wonderful fantastic funny smart movie... gee i wanted to see many more movies like that... however he peaked out on that one and the others were ok...:/ thanks a lot woody..:) great house!
Much of Sleeper was shot at Cal Arts. The hallways, the "operation room', the Orgasmatron, etc.. In 1973, my wife literally ran into Woody rounding in a corner in a hallway in a hurry for class, both on the floor. The 'Orgasmatron was a light tite circular door from our graphics lab darkroom - borrowed and separated, then returned.
I used to watch this every week, one of the few films I recorded on vhs in years eighties. Loved it. I find I cannot watch it now as the only versions I can find show a shaving scene which was not in my tv recorded version but non of the versions show a scene which was in the TV movie, woody Allen eating to impress scene, eating corn on the cob like a typewriter
I just might have an eleventh thing for you - I first saw Sleeper many years ago when it aired on TV back in the 70's. I was just a kid. Skip to 2014 when Tim Burton released his movie Big Eyes about the painter Walter Keane...and it suddenly struck me what that line from Sleeper meant, when one of Diane Keaton's dinner guest gives her a painting and she says, "It's Keane...it's pure Keane!" I had always thought it was "keen" but the painting looks to be of one of Keane's famous "big eye" waifs. Of course, Keaton goes on to say, "No, it's greater than Keane. It's cugat." which references Xavier Cugat, spanish-american band leader, one-time husband of Charo and a painter/cartoonist.
I thought she was saying, “keen” too. I didn’t know who Xavier Cugot was, when I had first seen this as a little kid, so I thought she was just saying some made up 22nd Century slang term that they use, which I thought was funny sounding.😝🤷🏻♂️
@@danityvanityinsanity Yes me too! I just thought “Cugat” was a funny sounding word. Look up some of Cugat’s and Keane’s paintings to see who is greater. 😂
Hi! I´m from Brazil and I love Woody Allen Movies. This video is very interesting , I waiting the next´s 10 thing about... haha (sorry my english) and congratulations for the video!!
Definitely one of the best movies. I kind of feel the ending could have been maybe a little better. While it may not be a “masterpiece”, it has a special charm to it that surpasses so many other great films in history. In my opinion the chemistry between Woody and Diane is the most charming ever in movies in the category of romantic comedy
The banana hold genius acting, the slip, obvious but so funny however later they eat a slice and it’s chewed like someone who has eaten half a banana. Favourite line “that’s a big chicken” we use that line to this day
You say 'Sleeper' (1973) is Diane Keaton's first Woody Allen movie, then in the very next sentence you say she appeared in 'Play it Again, Sam' in 1972.
This movie will forever hold a special place in my heart, it was the movie that introduced me to comedy and sci-fi.❤
I love this film.
alice cooper supposedly has a cameo as a hitchhiker in this film.

This was the first Woody Allen film where I knew consciously it was a film directed by him.
My mom and her friend took me to see this when I was 2 years old. I'm insane now.
You’re in good company.🤪
1:54 - Play It Again Sam (1972) is also a Woody Allen film, he doesn't direct is all.

WOW! Thanks for that. I would never have made that connection.

That part when they go into the cave and the 200 year-old VW Bug starts right up. Cracks me up, still.
I sincerely thank Woody Allen and Laurel and Hardy along with Harold Lloyd for my lifelong love of comedy.

Thank you! Love And Death is now up and yes, 42 more to come. 43 probably by the time we get there!

My fav of his. I was one of the children allowed in😂
"Allen on clarinet..." Cut to Allen playing a soprano sax.
Good catch!
" I want to be free, like all the fish in the sea "

He didn’t direct “Play it Again Sam” though
Beautyfool
Falling Down was a blockbuster?
I liked the movie.
Any MST3K fans out there? "Woody Allen asked me out?" Which movie is that from? That poor little Japanese girl didn't have many lines.
What’s up tiger Lilly ?
Prince of Space!
Read: Apropos of Nothing.
One of my favorite Woody Allen films. Diane Keaton never looked so good.
