, are the true bastards to farm. Even took longer than the sea snail banner (update bugged out my 1st one -_-)
I think if you have a Ruby robe or a red robe from the travelling merchant i forgot its name it gives you a higher chance for Tim to spawn although I heard this in 1.3 I don't know if it still works and if it effects the rune wizard
i have an 100% everything expert mode world that i spent a while one. neither of them are hard. while farming for the rod of discord, its not that hard. I got both before the rod, and you only need 25
I remember grinding for these things... That was painful. A tip for getting the gold seahorse: stay at the world border at an ocean and use a life drain to kill non-gold seahorses. Being at the world's edge (and making the camera no longer follow the player) lets you see thigs spawn on-screen.
Another thing that helped me, after some experimenting, is that they seem to have a depth limit. As far as I could tell, if the ocean gets too deep, they didn't spawn. Could be wrong, but that was my experience. Bringing the seabed up meant they were spawning for me across the ocean, and not just near the shore. Then I... set up a teleporter system. No seahorses? jump on a teleporter at the edge of the map, warp back to just out of sight of the ocean, run across the surface with any set of water walking footwear, repeat. That's what did it for me.
I see how fast I can get a eucalyptus sap in each world as a prediction to how good the worlds luck is. My fastest time to get a eucalyptus sap is 2 trees right of of the start.
There are a few items you can't obtain in Journey mode, but can still be researched, such as the carrot, bone block (unobtainable), zombie arm statue (expert/master world only). I have to get those thing via multiplayer server.
Got the eucalyptus sap in one of my worlds on the first tree. I was so shook that I got him I ran to the wiki to check the odds straight away. Me and my friend both were amazed of the luck
Wait the sap was a rare item?I remember just starting a playthrough and getting this item and due to the pet being a squirrel i thought it was a pretty common item
i got both the slime staff and the sap beffore, i did not think they where special at all, slime staff was neat, but sap was just stored on a chest with many other pets, now i wish i would have the slime staff still, this is because despite not liking to grind at all, i like to store 1 of each item in games, mainly weapons and armors, but sometimes, i go a bit overboard.
I had to get all of the golden critters 3 times for a journey mode playthrough where I got every item available for duplication in vanilla Terraria, and the golden seahorse was by far the hardest item to get. Even with the 10x spawn rate available in journey it took me an absolutely absurd amount of time to find 3. Definitely the rarest item in Terraria hands down.
Remembered this video when I just randomly was excavating a mountain for dirt and saw my lifeform analyzer say a gold water strider was near, Didn't know before this but I'm def gonna keep it as a flex for my place. Also, nice video!
Damn, so i've got 3 of these in a multiplayer playthrough without realizing just how good my odds are! Have the Gold Water Strider, Gold Sea Horse and Eucalyptis Sap all Pre-Hard Mode currently. So now its just the Rune Wizard Banner and the Universal Pylon left...
First time I saw a seahorse, only one, I caught it and immediately after a gold one popped up on my hud so I of course snagged it and caged it. Haven't seen any more since, same with water striders, only seen a few. Makes it feel even more insane I actually got one. Good thing they don't have much use I have killed quite a few gold critters though... I recommend you have the no harm guide with you if you're hunting.
A few days ago, I was cutting down trees and I got the sap without noticing at first. That was probably one of the luckiest moments I’ve had in terraria.
The cell phone was relatively easy for me to get. Just takes time. I got it in pre hardmode (I'm still in prehardmode cause I'm a builder) Actually, the hardest thing for the cellphone for me to get was the radar. I have dups of every other item, including the fishing stuff, but not the radar, so I could make 2 or 3 more cellphones if I had the damn radar. The radar is supposed to be the easiest find too!
I got the Sugar glider as my first pet relatively quickly when I started a new character earlier this year. Didn't know it was so rare. I also remember getting multiple slime staffs in the old mobile version. I thought it was kind of a common drop since I got so many.
Getting ready to get every terrarium, banner, trophy, and noteworthy weapon and armor in the game for a museum on our Zenith seed world. Looking forward to that
i got the eucalyptus sap on one of the first trees i cut down in my game. i just started playing terraria again after many many years, and i had no clue what it did. good to know where my rng is sitting because i got that as my 3rd item, after wood and acorns
on one of my very first terraria play throughs, I chopped down a tree and got a eucalyptus sap. I played through up until the queen bee with it, and then I deleted the world because I didn’t like it. I had no idea how rare it was until i watched this video lol.
I'd say the rarest item is the truffle worm banner, not that it's the hardest to get, just the fact you would have to be clinically insane to do such a thing
Yesterday me and my friend started a new mastermode play through and he immediately went to go chop down a tree and got the eucalyptus sap off of the first tree. I was in shock and he had no idea what i was so excited about.
Honorable mention to “the dirtiest block”, which according To the wiki, there are only 3/6/9 in small/medium/large worlds respectively. Of course one can just create a world with a seed where the location of one is known, but if one were to try and obtain the item properly, I’d argue it’s one of the absolute rarest.
i got the eucalyptus sap within my first week of hardmode first time playing, thought it was just another pet thing. did some research and now he accompanies me everywhere.
I didn't realize the Rune Wizard banner was rare they spawn at an avarage pace in my world, I remember finding that banner and the Tim banner right after hitting hard mode because I was looking for a Hel Fire
I had no idea the sugar glider was so rare... first time i revisited terraria in 7 or 8 years, last year, i played with friends and i got one within an hour of playing normally, and im pretty sure we had a second one in another few hours.
I remember the first time I played Terraria actually knowing how to play, i was casually chopping down trees the first day I played, and I was sharing my screen with my friend who told me to get Terraria, and probably my 20th time shaking a tree gave me a eucalyptus sap. I literally had no clue it was rare at all and he was shocked at how lucky I was for getting it.
One day I was just creating new worlds to chop down trees and get some wood for a big project of mine. The first tree I cut down dropped the Eucalyptus Sap. I didn’t knew what it was until that cute little sugar glider spawned. Anyways back in the original world I got another one.
i actually have seen a golden seahorse one in my playthrough lol, at the tme i thought, "oh cool, a golden critter" like it had the same spawn rarity as the others lmao
Can’t believe nobody’s said this but I think the rarest is actually the Waldo painting, it has a 0.16% (or 1 in 625) chance to spawn in underground cabins which is far less than any other painting, it took me 3 hours which is already incredibly lucky since I went through 3 different worlds and about 200 underground cabins
I'm still trying to 100% my Journey character, and it's the damned golden Seahorses and Water Striders that are killing me. Seahorses are actually really easy to spawn (build a few houses for NPCs atop the ocean tides to prevent enemies spawning, go to the far edge of the map, and sit yourself down. You'll actually be able to see the seahorses popping in and out of existence because enemy spawning at the edges of the map is funky. Make sure you bring a battle potion and water candle with you, and Zenith the seagulls and turtles that dare to take up valuable spawn space) but the striders. Screw the striders. They suck and I hate them.
on a random terraria run i was doing during a flight and layover, i got the eucalyptus sap and was like “eh this is cool ig” and then used it for a while before trashing it cus i thought it wasn’t rare. Only now am i realizing the rarity..
I got 5 eucalyptus saps in like under 2 hours of my first game when 1.4 came out. I used the saps in item frames which looked like blood. For decoration.
Just got a golden water strider after multiple days of farming with all possible buffs. These things are RARE! I GOT A GOLD SEAHORSE!!! I’ve discovered a way to farm them after testing I found some spawn conditions. They spawn when it’s raining (more seemed to spawn at night) and only showed to spawn in shallow water.
Something that irks me, is on one of the VERY first trees I ever shook on the day 1.4 released, I got the eucalyptus sap, only for my game to close without saving and I’ve never seen it since.
I am so shook right now my character has eucalyptus sap and I have the slime staff in the same game and I've yet to defeat a single boss except for slime king that's so crazy. I had no idea hoe rare those items were and I have both.
I have had the sap drop at least 3-4 times when I hit trees just trying to get fruits, each in individual playthroughs, with me hitting trees to hit them and not chop at least 20-30 times per. Like, for me it has been common enough to warrant selling and replacing with a cooler pet, because I had no concept of its rarity. But now that I know its rarity I can brag to people who never get it. I still don't care all that much for it, as I prefer Chester or Shadow Mimic
I surprisingly knew about all of these. haven't gotten a rune wizard banner but I have gotten the universal pylon on my old master mainsave. unfortunately got wiped when I got my new PC. I have gotten the sap several times in several worlds
I guessed right all except for seahorse. And yes. I didnt knew there is seahorse. For me, I only could have thought that this thing was added by calamity or the stars above mod.
I've gotten both the squirrel pet (2 times in a day playing with a friend) and the Golden Sea horse without even noticing they were rare lol, thought it was common tbh
water strider's are ridiculously rare in hardmode istg they literally almost do not spawn even with the spawn rate increased and the requirements being adjusted, so I can only imagine the golden striders. Although yeah, the striders actually do spawn more in prehardmode.
I had the sugar glider pet when I started the game. Literally just a few/ 1 hour into the game I got a weird squirrel following. Once I got my “first” pet I just threw it away. I am now stressing that I had one of the rarest drops in terraria, and that I just threw it away
Glow Tulip should be in there somewhere. I didn't even know it existed until I found one the other day tearing a small world apart to find shimmer. And The Dirtiest Block.
im surprised the dirtiest dirt wasnt on this list. although i guess it does make sense since your world is guaranteed between 3-9 youd just have to go through mining up your entire world till you find one.
Anyone who has all 5 of these... You are the Terraria God!
Shit only the pylon is missing
Anyone can do that if they have that much time, since all of these except pylon are just grind
thanks
cant say it was worth it in the end tho

Dude no crap, I got the Eucalyptus Sap in the first 5 min of playing. I knew it was rare, but not that rare.
I always get a slimy staff while killing slimes in the surface, i really never need to make a slime farm to get it lol
I once got the eucalyptus sap from the first tree I hit in a world. Sadly, the world got lost when I cleaned my hard drive
I got one too but i lost the world
I got 2 in a row once.
I see how fast I can get a eucalyptus sap in each world as a prediction to how good the worlds luck is. My fastest time to get a eucalyptus sap is 2 trees right of of the start.
Even though it’s not an item, research completion in journey mode is by far the rarest feat. It’s an absolute nightmare to get.
There are a few items you can't obtain in Journey mode, but can still be researched, such as the carrot, bone block (unobtainable), zombie arm statue (expert/master world only). I have to get those thing via multiplayer server.

You won't achieve it
Bruh i achieve the Milk but not my dad
HAHAHA
DANG BRO
If you need to find the golden sea horse and golden water strider to complete the beastiery wouldn’t that make the universal pylon the rarest item?
Got the eucalyptus sap in one of my worlds on the first tree. I was so shook that I got him I ran to the wiki to check the odds straight away. Me and my friend both were amazed of the luck
Wait the sap was a rare item?I remember just starting a playthrough and getting this item and due to the pet being a squirrel i thought it was a pretty common item
Same
@UndoMyExistance
If my friend didn't tell me right after I found it same.
Yeah i got the item aswell
Same

I got eucalyptus sap on one of my first ever trees chopped down. Didn't know it was so rare.
i got both the slime staff and the sap beffore, i did not think they where special at all, slime staff was neat, but sap was just stored on a chest with many other pets, now i wish i would have the slime staff still, this is because despite not liking to grind at all, i like to store 1 of each item in games, mainly weapons and armors, but sometimes, i go a bit overboard.
As someone who is trying to duplicate every single thing in terraria this is very helpful.
0:37 how are those shader things in your background?
im glad someone finally says that rune wizard banners are harder to get than nymph banners
By far! I managed to get 3 nymph banners while grinding for rune wizard lol
First time I saw a seahorse, only one, I caught it and immediately after a gold one popped up on my hud so I of course snagged it and caged it. Haven't seen any more since, same with water striders, only seen a few. Makes it feel even more insane I actually got one. Good thing they don't have much use
I have killed quite a few gold critters though... I recommend you have the no harm guide with you if you're hunting.
Didn't know that there are more rare items in terraria than I thought... Thanks for the video anyway!
"...when you shake a tree. "
Casually demolishes a whole forest ecosystem
A few days ago, I was cutting down trees and I got the sap without noticing at first. That was probably one of the luckiest moments I’ve had in terraria.
Same, I just randomly got it yesterday on my new expert summoner world.
I randomly got 3 once now i know how rare it is
i get that item without trying to get it like every other playthrough
wish i could have that luck for something that actually matters though
what texture pack are you using for the backgrounds? especially at 0:37
I didn't even know that the water strider existed!
the hardest well-known one in my opinion is the cell phone.
I always get all of the materials for the cell phone in my world excluding the fishing ones.
@@hotpinkkt The hardest for me was the metal detector. I killed 15 nymphs before I got one.
I got the Sugar glider as my first pet relatively quickly when I started a new character earlier this year.
Didn't know it was so rare.
I also remember getting multiple slime staffs in the old mobile version. I thought it was kind of a common drop since I got so many.
I may not have a Universal Pylon, But Im proud to have 2 golden seahorses
That’s insanely impressive! I would treasure them and keep them safe in a vault of some kind lol
i may not have 2 golden seahorses, but im proud to have a universal pylon 😆
i got the sugar glider and zephyr fish and i threw the sugar glider away because i thought the zephyr fish was rarer 💀
Ive gotten the sugar glider pet in a few playthroughs
Getting ready to get every terrarium, banner, trophy, and noteworthy weapon and armor in the game for a museum on our Zenith seed world. Looking forward to that
I didn't even know there were water striders in the game.
It's weird because on some of my recent playthroughs I got half of these without realising how rare they were.
What shaders do you use? They look really nice
I really wanna know too honestly
Lights and shadows if I'm correct
i got the eucalyptus sap on one of the first trees i cut down in my game. i just started playing terraria again after many many years, and i had no clue what it did. good to know where my rng is sitting because i got that as my 3rd item, after wood and acorns
The gold seahorse gives me very bad memories. I wasn't carrying a bug net when i saw it 💀
Daaaamn! That’s painful to hear
@@sockrteez couldn't do anything sadly. I could've switch the merchant's housing so he would live near the ocean but yeah
You don't bring a bug net wherever you go?
on one of my very first terraria play throughs, I chopped down a tree and got a eucalyptus sap.
I cant believe I casually walk past a golden water strider and didnt know what I missed.
Yesterday me and my friend started a new mastermode play through and he immediately went to go chop down a tree and got the eucalyptus sap off of the first tree. I was in shock and he had no idea what i was so excited about.
I didn't even know there are water striders in Terraria...
I did know about seahorses, I saw one once.
Getting rod of discord feels like the rarest drop finally dropped, but then theres more stuff rarer than it.
Wow, I got eucalyptus sap on the 3 tree I broke, 2nd play through xD…
The rarest banner is actually the golden seahorse banner
I got the sugar glider back to back playthroughs. One as Ranger, another as mage. First tree I shook had one. Both times.
I had no idea the eucalyptus sap was so rare! I got it after a couple days of playing casually and shrugged it off, almost getting rid of it
Honorable mention to “the dirtiest block”, which according To the wiki, there are only 3/6/9 in small/medium/large worlds respectively.
0:35 Once, I started a new world, shook all the trees at spawn and got 2 eucalyptus sap immediately
That's funny, I was playing modded Terraria yesterday and I had Eucalyptus Sap drop. My first thought was "Huh, must've been added by Calamity." Hah
I’ve had the sugar glider every run after 1.4, turns out, if you shake trees the whole pre-hardmode, it’s likely to drop
I found that gold seahorse one time when I was fishing and I'm like "oh that's cool", now I'm very happy
Hilariously enough, I've recently started a playthrough with a friend and they got the Eucalyptus Sap pretty near the start.
I remember in one of my first playthroughs, I shook a tree and got the eucalyptus sap first try. I didn’t really care about it back then
One time when I started a new world I got the sap with less than 100 trees shaken ő
I got the Eucalyptus drop on one of my first trees when we booted up the game to try out the update... I had no idea it was even rare lmao
I still don't care all that much for it, as I prefer Chester or Shadow Mimic
the fact that I accidentaly go the Eucalyptus sap in my multiplayer world while going to mine cobblestone is so incredible
I surprisingly knew about all of these. haven't gotten a rune wizard banner but I have gotten the universal pylon on my old master mainsave. unfortunately got wiped when I got my new PC. I have gotten the sap several times in several worlds
I remember getting the eucalyptus sap from a tree in my journey mode world and I was just like “is that blood?!”
I guessed right all except for seahorse. And yes. I didnt knew there is seahorse. For me, I only could have thought that this thing was added by calamity or the stars above mod.
I remember one time I was playing calamity, the FIRST tree I chopped down dropped the eucalyptus sap. I didnt know it was THAT rare
“Most players didn’t even know the seahorse existed.”
I didn’t even know a water strider was a thing
got the sugar glider in calamity mod on my first tree and didn't realize it was rare until now aha
