Do you use acid etching or do you solely use sandblasting?
I am a novice glass painter in the US and I really enjoy your videos! Thanks so very much for sharing your work and your process.

Acid etching seems very rare these days, which is sad, as acid etching can accomplish some subtleties that sandblasting cannot. The health risk versus reward doesn't seem to be sufficient enough for many folks to use it anymore.
Curious as to whether you ever use acid at all now.

I agree with your thoughts. I only know one artist who uses acid and actually she only gets to stand next to the technician and direct them. It's just too dangerous. I absolutely love its results. I did a bit at college.

Really interesting Sophie, you're very talented. Looking forward to your next video. How old is the piece your working on?

I'm not sure how old the glass is because it was sent to me by another glass studio so I haven't seen the window. There were a lot of heraldic windows in the 1930s, otherwise it will be Victorian.

Is that resist paper special to this application? Coincidentally, I have a piece of flashed glass on my light table and I’ve been gathering information on how to use it! I am eager to hear all your information about this. Thank you so much.

I am using special resit paper but you can use tape. Just be sure to test whatever you use.

Also, it is difficult to tell from the video, but when you score flashed glass do you score on the "flashed" side or on the clear/base color side?

I was wondering about the sandblasting as well. Do you have one of those sealed cabinets or is another method of doing it? Thanks.

You’ve got to put your camera on the other side because that’s all I am seeing is your head😮
