Hands down my favorite Lady A song
Fun fact: Charles and Dave are from my hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Charles' dad is the musical director of the Church my mom used to work at (Trinity on the Hill Methodist. She was a nursery school teacher at their Mother's Day Out Program). Charles started singing in that Church before making it big in Nashville.
This is my favorite group in Country Music, their vocals, harmonies and songwriting is dope
I guess some see this as a break-up song. I imagine it has a different meaning for some-I know it does for me. He will have been gone 17 years this September, and time hasn’t done what it was supposed to do. I still get lost in our last goodbye, never thinking that would be our last words in this world. I miss him every day. You said don’t be with anyone else until you are ready to move on, and you’re right. Trust me, it won’t work. No one can compete with that one true love. I still hope for closure, but some people are just unforgettable.
They did a live performance of this with Halsey at the CMAs (I think?) mashed up with Halsey’s Graveyard. It’s so good! Definitely worth checking out!
