I think it's really cool that people do these videos and your video definitely helped. However, two things were missed that i'm sure many had issue with. One, I had to figure out my self because no video, nor the panasonic website giving specific directions on how to update, mentions this one that stuck me in a state of confusion for like two hours. First was that if you have bluetooth on, which is often on, you won't be able to get into the body firmware update at all. If you read the comments below, you did mention this in a comment but that stumped me for about ten or so minutes before I figured it out my self. The other was the most difficult and that is the lens update. Nothing, nowhere, no video and even Panasonic directions for updating body and lens, don't say a dang thing about how to do the lens. So let me fill anyone in since it took me a long time and a lot of frustration. You have to go to the Panasonic site after you already updated the body firmware and choose your lens firmware update. It’s not a .zip file which no one mentions at all, it's a .plf file. Take your SD card from the camera and get it back onto your computer and toss the .plf file (4001V011.plf), into the card the same exact way you did the firmware .zip file for the body. Eject the card, put it back into the camera, go back into the firmware settings, click on firmware update setting, and it will automatically put you right back at the same screen when you were updating the body firmware but now it will say "lens," in the white box where as before it said "body." Now you're golden. I wish that people who gave instructions realized that you MUST cover every part of this, not just assume we'll figure it out or we wouldn't be here to begin with. Panasonic missing this on their "how to update both," is shocking.
ChrisTopher Thanks for helping... We did the firmware update and it flowed perfectly on one camera with the exact directions we shared. It wasn’t until later we heard that Bluetooth on was a hidden issue. It even stumped Lumix, but a fellow photographer figured it out. I don’t think anyone creates a video not thinking about everything, but sometimes it works flawlessly and suddenly an random unknown issue shows up nobody saw coming.
Together In Style I get it. The bluetooth was a pretty easy solve once you showed disconnecting the hdmi, I linked that with any other form of data communication. The lens update is where nobody on you tube nor Panasonic explained at all. Literally no body and it stumped me that Panasonic’s directions for body and lens mention nothing at all about how to proceed with lens after body is updated. Go check it out. They literally stop after the body update and we are left to just figure it out for the lens update. It’s not some thing that happens automatically or intuitively.
Thank you. I kind of figured what you were going to show but is nice to be confirmed. Have a good one and keep making the videos! Some day I might learn how to use this camera LOL
Thanks! I had issues getting this to work. I didn't set the card in the camera first to get the 'private" file loaded before copying the .bin file onto the card on my computer and then back to the camera. Nicely done!
No you are good to go... We just worked with the S1H on a project last week. It's such a stellar camera so congratulations. I am sure it will serve you very well with any level you are creating on. After using it, I REALLY want to get one myself. It has more power than I probably need, but it's certainly an incredible system.
@@neilseiffer We didn't attach on on this project, but there was one attached in NYC at PPE I was playing with. All HDMI has latency as far as I am aware regardless of camera, but it must have been nominal. In fact, I didn't really even notice it, but of course I wasn't thinking to look for it either.
🤔 No idea wish I had info on that to help but we don’t currently have an S1H. First I’ve heard of an issue of that sort. Do a search if you haven’t already. Best of luck.
A few thoughts to be sure of... 1. Did you format the SD card in camera first? 2. Did up unzip the file so you have a .bin file extension and NOT a .zip? 3. Did you put the .bin file in the root of the SD card? Meaning it should not be in a folder.
great video
subbed!
Cool glad it was useful 👍
Hello Charles, your video isn't new but it's still usefull. Thanks a lot from Paris.
Cool Serge... Glad it was still helpful after all this time.

@@ChrisTopheRaz Well thanks for the heads up... Maybe something I should tackle knowing this. Appreciate you chiming in.
Together In Style You’re welcome. It’s too bad you can’t update videos.
Wow, thanks Charles. I struggle sometimes with the tech side, your knowledge and ability to explain clearly is a Godsend. Thanks
Thanks Paul... Happy to be of help in some small way.

Thanks Maurice... Trying to fit videos into the work and creativity, glad to know it's appreciated!

Thanks for reminding me! I have this weekend off from weddings so now is a good time to do this.
Cool... The update was easy, and def worth the trouble.
thank you very much
Great video. I just purchased S1H Full- frame 6K, 4K DCI (November 4, 2019)....does this camera need any firmware updates before I start to use it?

Have you attached Ninja V for recording from S1H? Did you use any external monitors, I have heard their may be some latency in the screen.

When I try to update my S1H to firmware 2.0 I get "unsupported format" on my MAC, so I cannot update. What gives?

@@artistcharlesmaring Thanks. I did finally figure it out.
I can't update Lumix S1, I do everything you say in the movie, my camera can't see the software, what can I do?
