  • A more in-depth tour of Sophie's studio than her introductory one (find it here: • Sophie's Stained Glass... ). Sophie talks through how she has organised her workshop, how she stores her glass and lead and the sort of equipment she has to hand.

The drawer and jagged glass set up at 5:45 looks deadly! Interesting vid, though. I love seeing how others set up there shops. One can obviously see you’ve got years of experience with the art.

love the electric polisher! what do you do with your cement brush between uses to stop the bristles drying out?

I now use brushes with plastic bristles which, if you leave them in a tub of white spirit, come out clean as a whistle.

Sophie - when you ultimately dispose of all those small useless pieces of glass, how do you do it? I have a local recycle center hat tells me I can just throw it in the trash which seems like such a waste. Great video on your workspace. TY. Do you ever offer residency programs?

Yes my dump tells me to put it in general waste too- I think you can't mix colours when recycling glass. Residency... Do you mean would I share my space? Sophie

@@SophiesStainedGlass Maybe not so much share your space as provide a 3,4,5,6,7 day set of classes with lodging nearby where it would be easy to say spend 4-5 hrs/day learning something specific? I live in Massachusetts, so it would be an overseas trip, but I was just curious as to whether you did anything like that. Thanks for responding.

Hi Annie, I do get contacted by people wanting to learn with me and I'm always happy to help. The difference here would be that I've never been asked to provide accommodation - living in London, we don't have much in the way of spare space. There is something here (and possibly where you are) called AirBnB which provides often quite reasonable accommodation. If you wanted to look into it, our post code (zip) is W5 4EX. It's a well connected area convenient for getting around London if you were thinking of combining your trip with a bit of sight seeing. My teaching costs are £200 for an 8 hour day - to give you an idea.
