Such a funny, intelligent, multi-talented man. What he did to comedy in the 1960s, and 1970s is like what the Beatles did to music. Yet he went on for decades more, as a standup comedian, writer, author, actor, director, and musician. And where he didn't feel his level of talent stood up to his high. standards, he didn't bore his audience with that aspect of his work, instead doing it primarily for his own enjoyment (I'm referring to the Saxophone and jazz music here) though even there he showed considerable talent and even better taste and judgment by recognizing and promoting the greats, Girshwin, Armstrong, and the like.
Woody, thank you for all you've done. God blessed you with a Swiss Army knife of talents!

You actually thought Woody Allen and Dick Cavett discussed particle physics? You, and all the rest of these people who made a similar comment, aren't from that era, are you? The title is the kind of joke Woody Allen would tell. "So I met this girl, beautiful, sexy, and I asked her if she would like to come to my apartment that evening. Why, she asked. I, of course, was obliged to tell the truth. To discuss particle physics, I replied." His humour was about having deep and introspective mannerisms, then surprisingly shallow objectives. And neurotic awkward paranoia, over-thinking simple things. In Annie Hall, Diane Keaton sees a shrink who asks "How often do you have sex?" "Oh constantly, three times a week." Woody Allen tells the same shrink same question, "Hardly ever, three times a week." Won lots of Oscars, that movie. I think it would still work in this era, but I'm still in that era so I wouldn't know.

joey flynn That's all true. Allen's certainly guilty of being a jerk for getting involved with someone else while maintaining a relationship with Farrow, but that's the extent of it. If the woman he had hooked up with had been some other 20-year-old (or, I bet, had not been Korean), people would have been far less titillated. Farrow might still have gone ballistic, however, since that seems to be her style.

Has he been charged and/or convicted? I genuinely don’t know. I am wary of assuming anything if that’s not the case. That definitely does matter. I would not use this interview footage in court as evidence.

@@jimmycampbell78 In 2018, his son Moses issued a long statement which painted a grim and graphic picture of Mia Farrow. It was a damning indictment of her spiteful, vindictive, vengeful and conniving nature. He well and truly accused her of lying and inventing the paedophile story to get back at Allen for leaving her. The allegations were investigated thoroughly, twice, by the New York Police, who found there was no case to answer - in other words, they didn't believe his accuser.

This was Woody Allen still doing the mostly nebbishy shtik which he would soon abandon with "Annie Hall." Fascinating career arc.

I'm not sure if it's useful to point this out given that I don't know if you're merely posing a question or indicating an opinion. Nevertheless, here I go: I believe that interest in sex does not equal readiness for sex or sexual experiences. Furthermore, it is every adults' responsibility not to take advantage of children's sexual naivety or curiosity.

Don't confuse the art with the artist. Lots of his movies are semi-autobiographical, but the character of 'Woody Allen' is nothing like the normal person. Even in these interviews Woody is playing the persona he invented in the 50's/60's. If you haven't seen 'Wild Man Blues', check it out and you'll see how the real person Woody Allen is just kind of a strange but normal guy.
