From an investment point of view, The Krugerrand is superior to the Gold Eagle( as well as the other major bullion coins) and I will explain why. That‘s because there was a time (give or take 100 years) where there this Gold was exactly worth that money. So you could exchange that coin with paper money. And you could buy stuff with it. this was very informational thank you for this. I have been trying to move some assets into gold since the beginning of the year and this really helped me out.
Thank very informative I learned a lot, I have to do my research on what I'm buying from my local coin shop. I have done business with before buying graduation coins for Grads one year they gave me a nice box to keep the coin in that made it a very nice gift. Now the Gold coin I'm glad I learn it needs to be in a capsule to protect it.
Would never store my beautiful coins in a safe deposit box, there's also the risk that when things get really shitty, you can't acquire them at all. If you don't hold them, you don't own them.
Agree 100%! Safe Deposit Box?!!! It's not insured against any kind of loss, inconvenient & irritating to access & are expensive over time! Gold coins, bars etc...are beautiful to hold in the hand & admire...spend some time with them! A legacy left for your kids! It's yours to hold & offers insurance/hedge in the future against a weak paper $! Nothing get's cheaper over time...a gross understatement that needs no verification! The operative word is "INFLATION"! Research gold history! Screw the bank...don't make them any richer! Get yourself a good house alarm system...NO(!)...get 2 house alarms (redundancy), external CCTV, a big heavy steel safe & bolt em down!!! P.S. Pay close attention to the world affairs & it's impact on the markets...geo political events, commodities etc...& gold prices (trending)! Buy when it's cheap, comfortable & affordable for you!
Personal opinion, I’ve personally only bought metal when silver is under 16/oz and gold under say 1700/oz(though most of my gold was bought when it was way cheaper, like 5-600 in 2005 ish) but anyway, point being, spot price shifts and runs opposite the dollar generally. When the dollar is doing real well, metal will be down, ThTs the time to buy, then when the dollar is weak, metal is up and that’s a good time to sell. This usually happens in ten year increments or so, so it’s very much a longer term plan, as investments should be
I'd recommend coins too. They're much easier to verify that they're genuine when you have them without capsule. You can do all sorts of non destructive measuring and testing and if you're just a little bit of knowledable you can be 100% sure that the coin you have in your hands is genuine. Bars are harder to verify. Sure you can take them out of the certificate such is typically in and measure it but then you'll loose money the day you sell them. On top of that because of their shape they don't have as well defined ping tone to it as coins. On the other hand bars can be easier to store as long as you don't buy very small ones and if you like the idea of them having a serial number then sure bars is for you. But to really gain storage benefits you need to go for at least 50 gram and preferably 100 gram and for most people with todays gold prices that is a really large amount. Bottom line stick to coins. When you have enough you can consider storing them in Hartbergers instead.
@@2is1gold People also ask Can you find gold in WV? Gold in West Virginia There are no commercial gold mines operating in West Virginia. Despite the lack of gold found within quartz, very small quantities of gold can be found within the state. As with almost any state, very tiny specks of gold have been reported to be found in several creeks and rivers.
An important point about Krugerrands is that they usually have a lower premium than Eagles, and as you said are respected worldwide. Some people equate gold ownership with Krugerrands. The only downside is that Krugerrands have reporting requirements for tax purposes when sold that Eagles don't have if you live in the United States. I'd buy either Eagles or Krugerrands, not really interested in anything else. I also like the durability of 22K over 24K. Storage can be controversial. Some people like to do midnight gardening for their gold, but it's important to remember where it is. 🤔
I prefer to think of it more as a fallback plan rather than an investment. Should things go belly up for me, I won't be destitute. It also helps me not waste my money on frivolous things as much. Plus, they're shiny and I have the brain of a crow apparently 😂
If you don’t need the cash now, hold on to them. They are a hedge against bad times and high inflation, which is quite likely within the next couple of years.
I've been buying gold and silver coins for years, but I still LOVED this video. Your camerawork is outstanding - I'm seriously impressed with the detail you got on your coins. Great channel every video has interesting topics on gold - **newbie alert question** - what's the smarter buy for the gold buffalo? random year coin (cheapest price) 2021 (middle range price) or 2020 (most expensive price) - Is the 2020 coin simply more expensive because of higher buyer demand/popularity?
Yep, 2020 are harder to find, so the online dealers increase their price. There’s no reason to buy one year over another in terms of stored a value. Any dealer buying back from you would price them all the same. Cheers!
I just started buying mine and I bought the British Britannia two of those I bought a South African cougaran and an American double eagle all 1 oz coins
I always wanted to trade crypto for a long time but the volatility in the price has been very confusing to me although I have watched many UA-cam videos about it but I still find it hard to understand.

For some reason, my LCS almost never has American Gold 1-Ounce Coins available, so lately I’ve been having to stack up on Krugerrands, which I really don’t mind, they’re nice coins and they definitely hold their value..
It’s amazing how many good folks out there think that Buffalos are somehow better than Eagles because they’re “purer.” They both contain one ounce of pure gold! The reason why the Eagle is actually the better **coin** is that it weighs about 1.09 Troy ounces (not the standard 1 ounce coin). Why? That extra tenth of an ounce is a copper-silver alloy that has been **added** to the coin to greatly improve durability. That’s it!
ya very nice coins mate. personally i think they are a much nicer looking coin. but i'm a coin collector so i'm more interested in the esthetics of the coin.
Decent video, easy to listen to also for a foreigner. I am pretty new in this field. Just gave me the confirmation that I did the right thing of buying a gold coin. Though not living in the USA I think the Eagle is absolutely beautiful. I find it important that I like the coin as well, although not my country. Thanks for info I subscribed.:)
In any commodity trading, worst time to buy these thing is when general public become frenzy, as an example, as now, at this very moment. Unlike real commodities whose prices are backed by a real industrial need, prices in gold are highly manipulated by those who controls the market. I suggest perspective buyer to observe and analyze premium spread between mint direct to dealer prices; narrower the spread, better the time, and vise versa. Generally, public, especially the inexperience ones, will be reluctant to buy from a private dealer, but always prefer mint direct, hence the large gap in premium spread. This is nothing more than a contrarian tactic, but works every time, not just in gold, but in real estate, stocks..etc.
Thanks. Good info. I own most everything you covered in this video. I am looking to purchase a 1 oz Mexican gold Libertad, but the price is very high (i.e., approx $1000 higher than spot). Do you know why the Libertad price is so much higher than spot (versus the Gold Eagle or Kurgerand)?
Two questions: is it worth sending bullion coins to PCGS/NGC or are they better off raw? If they get damaged or scratched, does it matter when you go to sell since there's no numismatic value?
You forget to mention the UK Sovereign coin as a "Starter coin" for new collectors ... It is .917 Gold 22 ct and they have a mass of 7.98805 grams (A quarter of an ounce) They cost around £329 UK price ($455 USD) However they are NOT 24 CT they are just 22CT Gold. They are ideal for someone just wanting to start small... They are a sweet little coin Thank you for this video ... Kind regards Brian
Here in the uk i'm mainly focuses on gold sovereigns, best price per gram. 4x sovereigns is cheaper than a Britannia oz, obviously not the same weight but still works out better imo. I'm also collating a few small bars here or there instead of paying the over priced premiums and 17% VAT on silver. Gotta wait for free trade to open up before i think of buying anymore silver but the small bars 1, 2.5 & 5g bars will replace silver with regards to bartable items should the need arise, if that need never happens thats fine, i still think theres plenty of room for physical gold prices and current prices are pretty good compared to the direction i thnk they'll end up in 10yrs time.
this is an example of a cheap silver coin. With spot currently at 19.103 a 2018 Maple costs 24.2 with premium and then 29.04 after VAT. Britannia's at 27.2 after premium and 32.64 after VAT. No thanks!
I'd be heavy on Sovereigns if I lived there as well. That makes good sense to me. (I'd have Britannias and QB's too.) I'm jealous of your CGT exemptions, but not your VAT. I'd have no silver at all I imagine. Cheers!
While I do have Silver and some Gold I notice that for years the dealers are just hustling us, up then down and back again, I will be very shocked if we ever see a real rise.
I will save money to buy Five Pieces of Gold Bar so that I can inherit something for the next Generation of my Family and they will not experience hunger or poverty in life.
What you wrote is a very dangerous goal because you could be putting all your money into buy that expensive gold coin and the “five pieces of gold bar”. It is very high risk and dangerous particularly if you live in a poor country. Someone can rob you and take all your gold for you never to see again. All work and saving gone in one second. If you absolutely , really, want to buy gold. Then it’s better to buy separate smaller coins than a bar. Then you hide them in different locations. But make sure yourself don’t forget where. Also if there is economic problems happening in your country. GOLD, or SILVER will not guarantee financial security. Everyone will want to sell their valuables, not buy. And if there is no food, no matter what gold you pay, if there isn’t any, then there isn’t.

Thanks for that!

Would never store my beautiful coins in a safe deposit box, there's also the risk that when things get really shitty, you can't acquire them at all. If you don't hold them, you don't own them.
It's definitely very specific to the individual.
Never heard of any cases of missing gold in safe deposit so far
Agreed!
@@izdyhar82 it took me 6 months to get to my safe deposit box after hurricane Katrina. It had been under nine feet of water.

New to this world. One of the best, easy to understand videos I've seen so far. Thanks
This usually happens in ten year increments or so, so it’s very much a longer term plan, as investments should be
Yeah, longer term plan for sure. Cheers!
Let's Go Brandon!
“When the dollar is weak…. “ It is not weak and it is weaker and weaker as long as Brandon is in the WH.
@@doneask1746 Well, the dollar will be no more by 2037 so now is the best time to buy silver

Yeah, coins for me too!

Can you find gold in WV?
Gold in West Virginia
There are no commercial gold mines operating in West Virginia.

Good points!
@@2is1gold There's more, but I'll save that for another day and maybe some of your other videos.
Why would they have reporting requirements? I thought as long as the amount was less than 10k nothing had to be reported.
Think about it, and it will come to you.@@Nick-sx6jm
I've been buying Krugerrand's since the 80's it sells for the least above spot, and buys for damn close to spot
Why is that coin more popular?
@@Kaalerful Krugerrand is not pure gold. Krugerrand is 22 carat which is 91,67% gold (the rest is copper)

Yeah, but there is no taxes on Gold .

Cheers!

I always wanted to trade crypto for a long time but the volatility in the price has been very confusing to me although I have watched many UA-cam videos about it but I still find it hard to understand.
@Ethel S. Lucus .First understanding the financial markets and how it works then you need to know how to study the market chart. That's all you stand to when you start trade with a Mentor

what's the deal behind the face value of a coin being so far off the spot price of the gold it took to make?
i like the buffalo
It’s amazing how many good folks out there think that Buffalos are somehow better than Eagles because they’re “purer.” They both contain one ounce of pure gold!
The reason why the Eagle is actually the better **coin** is that it weighs about 1.09 Troy ounces (not the standard 1 ounce coin). Why? That extra tenth of an ounce is a copper-silver alloy that has been **added** to the coin to greatly improve durability. That’s it!
The Mexican 50 pesos coin is also a great coin.
ya very nice coins mate. personally i think they are a much nicer looking coin. but i'm a coin collector so i'm more interested in the esthetics of the coin.
Decent video, easy to listen to also for a foreigner. I am pretty new in this field. Just gave me the confirmation that I did the right thing of buying a gold coin. @@2is1gold Thank you,i like to gain some knowledge so I am eager to learn.:)
The US Mint doesn't sell standard bullion coins direct, so anything coming from them will have significantly higher premiums.
Thanks. Good info. I own most everything you covered in this video. I am looking to purchase a 1 oz Mexican gold Libertad, but the price is very high (i.e., approx $1000 higher than spot). Do you know why the Libertad price is so much higher than spot (versus the Gold Eagle or Kurgerand)?
Rarity. I don't buy them because of the price. Cheers!
Two questions: is it worth sending bullion coins to PCGS/NGC or are they better off raw? If they get damaged or scratched, does it matter when you go to sell since there's no numismatic value?

You forget to mention the UK Sovereign coin as a "Starter coin" for new collectors ... It is .917 Gold 22 ct and they have a mass of 7.98805 grams (A quarter of an ounce)
They cost around £329 UK price ($455 USD) However they are NOT 24 CT they are just 22CT Gold.
They are ideal for someone just wanting to start small... They are a sweet little coin
Thank you for this video ... Kind regards Brian
Have a few of those and some of the new Britannia which I love.
In Australia since it's not pure gold it attracts our 10% GST (Tax) :(
Here in the uk i'm mainly focuses on gold sovereigns, best price per gram.
Cheers!
Be aware of CGT rules unless you're sticking to UK bullion.

I will save money to buy Five Pieces of Gold Bar so that I can inherit something for the next Generation of my Family and they will not experience hunger or poverty in life.
Good for you!
That's very thoughtful of you. 😊
