- During a bathtub update project I needed to remove an old white drain and overflow cover and replaced with a more updated brushed nickel version I purchased from Amazon. This project is approachable with little DIY experience and as long as your take your time and follow along you will have no issues.

Had to laugh when you said “My gosh that’s gross!” Did not know I could change my bathtub drains. I thought the whole tub had to be removed, therefore the discolored drains have stayed. But now, I will attempt to do this myself. Thank you for saving me money.

As one guy said, replace rubber gaskets too. Also, don't use those green scrub pads on fiberglass tubs. (Or sinks) They scratch the fiberglass.
