You actually thought Woody Allen and Dick Cavett discussed particle physics? You, and all the rest of these people who made a similar comment, aren't from that era, are you? The title is the kind of joke Woody Allen would tell. "So I met this girl, beautiful, sexy, and I asked her if she would like to come to my apartment that evening. Why, she asked. I, of course, was obliged to tell the truth. To discuss particle physics, I replied." His humour was about having deep and introspective mannerisms, then surprisingly shallow objectives. And neurotic awkward paranoia, over-thinking simple things. In Annie Hall, Diane Keaton sees a shrink who asks "How often do you have sex?" "Oh constantly, three times a week." Woody Allen tells the same shrink same question, "Hardly ever, three times a week." Won lots of Oscars, that movie. I think it would still work in this era, but I'm still in that era so I wouldn't know.
@@maskedmarvyl4774 Except that Mia is not a credible person on many levels. Find out about her adopted kids and what she did to them. He was NOT her step-father as he and Mia did not live together at that time.
joey flynn That's all true. Allen's certainly guilty of being a jerk for getting involved with someone else while maintaining a relationship with Farrow, but that's the extent of it. If the woman he had hooked up with had been some other 20-year-old (or, I bet, had not been Korean), people would have been far less titillated. Farrow might still have gone ballistic, however, since that seems to be her style.
Alan also never lied. Farrow basically collected child support from Woody for a child that wasn't Woody's....so if anyone has a credibility issue, it's her.
I'm very excited to say that when I was on Twitter, Mia blocked me. The reason, telling people that she's a sociopath for allowing both Woody and her son Ronan believe that they were father and son.
Dick Cavett was a wonderful interviewer-comedian. Notice how he really engages Woody and lets him go beyond his usual rehearsed outines. Sadly, he would always be in third place in the ratings against Johnny Carson and Merv Griffin. (Although, this may be from his daytime show which he had for a couple of years).
GREAT talk! This is my first time ever seeing Dick Cavett and I must say I'm impressed. It seems like there aren't many people on TV these days who speak so frankly and intelligently about issues as he does. Luckily there's the Internet.

Of all the interviews on Cavett's Comic Legend DVD set, Woody's is really the most interesting. Many find that it's a shame that Woody doesn't do interviews anymore, because of how great he was on the Dick Cavett show. He is spot on when he discusses blind dates.
