    The Britannia should win for me. Cheaper, 32mm diameter like the US coins, better security features (CML has plenty), better obverse, no 1099-b trigger, and more elaborate design. The Maple Leaf is magic, though. There’s no other explanation. Cheers!

    • @CampbellsCoins

      It’s like you’re reading my thoughts. Logically the Brit is the winner on all accounts but what is up with that Maple leaf magic?! Is it the color? The heft? Maple syrup poured in the gold vat? A combo of all three?! Magic for sure. Thanks man😎👊

      The smaller diameter really sets off my OCD, I'd rather buy a buffalo over a maple as it's a similar size to the brit. And yeah the obverse portrait on the maples is awful.

    Both lovely coins. Britannias for me because of tax reasons and the better security. But I do love Canadian coins too. They are about 20% of my stack.
    I did see that the Royal Mint sales in the US were up 97% last year so I suspect the days of spot Britannias won't be around for much longer.

      I do not own a Brit but would like to. I just bought a 1/4 oz Maple today and the price of the Brit is about $20 more for the same weight. Regardless of my passport, I have no allegence to the stamp on pure beautiful fungible gold. As long as it is a minimum of 3x9s fine and the best value...... I don't care if the Queen is on it, an eagle, or, a horse's ass on it.

    For an Australian, the Britannia is the smartest choice of all bullion coins from anywhere. Lowest premium, best security, not subject to sales tax (unlike 22 karat coins) and it is foreign currency legal tender (so it can’t be confiscated by the Australian Government). The Maple is a close second and only because it attracts a slightly higher premium. The American coins are too expensive in comparison.

    Can't decide, buy both. Both are great looking with security and liquidity. I lean to the Britannia as all of the security features are carried into the fractional. The Britannia will catch on big time and watch premiums increase. Not too worried about liquidity as I have a silver buffer to protect the gold.

  • @xeenslayer
    @xeenslayer 2 роки тому +5

    Why was your account demonetized??
    Anyway being in Asia, at least in the country where I am, there's not much preference for American coins. Buffalos are high-premium, and I avoid eagles altogether because I have to pay tax on them because they're only 22k. 24k coins here are mostly tax-free. Therefore I very much prefer Britannias and Maples for their design. Heck, I collect a good variety anyway including Kangaroos, and Philharmonics. They're all the same to me - low premium coins.

    I am new to stacking and right out of the gate as a newbie I have been drawn to the Britannia moreso than any other single coin. Between having the most security features and simply the better overall appearance, the Britannia cannot be beat in my mind. I figure that I'm just ahead of the curve having nothing to compare to at far as previous perspectives. I have a few tubes of the silver Britannia's and my first gold coin was of course a gold Britannia. My least held coin are the A. A. E.'s as I just couldn't justify the crazy premiums. I am having so much fun spending time doing this. It's my new hobby.
    My only concern with any coin is regarding milk spots and this is where maybe the Maple Leaf has the upper hand. I have a few tubes of them as well in silver, both with the Queen and now the King. Also cannot get enough of the quality from the Scottsdale Mint and have rounds and bars from them.

      Try the ring test with a maple leaf. The maple leaf is so thick that the coins could be replicated and seeded with tungsten internally and still pass weight and dimension checks. The ring test of gold coins that pass the weight and dimension tests is absolutely full proof due to the law of physics, but the maple leaf does not ring due to its thickness. I had maple leafs and all they do as thud when you tap them like a symbol on the tip of your finger. Plus the maple leafs scuff so easily just sitting in drawer and shifting around.

    Is that the underground vault in your backyard 🤔
    The one where you pull the branch of the Oak tree which opens up the mile long tunnel leading to the vault?

    Britannia. Beautiful in design. So is the Maple Leaf, in a Zen sort of way, but I prefer Britannias.

  • @bullsharkreef
    @bullsharkreef 2 роки тому +5

    Fractional Maple's do not have the laser engraved maple leaf security feature, so for fractional I would prefer the Britt's if I was into fractional. Fractional Britt's are also consistently cheaper than Maple's, even here in Canada, for reasons I do not understand.
    My small stack is about half Maple's, half Britt's, in full ounce coins, simply because I buy the cheapest on the day I'm ready to make a purchase, and which one that happen to be changes on a daily basis. I don't see the point of fractional gold, I have silver for small amount of fast cash.

      @bullsharkreef 2 роки тому +1

      @@CampbellsCoins I have a question for you that maybe you'd have an answer to. Here in Canada older gold bullions coins are cheaper than the newer ones. For example, a 2021 Maple sell for $3.15 less than a 2022, and a 2020 cheaper still. In the USA, it's the opposite, do you know why?

    • @CampbellsCoins
      @CampbellsCoins  2 роки тому +1

      @@bullsharkreef That's interesting, I was not aware of that in Canada! Just about every modern bullion is like this here. I'm assuming it's because of availability. But it could be opportunity greed. I think online dealers might be trying to make some money off the collectors. I haven't seen coin shops charge more because a Maple or an Eagle is a 2000 versus a 2019, for example. I have seen it for the low mintage coins like Libertads. There is a big difference between the online dealers and LCSs.

    • @bullsharkreef
      @bullsharkreef 2 роки тому

      @@CampbellsCoins I'm guessing LCSs deals mostly on the secondary market, while online dealers purchase, mostly, directly from the mints. I know my dealer only sell new stuff, and they have enough volume to purchase directly from mints. They say that they do buy from private owners, but I'm guessing it all goes into melt because it never appears on their web site.

    Security, security, security! More foreign the $$$ too. With increased counterfeiting wouldn’t you want certainty of your purchase. BTW as an aside, the 22 ct vs 24 cr is a nothing in this case since both coins have one full ozt of pure gold. Eg, the Eagle coin weighs more accounting for the silver and alloys to give it durability.

    I avoid the US mint because of their mission statement to pay off national debt with the profit, hillarious, noted the walking liberty is the prettiest but the Indian/buffalo is the ugliest of all sovreigns.
