Canadian Gold Maple: The Perfect Gold Coin?
Вставка

- Is the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf the best gold coin around? In this video, we will go through why I believe the gold maple is hands down the best gold coin that new investors should buy and long-time stackers should add to their stack. The gold maple is a timeless coin that was first introduced in 1979 and is arguably the most beautiful and most recognized gold coin in the world. Additionally, the gold maple offers one of the lowest premiums around compared to other coins like the American Eagle, allowing you to stack more gold with every dollar. Here's why I am such a big fan of the gold maple!

Awesome collection of gold coins there Sean. Love the maples, unfortunately I dun have any 🤣🤣 Cheers 😊👍🏻
Thanks for watching Georgie!
if you are in the UK Gold Britannia is exempt from CGT (Capital Gains Tax)
Its 5 security features are the best
Just got my first ML a a few days ago, although only a quarter oz. Had to start somewhere! Nice video Sean!
Thanks for watching. Can't go wrong wth the maples!
Let me tell you something, you're not missing anything by not having a one ounce gold Maple, it's just the larger version of the very same thing, fractional is the best bet even with higher premiums
When I started out I only brought Eagles , now I look for the most gold for my dollars,The last 4 purchases have been the CML..
Yup, more ounces per dollar is the way!
You're still getting one troy ounce of gold if you buy an eagle or a maple, it's the same amount of gold
@@goldeneye70 American Eagles premiums are way higher.
@@thepoliticallyindependent1512 But why is that?
Enjoyed the Video - Thanks!
Love the Gold Maples. The majority of My Gold stack is American Eagles & Buffalos, but have consistently added Maples, to lower My average cost. I do live in the Northern part of the USA, so the Maples are very liquid here
Finally, I think They’re Beautiful! Plus, always a pleasure to add more .9999 gold to the Stack
~AGM
No problem, thanks for watching!
@@SeanFooGold what is the currency in the video on the table ?
Sean, very well done video. You started with a premise and then supported it throughout your video. I do give credit to the Maples for the anti-counterfeiting measures and the luster. Good advice on being careful handling the .9999 gold because it is so soft! I hope you never have to encounter a fake in your gold stack. I can’t imagine how awful a feeling that would be. Again, very good video.
Appreciate it man! So far I've not encountered a fake yet. I've always tested my gold when buying from a local dealer/coin shop. Thanks for watching!
@@SeanFooGold how do you test? could you tell us?
@@frjuy sigma metalytics test or XFR test
Agree, right now I only have a pair of Maples, but I intend it to be the backbone of the gold stack. IMO, no other coin can beat it, maybe in the looks department, the Britannia is prettier. Maybe American Eagles or Buffalos rule in the USA, but everywhere else the Maple is ubeatable in price, purity and popularity.
Yep, its a tough fight between the Britannias and Maples, their premiums can get pretty close at times!
The gold Britannia is another .9999 fine coin with a low premium. Plus it’s beautiful as well.
yep, the Britannia's a fine coin too!
As well as the Australian Kangaroo.
+ the Kangaroo comes in a plastic capsule directly from the Perth mint.
1. Low premium
2. Comes directly in a capsule
3. Unique design every year
4. One if the purest gold coins on the market.
5. Great liquidity everywhere
Of course everything it's just my personal opinion 😉
I agree with this dude!
You can pretty much say the same about the silver 1oz Maples. Purity and security.
yup, 100% true. Plus the silver maples premiums are not too bad. Definitely an option to stack for the silver people.
I am Canadian and the Maple is my most common gold coin, its the best value and nicest coin. I like the American buffalo too, but you can get a maple and a maple silver coin for exactly the same as just a buffalo.
Get both. That's what I am doing 😎
American Buffalo coins suffer from a lack of quality control though.
The COOK ISLAND $100 GOLD 1 oz. SAiLING SHIP THE BOUNTY is one of my favorite gold coins, but the premiums are high.
yes that's a beautiful coin thumbs up
Thank you!
Love the Maples 🍁
They are beautiful indeed!
Agree, can't go wrong with a Maple Leaf. It is part of my collection of most iconic gold coins. The security features on the Maple Leaf are great, but aesthetically I actually prefer the version without the radial lines, a bit more "old school" gold. The other iconic coins are the Krugerrand (ultimate simplicity), Eagle, Kangaroo, Britannia and Philharmonic (the most elegant, imho, with its frosted finish). And don't forget the Dutch gold ducat, the longest running gold coin in the world (since 1586 A.D. and still being struck).
By the way, Queen Elizabeth II is more than just a throwback or tribute. As Canada is part of the Common Wealth, Queen Elizabeth II still is Canada's Head of State.
Cool, thanks for the insight! Didn't know they are still that connected to the Crown today!
God save the Queen indeed!!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I did not know that about the ducat, thanx for educational bit.
I've just started buying gold due to inflation in Canada. Your video was helpful for me.
No problem, thanks for watching!
As I am Canadian, I am happy to hear your opinion of the Maple. However, I just purchased an assortment of coins, 1 Maple, 1 Kangaroo, 1 PAMP and find that the PAMP and Perth Mint coins do have a certain 'cachet'. But after watching this video, will follow your advice and stack the Maple.
no problem! I'm all about cost nowadays and the Maple still ranks on top in terms of that and quality.
great video man. Thank you I'm going to get a maple. 1oz
i purchased a 2022 klondike five 9 pure. its gorgeous
awesome grab!
Can't go wrong with the Maple... Good Video Sean..
Thanks Mike! It's truly a beautiful coin to stack!
Love them! 🇨🇦 🤩 I have seven of them in 1/4 oz. size and a few 1/10 oz.
Since I reside in the States, I alternate between purchasing the AGE 🦅fractionals & the fractional Maples 🍁when premiums are reasonable.
awesome stuff, keep stacking!
You would be much better off saving up for the one ounce coins. another trick is to buy silver Maples and when you get enough, swap them for a one ounce Gold Maple at a coin show, or even better sell them privately and then buy that big one ounce Gold Maple. The key is watch those premiums. The premium on those AGE's you're buying is slowing your stack weight down! Just a hint.
@@robertscheinost179 Thanks for the advice! That’s a good move with trading the silver Maples for gold.
The only issue is that I’ve had occasion to cash in a 1/4 oz or 1/10 oz every once in a while, and cashing in the full ounce would have been counterproductive to my stack. I put my “emergency fund” in bullion rather than hold it in fiat, so the fractional pays off sometimes.
I hear you my friend. Keep stacking! Watch that gold to silver ratio if you stack silver. If it goes below 70/1 Pounce!
I love the Maples, but haven't purchased one yet. I instead bought the gold Krugerrand (@ 22k) - as I felt I could handle them and let my 9 year old son hold and enjoy them without having to worry about scratching/denting them.
haha that's what 22k gold is good for. Also have a few Krugs and they are quite durable indeed!
I agree. The maple is my favorite too. Second place is equal between Britannia & Kangaroo. (when I don't care about premiums, Pandas 100%)
Pandas are real beautiful, a shame they no longer come in 1 oz!
I miss these gold vids Sean 😅. Hey Pal - question for you. We all know that gold could pull back maybe 15% or more. But do you think gold could be in a bubble…..like the stock market was? Or like housing was? Do we think we could see a 30% + pullback in price or more? Thanks!! I always love your videos.
next video is on gold! my next buying level is 1,900. If it drops below 1,800 I'm buying more
Their is a F.U.N. coin convention show in Orlando this coming weekend of January 6th to 9th. Who is going ?
I'm up here in Canada. Maples are easy to get, and the premiums are low.👍
It's the lowest premium in my area, so it's a no brainer for Canadians.
Hi Sean, What weight of gold bars do you stack?
my 1st gold coin was the 1/2 Kugerrand,,I did not know it was not 100% gold,,so wen a full 1oz gold bar from the RCM showed up I traded that for half and the rest in cash,,like you I decided then to only buy from the Canadian Mint
Awesome! Yep, getting the gold maple won't go wrong. Whether its your main stack or to collect, it's one coin to get!
@@SeanFooGold I`m very fortunate I made friends with my local dealer, everytime I go theres no one we`re alone so we talk for hours,,he even sold me his SIgma machine with all the accessories :)
Good stuff, making friends in this community is important, we are already few in number!
I have a 1992 1/4 Maple Leaf that came in a plastic cover and a red satin bag. Anyone have one of those?
I was looking at prices today.. And I thought I'd seen the Buffalo a couple of dollars cheaper than a Maple leaf
hmm that's interesting. They probably fluctuate here and there based on the dealer. But to my knowledge, maples normally are consistently more cost-effective.
50 ❤.
Maple 🍁 Gang
If you want the purest gold 1 oz. coin it is the Maple, for me.
yep, it's an awesome choice!
Newbie here. Just want to know if year of coin is important when buying gold coin?
Not really, doesn't matter much. But normally, the older the coin, the more likely it will cost more.
a scratch or multiple scratches will never lower it's resale value. Sure it will look bad.. but the value is based on the gold not the design.
What would you say is the best 1/4 oz gold coin to buy?
The 1/4 ounce maples are a good pick. You can check those out!
I have 2 gold maple leafs the old .9999 purity gold one and the new one that’s .99999 purity gold the one with 5 nines on the coin is really hard to find rn
If you hav the burger, Would you go for 50g x 2 gold bars or 100g x 1 gold bar? Or 3 x 1oz coins ?
I would dollar cost average my purchase over a few months. So probably 3 x 1oz coins. 2022 might be a rather volatile year for gold.
@@SeanFooGold Which means a chance to build the stack during a dip.
Good english brotha👍😎
Thanks man!!
Not if you live in the US and there is tax policy that specifically calls out this coin. I like them, but I would limit how many I get.
good insight!
That is the only gold coin I buy.
100% It's one of the best choices!
I hafe one 1978
This coin is the thickest and smallest in diameter. Which is the most compact coin.
Свєта Шибівська Стигматик, Золото Канада ❤.
Sean, I purchased a Maple from TD Bank and it came packaged in an open-ended plastic pouch. That's it. No plastic capsule, nothing to protect it. I was very disappointed. Fortunately, I know to handle gold carefully because it is a soft metal. But what if a person didn't know this and took it out, manhandled it and scratched it all up? Could easily happen. TD Bank should do better.
Nice video!
Thanks for watching!
How do you know if it is gold plated or fully gold in and out?
XRF test or sigma metalytics test.
@@SeanFooGold Thank you, how much does this test kit cost?
quite expensive. around $1,000 at least. However, any good physical bullion dealer will have one on hand. So you can check if your purchase is genuine or not.
Is there any certificate for this coins?
nope, no certificate
For me I'll be Maple,Gold Buffalo and the 50 pesos and 20 pesos. In that specific order 😎 💯
awesome, those are all good options!
the queen isn't a throw back to anything, she was the Queen of Canada, seperatly from her role as Queen of the United Kingdom.
Great video. The maple is the Truth
Simple, elegant and awesome. One coin to rule them all.
@@SeanFooGold yes I love them. Thanks for the video
If I show you a quick video of the 2023 gold maple ounce. Can you eyeball it and say if it’s not fake?
Where can we buy this one Canadian gold Maple?
If you live in Canada, TD Bank.
Sorry to say this but I do believe once the Queen is Gone, This Coin Value will go up because Coin Collectors will come after them
I also like Britannia but sucks we have to pay taxes in america to sell them
Hmm that's interesting. Definitely could happen if the Queen's gone.
Hi Danny, would you buy the older coins with the younger queen's portrait vs a newer one? I wonder if the older coins will be more valuable.
@@melvinwong3538 new because of security feautures
I would not be as keen with a likeness of King Charles on the coin.
I like mine mint sealed. I don’t know why somebody would take them out of it though. I seen a few scratched up .99999 coins taken out of the assay card :( haha
100% I had to be extra careful with the coins for this video!
Hi Sean, is it a good time now to buy maple coins at the current prices?
Hmm I can't really give any advice on when to buy or sell. Timing the market is impossible. I personally dollar cost average and buy in every month/quarter as part of my portfolio.
@@SeanFooGold got it, thanks for responding nonetheless. Your videos are awesome
No problem Justin, thanks for watching!
@@SeanFooGold Sorry Sean one more question, do the same praises apply to the canadian maple silver coins? haha Thanks in advance Sean
yes, the Canadian silver maples are just as good. Can't go wrong with it! Premiums are high lately for all types of one ounce coins, so just be aware going in.
The changing design is the Kangaroo's security feature. No counterfeiter will bother with them when they can perfect their craft with the non-changing design coins. They also have a hidden P in one of the letters. Granted you have to have a magnifying glass to see it but it's there. Britannias and Kangaroos are the best.
yup, Kangaroos have the lowest premium too
Canadian - Good old classic design, high details + sec feature from 2016/7 onward i think
Britannia - Good classic design, with updated design every 4 yrs or so. High sec feature from 2017 onwards
Kangaroo - Trendy changing yearly design, lack details
Philharmonic - Good classic look but forever the same, lack security features
Buffalo - Good classic rustic look but forever the same, lack sec feature. High premium in Sg
Edit : you missed britannia. They have sec feature and low premium as well. My top choice 3 : 1 Brit, 2 Kang, 3 Maple
nice summary, thanks for sharing!
No it’s not best iss 250 g
Blah blah
Any coin with the Old Hag on the tails side should be avoided by anyone and everyone.
That’s great to hear, more for the rest of us to buy who don’t have the bias that you have! 😆
Inbred Royal family
'Old Hag'?
For me there is nothing more beautiful than the marriage of copper and gold(go eagles).. as for the modern Maple the queen ruins the coin, it looks like you have Barbara Bush on the obverse, the obverse is ugly! I'll take the older Maple over the radial line newer Maple any day!
lol nice comment!
Unless this was for a dollar. I'll invest with China.
Why lol…
