Today I'm going to show you how to tighline and waterline the upper lash line. This effect gives the thickest, blackest lash line without losing any lid space.
For with small lids this is great as it means you can create a line effect without losing any lid space.
For those with very hooded eyes it might be the only eyeshadow you need for stand out eyes.
If you have any questions let me know in the comments section below :)

My goodness! That just made complete sense!
I don't particularly like wearing eyeliner on my lids, because it seems to take away from all my eyeshadow work. And I hardly ever -- and I mean EVER -- tightline. I guess I'll start doing it now. Thanks, Wayne, for bringing that to my attention!

im so glad you used your finger to lift up your lid to apply the eyeliner to your top waterline. i have done that FOREVER since i was in 6th grade and started eyeliner. im 25 now! and just started watching youtube videos on make up earlier this year.
i notice all the other 'beauty gurus' closed their eyes and lined their waterline with the eye CLOSED! im like OMG IVE BEEN DOING IT WRONG MY WHOLE LIFE!
LOW AND BEHOLD here you are WAYNE GOSS doing it just like me making me feel not so ABNORMAL.
sending love and best wishes your way! love your videos!

  • @ashlynnkaplan1369
    @ashlynnkaplan1369 9 років тому

I do this method similarly since i have hooded eyes and wrinkly eyelids. No primer has prevented my eyeshadow from creasing, even when done professionally, it always creases. I use my eyeshadows like this: I apply my base shadow to lid, apply darkest color to outer third of my top lashline, keeping colors close to lash line as possible. Apply my mid tone to the rest. On the inner corner and above my tear duct I use my gold, highlight, or lightest shade and along the bottom lashline I line the water line with Pacifica's nude pencil. I take a small brush and lightly blend it all. I have received so many compliments doing this. It is quick, easy, and because of my hooded eyes, when my eyes are open (ya know, most of the time!) it looks like a have a full eye shadow look. Avoid creasing and tons of time blending and such. Other days, I do just what you have demonstrated here =) thanks for sharing! Truly unique here on YT.

I don't know how people can be so casual about flipping their lid and dragging an eye pencil under there. I just threaten the eye by putting the pencil close to it and my entire eye flips out, so it's over before it even started! How do you tightline if your eyes are super sensitive?

This is finally why I feel like eyeliner makes my eyes look so small - it finally makes sense! It’s because the eyeliner takes up my lid space! I have hooded almond shaped eyes and every time I tried liquid or pencil top liner, I’d feel so uncomfortable with how much it took over my entire eyelid. Thank you!!!! Tight lining is so much better for me.

Wheee! I just did this and it works! I have never been able to wear eyeliner, I have small hooded eyes (lucky me) and all eyeliner did was make my eyes look even smaller and messy. I thought no way is this going to work but it will hurt, c'mon lining the inside of your upper eyelid???! I have loads of eyeliner pencils in black and dark brown and I thought I'll give this a shot before I admit defeat and bin the lot and I'm delighted with the results. It didn't hurt and it will take a bit of practice to get used to but it's worth it. Oh how could I have doubted you Master Goss? Never again :-):-)

Hi Wayne :) My first tight lining tutorial. I am not sure I can do that but I will try. I see a clown face about to happen when I attempt this. Very nice finish. Scares me watching that. My Mom years ago accidentally stuck her mascara wand in her eye while applying too quickly and ended up in the E.R. and 3 weeks worth of bandages and creams.

Brilliant tutorial. Eyeliner has defeated me for years. I like to try unfamiliar techniques when I'm about to take my makeup off, so it doesn't matter if it looks bad. Your techniques really worked, but I did blink, so some transferred to my lower waterline, but I can practice that.

Amazing. Never thought of doing this for my own tiny eyes but after seeing this its going to be a must. Amazing as always!

Fantastic! I was not born with the “creative makeup application gene” and generally when shown a new way to apply, I then promptly erase any other way from my mind - sadly not making this up. BUT I accidentally did it with Urban Decay (zero - thanks Allure box) AND tight lined without looking like I had been sobbing before I slept in my make up. Can’t wait to see if I can do it even better after seeing how Wayne did it. NOTE: I had used the eyeliner stick so much, had to pry out of UD sharpener. So just ordered the blackest UD liner thinking I got same color. Turns out no, What I ordered was perversion and it is not for the heavy handed (I am) or in between Botox (I was) so I was using it on hoodedddddd eyes not my new normal hooded eye. Sorry so long of post

Thanks for this. I have yet to master my waterline after all these years. My eyes are so watery and even the most steadfast waterproof liners seem to go away as soon as I line there...
