  • The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coin is a terrific option for Silver Stackers. The coin is high quality, possesses security features making it hard to counterfeit, it has a lower premium over spot than the American Silver Eagle and it doesn't milk spot! Just a few reasons why it is a great coin to consider for your stack.

    After the US Mint abandoned the most beautiful and popular silver coin design of all time, I stopped buying Eagles. Why? 2 reasons. The Type 2 design is a huge disappointment, with the clipped-wing bird replacing the noble full eagle. But more importantly, the LOSS OF DETAIL on the Type 2! Yes, loss of detail. It's almost as if all the very fine lines on Lady Liberty got "washed-out"! Everywhere from the stripes on the gown, the folds on the blouse, the hair, the cap and the stars on the flag. A real downgrade! "Pay more for less"! So I forsake the high priced, low-quality ASE and started buying Canadian Maples. The Security features are amazing, the coin is beautiful and the detail is EXACT! A good bet!

I also just ordered 10 Britannias because I think they look cool and would like to have a few, I also want to buy a few Krugerrands for the same reason. Silver will likely rise to $100 /oz where it will set a major top. This might happen in 2026-2027, certainly not 2024-2025. Silver requires exceptional conditions like rising inflation or an extreme shortage in order to rise to $100 /oz which might not be its endpoint once it clears ATH.May 23, 2024

    • @floridastacker
      @floridastacker  5 місяців тому

      Yes. Great point. Now today they are about $1 dollar apart at my LCS in terms of cost. The issue is with the supply chain for Eagles. The US mint only distributes to a small number of distributors. With so many middlemen involved, the price/cost for ASEs goes up when their are supply constraints. You did well selling for so high over spot.

    I went with RCML when I backed up the truck . I was new to precious metals ; I could have gotten ASE’s for the same price AT THAT TIME . Now when I inquire about selling ; I find that the maples are dollars less than the eagles …
    Why ?

    • @floridastacker
      @floridastacker  5 місяців тому

      Demand and the supply chain for ASEs keep their prices elevated. ASEs are more in demand, so more buyers. The US Mint also sells them only to around 4 or 5 distributors whom sell them to the smaller shops at a profit. The smaller shops next raise the price so they can make a profit. In the end, the ASE ends up costing more and you get more back for them when you sell due to this.

    Not a fan of Maples as the tube of 25 exceedes the magic $600 mark. A tube of ASE's is still under the limbo mark.

    • @floridastacker
      @floridastacker  5 місяців тому +1

      I actually didn't stack them for a while because the tubes wouldn't fit in my safe. Crazy what can get in the way of a particular coin. I still have about 6 of the retro RCM Tubes that hold 20 Maple Leafs. Wish they still came that way.

    Good video, and I like maple leafs too, but in all fairness, there is virtually no practical difference between .999 fine .9999 fine. That extra 9 in the fourth decimal place represents a few extra ***ten-thousandths*** of purity… which means nothing. It’s essentially a marketing ploy.

    Really don't care about 999 vs 9999. Doesn't add or subtract from the value one bit. The security features are nice though.

      It's important in Southeast Asia, India, and some of the Middle East but yes, less important in N. America/Europe. Cultural thing really, but it's all so close to pure silver it really matters little.

    These are by far and away better than any Britannia, Krug, Phil or Kangaroo. No milk spotting with these and plenty of milk spots with the others. I will never buy another UK coin until they get the milk spotting under control. Plus, these are barely above the cost of rounds. Makes no sense not to stack these.
