I never had hooded eyes but now I’m 63 and the last 6 months or so, my eyelids have decided they want to look “mature” now, so it looks like I have hooded eyes. The scotch tape hack had been a Godsend until I realized it was causing excess tugging on my thinning delicate eye skin. I now start with doing do my eye make-up first and apply it as usual. After I’m done, I take a single Almay Eye Make Up Remover Pad for Sensitive Eyes (which is extremely inexpensive) wrap it around my finger and gently whisk up the sides of my eyes towards my temples to remove any excess eye make up which creates a clean line while not worrying about messing up makeup I used to put on first. Next I put color corrector on and concealer under my eyes and buff it up along side that clean line made by the Almay pad which also helps to crisp up that winged eye makeup line. I then do the rest of my face makeup and finish up with a light dusting of fine banana powder under and along the side my eyes to set it for all day no fuss look. Hope this helps others who are working with mature skin or those who want to be proactive and prolong the aging look as long as you can. ❤❤❤

I tended to stick with products that I really liked & idk how I ended up with so much I didn't. I never thought foundation looked right on me. Basically, I mostly just stuck with loreal true match concealer for under eyes, lancome definicils liquid liner, estee lauder mascara, I can't recall what brand of long wear liner I always used, but it wasn't high end. I actually used this one blush for YRS that was actually supposed to be for black girls but the color worked great for me. Uhh.. let's see.. oh and sephora brand powder. As I said before, never got into shadows much bc of my hooded eyes. So…how long now until we go back to the 80s? I followed this and it changed my whole face 🤯😍. And what I love about it the most is it looks more natural than eyeliner. Thank you for sharing this with your fellow hooded eye peeps!
I am 54 (55 in July) I’m soooo needing help with my face. I want to have that amazing blurred picture perfect look!! My eyes are the worst. My eyes have that sunken in look, puffiness, very dark circles, and lots of wrinkles. Ugh 😩 Could you pretty please do a video with those considerations? 🙏🏼🌸 Thank you so much for considering this request. 😊
That really depends on your type of hooded eyes and where your eyebrows fall. I suggest taking it higher and higher each time you do your makeup. Take a picture and ask friends/family for opinions. Then compare results. You will find the right spot for you!
New subscriber here. I have watched so many tutorials on how to do a "winged liner" and this one is the best by far. I have some crepiness around my eyes, they are hooded and slightly down turned. Liquid liner looks absolutely awful on my eyes. I have seen many tutorials using the tape method, but they almost always use a liquid liner. A lot of tutorials out there showing how to apply eye make for hooded eyes are not on someone with hooded eyes. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing. Can't wait to try this method.
I have hooded eyes and have always struggled with wanting to be creative with my eyes but it never looks good! I’m so happy to know that this way I have been doing my eyes is for years is actually great for my eyes, so I feel so much better. I’ve never tried the tape part, or the brown underneath. I’ll check that out next! Thank you!! More hooded eye designs, please!
Damn ,i don't know what you were doing in the eighties but i was already one of these make up queens on the internet with no internet! I got up to get ready for school in early eighties one hour for make up, one hour for hair. Damn the country! Electricity out ,cant curl, cant wash.had to get water outside sometimes to flatten my hair.no cell phones, no computer. Got an answering machine and a ghetto blaster,as they were called! I was basically grinding minerals for eyeshadow and I am 58😅
One thing I really appreciate being older and wiser is that I appreciate *me* without caring even one second what someone else thinks of how I look, it’s so freeing! 🙌🏻
As a fugly chick, I embraced the fact that lipstick on a pig will always be lipstick on a pig no matter how hard I try LOOOOONG ago. However, certain life events call for at least a teensy bit of lipstick on a pig. I'm not fooling anyone, but at least I can say I tried for the sake of whoever died or promised to love until death.
Thank you for doing this in natural lighting. I've tried so many makeup tutorials that come out looking completely different than I expected. This one came out perfectly. I think it's the lighting many people use in their videos. Much appreciated 😊
Thank you! Mine have gone hooded and a bit down turned now.. This is so easy and can be adapted with the colours or with the amount.. . Love ya girl, this solves both problems!
As someone who is a visual artist by trade but SUCKS at deciphering makeup, especially for hooded eyes, thank you. I wish I could do the fierce wings I see for light/monolids. It looks gorgeous but you've shown how to love the lids I was born with. Thanks!!!
Thanks for showing everything in real time with no filters! Everything I do, you do in this video- but you have more steps and that really makes a difference! Thanks for sharing this. ❤❤
new subscriber here!! finally a makeup person with hooded eyes i can actually follow and who doesn't put on filters. hope your upload more simple makeup routines too.
Your eye shape is practically identical to mine. Ive never been big on eyeshadow bc of my hooded eyes. Any time I use eye shadow it's only to line my lower lash line. I will use a tiny bit of black shadow on the top lash line like you did so liquid liner line isn't so harsh. I've never lined my upper eye water line. Instead I use long wear liner (in blk brown) on my lower water line. Supposedly lining your lower water line makes your eyes look smaller, so usually people say not to do it but for my eyes it looks better. I've tried better than sex mascara but didn't like it. My fav is lancome definicils and estee lauder double wear & sumptuous extreme mascaras but my lashes are short (and naturally very light in color).
The tape trick has been a game changer for me. Acknowledging my hooded eyes has been a pretty big one too. I always thought I was doing my eye liner wrong. I love this, it's a beautiful look!
I have hoooded eyes and i still do liquid eyeliner. I just start from my lower lid and sometimes angle slightly up or just straight and then attach to the top. When u close ur lids the liner will stop abruptly but it still looks nice (kinda abstract) lol. I see it as who really walks around with the eyes down neway lol. Ur just going to blink really quick. Try it out hope i didnt confuse u
I can see other people look great with this method but I look horrible. Maybe it's because false lashes complete the look? I can't stand false lashes and I look like a clown wearing them... So I will stick to my "batman" eyeliner :)
if you have hooded eyes, the regular huge full lash falsies look horrid- I use the ones that are longer on the outer edge and cat eye shaped as this opens your eye up and doesn't make you look like a doll. A half or 3/4 lash that isn't too long works well (or cut one in half), or you can use individuals that are slightly longer than your natural lashes on the outer corner, then a few more at a slightly shorter length up to about the middle of your eye. This gives you the winged look, but it's softer and more natural and just makes it look like you have great lashes! The trick is to go as natural as possible. I only use lashes that are about 4-5mm longer than the real ones on the outer corner, and about 2.3mm towards the middle and which taper at the end like real hair. Then use mascara to blend them in to the real lashes. Individuals are fantastic, or sometimes I cut a whole lash into small pieces. Easier to apply too!
@@susannatuttapanna2010Thanks. I bought half false eyelashes and shortened them to one third but something is wrong with the shape of my eyes or I just have such taste that I don't like them on myself in any form. gluing individual ones is too much work for my lazy ass also.
I would suggest a couple coats of lash lengthening mascara. If you can tolerate, try using false lashes that are individual. You can use these to fill in your less full areas. Looks natural instead of spider looks.
@@anetaw.3742If you take horsetail supplement you won’t need false eyelashes. And if you don’t have hooded eyes, you need to angle it a bit more up towards the end of your eyebrow.
Your eyebrows and eyes are stunning! I'm slowly dealing with wrinkles and fine lines and I appreciate your straight to the point content. ✔️ Subscribed!
Yes,I thought the same about your eyebrows. How about a tutorial on that? If you already have one, please link it in the reply. Adding lashes would be interesting too. It didn't look as though you had lashes on, which is the purpose of putting them on properly - I would like cruelty free lashes, if you know of good ones - what do you think about the magnetic lashes ? I didn't look if you are a makeup artist or are just great at doing your eyes. If you know of a lip liner that stays on, doesn't smudge or bleed, would you comment on that too? Not only was I gifted with hoodies but with thin lips too.😉 I have tried using foundation, powder after lining and then applying lipstick, however, those techniques did not work. I think that I need a specific brand which won't do these things.Do you know of some? Thank you for also taking the time to write what makeup you are using, it's appreciated. If you could also add a cheaper option in addition to the brands that you use that would be excellent Mikay.
I will rewatch this over and over! By far THE BEST tutorial for hooded eyes I’ve seen in a long time! I also struggle trying to find the right colors which compliment my eye color if not also skin color and not make me look too old (I’m 53) and I’m clueless to try false lashes!! Help!
Beautiful! Can't believe you did that in 5 minutes. Request: Product(s) and technique for covering dark, dark shadows under my eyes. I'm not tired! I just have dark pigmentation there. I've never found a concealer that conceals there. Oh, and I don't wear overall face makeup. My skin is clear and makeup just feels weird, not matter what kind I've tried.
Ive got hooded eyes and have never seen the red/brighter colors incorporated the way you did them. Looks fantastic. I can't wait to try this out. Thank you!
Oh my God, the comparison preview picture grabbed me because my winged liner looked Exactly like that and it drove me nuts! I can't wait to try it! How do you keep the line so crisp when you do the rest of your face after the eyes? I'd worry about smudging it when I do the foundation
Looks great but I have sensitive eyes and wear contact lenses, so I am unable to add any products to my water line. Any suggestions for creating this look on my crepey eyes with my other issues?
Great hack i use this too. I dont have hooded eyes but now that im in my late 30's i find this technique is more age appropriate and gives a nice lift. But its also great for anyone who wants to avoid eyeshadow fallout 😊
Thanks for this video! Many artists forget us girls with hooded eyes, unless they have hooded eyes themselves! I'm always looking for new hacks to try with hooded eyes. Thanks again! ❤
@@bella87bebe I work for a hospital, it’s a minor operation, in and out. People do it of all ages and it’s become very popular for men. It will only get worse with time. If you don’t want a solution, don’t comment on the problem - just embrace it.
@@bella87bebe blepharoplasty is predominantly used to get rid of excess skin, heavy fluid buildup is another subject. Also it’s more common to do the upper lids only not bottom or both. Many Asian patients do it to “create” a crease for a more Caucasian eye, many younger patients do it to rid of the excess skin to look less tired, easier makeup application & rid of a droopy/lazy eye. Like I said it is very common. For many reasons.
I always have problems doing makeup tutorials on my hooded eyes, so I seek out and find hooded eye makeup tutorials now. Love this one! Want more. Also would like some tutorials for fun colored eyeliner, I just got white yellow and green for the summer
Which colors would suit with brown eyes? Also I have a doubt if the color of the botom lash line would really enlarge very small eyes or the opposite...
Oo brown eyes are so pretty! You can wear so many colors! but I think purples look beautiful for color 💜 In general lining your lower lash line can make your eye look a little smaller but if you smudge out the eyeshadow I think it does t really. It’s fun to Play around to see what you like 😊🥰
I have one hooded eye like Veronica Lake, it's not super noticable, but when I try to attempt winged liner it looks crazy. When I was young and didn't understand what a hooded lid was, and winged liner just started to trend. I could do the liner on my left eye fine, then I was absolutely defeated when it came to my right eye.
Great hooded eye makeup tips! I've always had basically the same routine for my hooded eyes and it's worked well but I didn't put the tape on. I would just take a lightly moistened tissue and drag it up to create the sharp line. I'm definitely going to try the tape because I think it'll work really well! I love doing my eyeshadow very creatively with bright colors and a lots of glitter/ shimmer. I also don't line the water line, which I'll try that as well because I loved the look of it in this video. 👍😉☺️
@@sandrabrushwood9177 thank you!!! Yes that’s amazing!! 🙌 I’ve used a tissue or piece of paper to create the sharp line too. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! Can’t wait to hear how it turned out 🥰❤️
Hello first time here! Great video! Do you have a video of your waxing, plucking, trimming or sugaring your eyebrows? Like shaping only without adding any makeup to the brows. Thank you kindly 💓
I'm YET to have an occasion worthy of this technique, but just by watching?? It's already made me put my daily shadow ABOVE my crease. That alone (I feel) is a game changer *improvement!🙏
Any tips or tricks for textured (not saggy or loose but textured) eye lids? Know of a product or a DIY mixture that smooths out textured lids? Thank you so much ❤
Ma che bella questa tecnica per il trucco che hai eseguito su di te ! Ci proverò anche io, solo che a me sicuramente verrà male... Ma ci proverò lo stesso. Bravissima 👏👏👏👏👏 ciao dall' Italia 👋👋🇮🇹
As much as I would love to, I just don't have to time or brushes to do all this but I will definitely try the tape idea. Maybe I should make a vid showing how quickly I apply my own makeup lol
Love the video. I struggle with the skin being very loose and therefore pulling more on the skin with the brush then actually getting eye shadow on it. So I just use a flat brush and pat down the eye shadow. Any tips?
@@Elphinnia thank you! 😊 I think you’re probably using the best technique! the other option is kind of pressing and wiggling the fluffy brush into the skin instead of swiping…if that makes sense. Also using a really light hand with the brush and slowly build up the color will help with looser skin 🥰🥰
Great tutorial!!! I love it when I come across that rare gem of a makeup video that actually teaches a technique that I haven’t seen elsewhere - and this made the grade!!! 😊 To open up the eye, I’ve heard people recommend using a lighter shade in the middle of the mobile lid, using a glitter shade all over the mobile lid, placing a pale Pearl shade at the inner corners or tucked under the inner lower lash line. I’ve also listened to a recommendation to keep the shade on the mobile lid the same as the crease so as to not emphasize the disparity between the mobile lid and the hooded section. Your strategy is new to me - and it turned out absolutely lovely! Seeing the success you had encourages me to try your suggestions. Thanks for the tips!!!
Thank you for this, it is working for me after many struggles with other methods.. Could you please advise on how to do this when the upper skin moves around?
@@emmsue1053 so glad it’s working for you! If your skin moves use a really light hand when using the brush. Sometimes u raise my eyebrows and look down to tighten the skin.
Could you do a video on an older woman that has hooded eyes and some crepe skin lids ...even though I look younger than my age my hooded eyes with some crepe eyelid skin contribute to looking older...make up suggestions please to minimize or camouflage would be nice thank you!
Thank you! thank you! I have similar eye shape and gave up winged eye contact long ago because it looked weird. I will try your innovative approach ! Note to self: add tape dispenser to vanity counter top! 😂👏👏👏
This is helpful. My daughter and I do Chinese dance and need to have dramatic eyeliner for performances, but we have hooded eyes and it doesn't always go as we'd like. Going to have to try this.
My wings are never exactly right one will always be different. And the shadow gradient I could use more practice on both and any tricks you could suggest
@@Helpnonprofits if your using tape make sure to stand back from the mirror so you can see the angle of the tape so their similar. Other wise practice 😊 keep a q-tip and makeup remover close by😉
I still need help with false lashes! For the life of me, I cannot put them on. They always look wonky. I’ve tried different ways but I’d love to see you do a video on that 🙏
Thanks girl! So glad you’re here ☺️🥰 if your eyes turn down make sure you keep the darker shades higher up on your eyelid and keep them on the outer part … it will lift your eye up if that’s what you are going for. Does that help?
I'm so excited to try this style for my next fancy date out with my husband! What false eyelashes do you use? Love how they really magnify the look, and I've been nervous about which ones to get. Are they magnetic?
I have never been able to put mascara on without getting it all over my eyelids. I have to go in with a wet q-tip after to get it all off. Any tips? I watched you put yours on and couldn't understand why it wasn't getting on your eyelids...
I have hooded eyes too and no matter what products I use, no matter how well I prime, no matter if I use a fixing spray and everything, I always end up with the eyeshadow moving around. Which means about 15-30 minutes after I applied eyeshadow, there will be nearly nothing left on the lid, and everything has piled up in the creases as dark, smudged lines. I've basically given up on the whole concept of wearing eyeshadow. It also doesn't matter which brand, I have yet to find something that doesn't look hideous when I walk out the door 15 minutes after doing my makeup. How do you prevent this from happening?
@@nalu_wellness_tribe yay! I bet it will look great on you! you just work around it 😊 use a beauty blender or small brush if your placing product near your eye- but the eyeshadow won’t really budge once it’s on. Hope that helps!
This is a really great technique. I would be concerned tha using a concealer as a base with powder and then more cream shadow on top may move around on mature eyes. Have you tried this with a neutral eye primer instead?
I have used eyeshadow primer and it works good but I like to conceal my veins and discoloration it doesn’t seem to make the eyeshadow move around when I set it
I really like this technique! If you use lighter nude tones, it will create a natural lifting effect within "no makeup" look. And, if I'm in a rush, I don't use tape but hold the edge of a make-up tube or whatever close to skin while bringing on the darker outside color. Works pretty good as well. Thank you for this detailed video! :-)
I have seen so many that do their makeup in various diff ways...the tape is an idea; for me, because I don't wear foundation, coverup or concealer, the only product I have on my face before applying eye make-up is my tightening/brightening serum, so I apply everything (liner, shadows, mascara, lashes) then simply take a moist Olay face wipe and "clean up" any unwanted powders or lines, if needed...if u properly apply liner to the shape of ur eyes, and "match it" to the shape of ur lashes, winged eyeliner (at least, to me) is meant moreso to add "oomph" to the mascara/lashes rather than be it's own statement...happy "glamming" 🌟☺✨

Watching this on REPEAT 🖤 I feel that this look looks much more "mature" (as in elegant, polished) than eyeliner even if you're good with it. Apologies if you already answered this, but which lashes did you use for the final look?
@1:50, the color change is because the lighting in the room must have changed slightly, and if your camera is on auto color balance, it will try to compensate for the change. If you can change this on your camera to match the lighting you are in, you will have consistent results in video color. For example, set to indoor (3200K) when inside with incandescent light, and set to outdoor (5600K) when outdoors or near a window. When there are 2 different light sources, for example, the sun coming through a window , and an indoor light bulb, there is a mismatch of color temperatures. I love this video and you are doing great! It's a wee technicality, but it's nice to know how to prevent it.
I struggle most with the elasticity of my eyelids/crapey skin etc. I don’t like applying too much and stretching the skin any further, if you have any tips on that
@@amandamcclellan1822 do you use an eye cream for that? I like the skinceuticals one. You can also just apply a concealer or primer and set it and that helps make everything look smoother 😊
Amazing! Yes I put my foundation on afterwards it doesn’t really smudge at all so you should be fine….if you want to do your foundation first put some powder on before you put the tape on and it won’t stick as much. Does that help?
Hello. Thank you for this great eye makeup tutorial. The final shoot where you have full face makeup done, you have fake eyelashes on too right? Did you add the lashes after applying your mascara?

That really depends on your type of hooded eyes and where your eyebrows fall. I suggest taking it higher and higher each time you do your makeup. Take a picture and ask friends/family for opinions. Then compare results. You will find the right spot for you!

A lot of tutorials out there showing how to apply eye make for hooded eyes are not on someone with hooded eyes. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing. Can't wait to try this method.

Same! I love having liner in my lower waterline it’s my preference but I know that’s not a popular opinion 🤣
The tape trick has been a game changer for me. Acknowledging my hooded eyes has been a pretty big one too. I always thought I was doing my eye liner wrong.

Try it out hope i didnt confuse u
Nice!
I can see other people look great with this method but I look horrible. Maybe it's because false lashes complete the look? I can't stand false lashes and I look like a clown wearing them... So I will stick to my "batman" eyeliner :)
😊 you do u boo 🥰
if you have hooded eyes, the regular huge full lash falsies look horrid- I use the ones that are longer on the outer edge and cat eye shaped as this opens your eye up and doesn't make you look like a doll.

@@lillylee2410 I thought belph was for people with bags under their eyes and heavy fluid build up. I don’t have that issue.

I know what you mean! My eyes are different too
Great hooded eye makeup tips! 👍😉☺️

Great tutorial!!! I love it when I come across that rare gem of a makeup video that actually teaches a technique that I haven’t seen elsewhere - and this made the grade!!! 😊
To open up the eye, I’ve heard people recommend using a lighter shade in the middle of the mobile lid, using a glitter shade all over the mobile lid, placing a pale Pearl shade at the inner corners or tucked under the inner lower lash line. I have hooded eyes too and no matter what products I use, no matter how well I prime, no matter if I use a fixing spray and everything, I always end up with the eyeshadow moving around. I've basically given up on the whole concept of wearing eyeshadow.
