I've said it before and I'll say it again: when you want to see the CORRECT way to play a Skynard song watch Scott. Thanks brother!
Dude is the best. 35 years ago I played in a successful band playing a lot o skynyrd. Knew this song note 4 note. I was lead on the end. 35 years later couldn’t quite remember it. Watched this, it all came back
Yah we did too. Brings back so many awesome memories. We had so much fun playing parties and bars and played a lot of these songs. Southern rock and blues was our thing and we were passionate about it.
I want to be Scott Raines when I grow up 🤘
🤣
Cant believe this channel isnt bigger. All the nuances you show (and hear/pickup) is a masterclass in guitar playing.
This channel is a gift ! I got to see the Artimus Pyle band is person. They play these songs so well.
That Steve Gaines solo at the end is one of my favorites of all time. LOVE the way it kicks in after the moment of silence. Beautiful, thanks so much for sharing this. Would love to hear if you've picked up any Steve Gaines anecdotes in your travels, from Ed King or anyone else. Like Eddie Cochran, a bright and cheerful light snuffed out much too soon.
"That moment of silence and the "UUUh !" that follows, Is the hook and it's absolutely perfect. So many songs overuse the " hook" and it becomes cliché. It's pure genius..
This is one of my top 3 favorites from L.S.
Got that right, call me the breeze & I know a little. I can't decide which I like best so I say " top 3".
You are a Godsend , we are doing 90 mins of tribute to them and a direct connection like you is almost a spiritual masterclass.... just chilling . Amazing. Grateful for all the time you took to post all ths.
This is my favorite youtube channel ... sincerely. I'm always impatiently looking forward to your next video, Scott.
Well Scotty….. you gave me a gift of seeing someone else play it and demo rhythm and lead and do a fabulous job on a song we both love. I came to live in Jacksonville because of Skynyrd…. Got to meet all of them and this music is as fresh as the day it was written. My happy place is putting you in my big screen and turning up the theatre sounds system and playing along with you!!! That laugh after you finish playing makes my day!! Thanks brother…. you got that right!!!!
Hello Scott, You have hit it on the nail head ! I enjoy watching and learning all of my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd songs the correct way. Thank you !
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼
Scott, you are crazy talented. Keep on pickin’!
Thank you very much!
Loved the breakdown of the harmony licks in the solo! Always a treat when you post a video Scott, thank you so much!
Scott, you are amazing! Thank you so much for doing this from the love of your heart and your passion for preserving these songs as they were meant to be played for future generations.
One of my all-time favorite songs to play. The rhythm, the groove, the vocals, the solos!
Thank you so much for your time and inspiration !!!!! I’ve been playing on and off for 20+ years but I accidentally fell onto your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve never been so motivated as I am now.
Thank You Thank You Thank You Man ! I weld for a living and I see so many of the old timers passing in the welding industry and taking their knowledge with them, which is sad. With that being said, I thank you so much again.
You got that right!!!! I remember cranking my stereo and playing the air guitar to this one when I was a kid. Amazing song, thanks so much. Definitely going to try and play this one!!!!! On a real guitar this time :-)
Your tone is phenomenal.
Thank you!
Thank you Scott! I am an old player and really appreciate this old music ( that I never tire of) and what was behind the songs when they wrote them!
Scott you are such a bad ass player man!! Geez this is one of my fav songs but definitely my favorite video of you playing the tune. Thanks for what you do here.. Solid man!! 👏👏👏👏
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. YOU LEARN TO PLAY ONE SKYNARD SONG. YOU LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR. THESE CHORDS,NOTES, ARE PLAY THROUGHT THE WORLD. BUT ONLY SKYNARD PUT IT TOGETHER WITH A UNIVERSE OF SOUND. AS YOU SAID. ITS GLOBAL.
Makes me smile every time I watch this video!
Scott, I really appreciate all the work you do making these videos, I play in a band and I always refer to your videos for all things Skynyrd thank god for guys like you who are willing to share this knowledge with us players who want accurate information about these great tunes.
Hey Scott love your work on UA-cam . I've been playing to Skynyrd songs my whole life , and I'm 67 years old at present, yes guess you could say I'm a die hard fan. Thanks to you putting out those tutorials You've dialed me into the licks and riffs I couldn't get from the listening to common available music systems as they just don't pick up all the hard work that was they put tracks to. It's sad but a perfect example is what you hear, or more to the point is all the tracks you don't hear from FM radio. I'm sure the commercial industry has their fingers in that pie but that's a whole different beast.
My request to you is could you do your magic on the song "what's your name" ? Again my hats off to you Scott, love ya brother
I come from the shredder school (Van Halen) etc..with that said.. I've always had the utmost respect for L.S. you tore it up... God bless you brother....
The first 2-3 minutes of this video described my situation exactly! Thanks so much for your videos Scott!
Thanks again, really enjoyed this one,............now if I could just nail that solo !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Scott. Love every single one of these Skynyrd Tutorials. Learnt so much from you. Thanks.
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼
Thank you so much Scott, I love your tutorials, great work, you’re a really great player and a great teacher.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Man! In one night you've helped me open up my guitar playing to another level.. loved me some skynyrd since I was a kid and your videos are very very helpful and I thank you from the deepest part of my heart...Cheers to you sir you're an amazing picker
Loving your videos! Thanks. I would note that Steve played his black Les Paul Custom as seen in the Asbury Park Concert from July 1977. His solo at the end is indescribable. How he made his Les Paul sound like a Strat is beyond me but he's my favorite guitar player of all time!
bro, he's my all time favorite also. cheers
He had split coils with pull pots
Another great video. Thanks again Scott! Every time you post a video it feels like a birthday or Christmas for me. Much appreciated.
Great song and great lesson! Just stumbled upon your channel. Great playing too! I've been a Skynyrd fan for 40 years!
Thanks for watching, Jay! 🙏🏼
Damn Bro ! Now I have to completely re learn the whole song . You absolutely just blew my mind. I was playing it like 50% different ,but your way is definitely the correct way. Thank you . This is probably my #1 skynryd tune and you just shattered me. But I thank you ! Now I can finally play it correctly .
Awesome! 🙏🏼🤘🏼
Just awesome to learn from someone who knows what they are doing , as a 56 year old southern boy who grew up with this music its part of our life story and honored to be able to attempt this awesome music
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼
Great lesson and thank you Scott.
I played for many many years Bass and guitar and even some Drums and this brings back all the great times. Thanks for sharing Peace

And thanks for all your knowledge/help!
You Rock,

Scott, what a huge blessing to have this content. These songs have so much groove and are so fun. Love watching you play and have learned so much. Thank you for being such a humble guy just wanting to pass on these great songs.
Thank you for watching!
Usually the first thing I do is just hit the damn up vote 'cause I know I'm gonna love it. Don't change a thing sit right keep on doing it. Love the dissection. Rock on dude.
These rock dude. a million thank yous
I would love to have you do That Smell. We played that in our band long ago. I played drum back then but now learning guitar and these are fantastic songs to learn. Love it!
WOW you nailed it my friend.....awesome!!!
There seems to be a lot of buzz around LS lately more than ever . So many audio tracks , vids, documentaries , lessons like this ,live footage & the reaction vids. Those are really peculiar . It is obvious that YT has given everyone so much footage of the band & everything else that was gathering dust for a couple of decades until the high band web & then Smartphones , ubiquitous . Great playing Scott . As far as I can tell , at this point , you seem to be the high authority on LS guitar work now that Gary is gone . Thanks ,dude !
Need not be surprised about the response given the quality & nature of your efforts. Looks like LS isn't going away any time soon. Cheers, Scott!
What a great resource. Really appreciate it! This tune in particular is a lot of fun to play.
Really enjoying all your videos Scott. After finding your tutorials, I got my guitar back out and started working on On the Hunt again. That's probably my favorite Skynyrd song, but I can't say there's any Skynyrd song I don't love. Looking forward to seeing you guys play in October in Edwardsville, IL. Steve Gaines is still my guitar hero and I've always loved You Got That Right. Thanks for all your great videos.
Nailed the tone playing and vibe! Thank you!
Dude!! Cool video dude!! Thanks a- hole-bunch! I could never get the little in between there super 😎! That looks freaking fun!!
It is!!
Thanks so much Scott. I am so so grateful for your Video tutorials. Of course this is another one I have been playing wrong as I hear all three guitars, and take the notes from the prominent ones I hear, and play those. I can learn from you all day long. You have a Great way of conveying the chord changes, and showing the viewer exactly whats going on. Already my intro to 'Swamp Music' sounds so much better thanks to you. I will be following you. Thanks. send our Love from Long Island, NY to Artimus, and the rest of the Band James
That’s awesome. Thanks, James! 🤘🏼
So enjoyable watching you do the play thru.....pick up several things just from watching that!
Wow, what a great song!!! You killed it, tone, feel, everything!!! Awesome job, thank you for posting this.

I agree that Ed was integral and his guitar licks were something worth emulating.

Such a great tune. Thanks for the terrific lesson! Total Strat song!
Love ya Scott,no dust on the 'ol tele thanks to you.
The first Video I watched was the Ed King tribute.I am loving this now! I am going to see Lynyrd Skynyrd at Rockville in November but I will see y'all in Glasgow, KY on September 11! Can't wait! You are awesome!
Boy I destroyed my albums back then learning this shit until the sony walkman came out and then I could record and use the CD player. I learned a ton of spouthern Rock.I played in pretty good bands when I quit playing but I still played enough to keep my chops up until about 10 years ago. I was just too busy with work. I went into production work, mixing, lighting and everything else that goes with it. I was making a lot more money doing that and just couldn't do both. Can't be in a band and book shows when you work in live entertainment because the shows are not all on weekends but most of them are. I have a nice club and small street festival sound rig and a small lighting system. I just might start another band now that I can take off work now and then when I want to in my semi retirement years. All I need is a decent paying hobby and no more work for me but as we all know bands are not easy to kep together,
Amen to that!
I’ve watched all of them. Great stuff! You should do more of them.
Thank you!!!!!
I’m a bran new subscriber and I just wanted to touch base with you on my reasoning for subscribing …..
you’re sound system…state of the art
Video quality… state of the art
Teaching skills … state of the art
Not too much teaching .. just enough for me.. keep up the great work… I stumbled on your utube spot and I will spread the word … I’m 63 and playing every extra minute I can…. Thank you !!
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Great lesson love the strat..
Awesome playing. Skynyrd is one of the greats. It’s about time someone is revealing how great this band was!
God bless you for sharing your background and music. Hearing Lynyrd Skynyrd for the first time in the 70s just made me a fan forever. I’m learn Simple Man. Cause what’s my mother always told me. I was even in a play about Hank William Sr. Lonesome Hwy. It’s about how Hank hung out with a black street singer. His name was Tetot. And he help Hank Sr sing. I played Tetot. And it’s just reminded me of Curtis Lowe.
Finally someone who knows it right, Thank You so much, it makes me want to learn it right, I keep saying that's what they did, man I was playing it so wrong. Thanks again
Great job, I love it!
This is Great stuff! I wish more groups like Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special exist! This is great! Thank you for posting this.
Your like my food for the week. I got to eat. You been feeding me for the last year. Your shit is so freaking spot on. Been playing since I was a kid. Had no ideal what I was trying to do. But at 50. I’ve said. You always wanted to be a bad ass guitar player. And here I am. Learning the music of my roots. You are God Sent. Thank you. No shit.

Scott, Just subscribed. Great video and I learned a lot.
Awesome....have not tried this one yet!...Looks like you was meant to carry the torch of Lynyrd Skynyrds great guitar work by continuing to feed us hungry fans frynd!
Thank you for watching, Jeff! 🙏🏼
@@seraines Always frynd
so good
Your hard work show's 💪 🙌 👏
love it
Another awesome job!! Leon's bass lines In this song are great. How does the APB bass player like covering some world class bass lines? Hes bound to be very good if hes covering Leon's parts to a t.
Dave works hard on the bass parts. They are no joke! Many link with guitar lines, so we have to coordinate it all together. Leon and Ed had such cool, slinky styles on bass. Amazing!
Excellent freakin excellent had to sub cuz you southern rock like it should be. Thank you
Thanks for watching, Rick! 🙏🏼
Just subscribed, love your videos.
Good stuff Scott.... all the way from Glasgow
Right on! Thank you for watching, Alex!
That was very nice.
Awesome
