Awesome explanation , thank you
Panasonic & Atomos joined forces to day. S1H Raw output to Ninja V! 👍
Right!!! RAW video is def an exciting tech. Can't wait!
Thanks for the tutorial. Very informative. Up until now I was grading S1 v log footage from scratch (from the original washed out looking footage), but now with Rec709 it nicely 'initializes' the footage cutting down on editing time. Btw, my FCP-X (v 10.4.6) already had a LUT called 'Panasonic V log' , a generic type I guess and looks close to the varicam LUT although not exactly the same.
Thanks for the heads up on the extra LUT in FCPX. I didn't notice it was available, but good to know.
Ever thought to give DaVinci Resolve for color grading a try?
W. W. I’ve def thought about it. If I were doing more than private films and YouTubing I’d be more apt to spend the money to test out Resolve.
DaVinci has a free version that seems pretty amazing...
hello thank you for the video, for me I have a big problem and I can't found a issue, I have macro blocking in the sky with Lumix S1H, I record in 10 bits with the atoms ninja v. Can you have an idea of this problem please ?
Hi there... Did you update to the latest firmware? I read that the firmware update fixes some block noise issues. I don't have an S1H so I don't have any way to test or give a solid answer other than firmware.
Is there an ISO limit on shooting in V-Log
How many stops do you overexpose V-log for the S1h? It's hard to find any legit info in it. Best!
Great question as VLog exposures can be technically tricky. I don't have an S1H to do any tests, but on the S1, I generally just use the Vlog View Assist Rec 709 LUT in camera to evaluate the scene and have gotten good at estimating exposures instinctually. If on a commercial job, where one can control the scenes dynamic range, best to use a gray card and the waveform monitor to find a neutral starting point. But, ultimately I still use the 709 monitor view assist LUT to fine tune. So, there isn't an exact amount you can just overexpose as it depends on the relationship of the subject to the scene to some degree, and whether the dynamic range of the scene is within the cameras capabilities. The S1H also has a Luminance Spot Metering feature to help with that initial evaluation. Here is a short video related to these features ua-cam.com/video/WgittODG3ZQ/v-deo.html
@@artistcharlesmaring thank you again with the guidance. I do use the Log View Assist, but the lut colours don't look as contrasty on camera as the lut does through premier.
@@FLUKEMEDIA Yeah... still some guesswork to it no matter what.
Do you have to pay extra for the S1H Vlog?
Brother Love no it comes preloaded is my understanding
I think Jerry Garcia would have loved your studio.
