Such an incredible kind and profound episode. Joseph seems like such a genuine and kind individual after this.... not that he didn't before, but when Joseph thanked Josh for sharing the story about his mom. What a thoughtful human being.
Full note: the last two Last Meals have honestly felt like the most humanizing. Both Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Meghan Trainor have been so "Everyman" and "Everywoman" and raw and real (especially with their choices) that it's so grounding. These aren't just insane celebrities that are so high above us, these are truly still just people. This show has taken some great turns for showing that. Thank you, Mythical Kitchen.
I tragically lost my brother 12 years ago. It still hurts and I still think about him everyday. bringing them up in conversation is how we honor the people we lost and keep them alive.
Not to say I didn't take away anything from what was deeply important in this interview, but it really is that scene you picture in a movie. Wandering lost around the place where your brother lived, opening that fridge and staring blankly. starting the microwave and staring blankly. Just void of any way to process the crushing realization of what it all means in that moment. Got me tearing up man. Humanity is dark and difficult, and I'm glad he has found a way to cope with those things like many of us have.
Not only is Joseph Gordon sooo handsome but he’s so smart and thoughtful. Respectfully, I’ve been sohhh attracted to him for years. What a hunk of a man. After listening a bit longer, I also admire his strength in talking about his brother. At first it’s so painful but as you keep doing it you realise it keeps them alive. Keeps their souls and memories with you.

I genuinely think this is one of the greatest shows on UA-cam. You take death, a topic so many people shy away from discussing even though it happens to everyone and then confront it head on with these celebrities we idolize giving them the opportunity to be real and humanized. Which in turn allows us to see we truly are all the same. Not only that but the questions are so well written, the research that goes into it, the food( when it’s not just cereal), and Josh’s incredible speaking and communicating skills. It comes together to form this show full of deep connection, laughs, relatability, and thought provoking entertainment. JGL is such a real dude. His personal anecdotes are so relatable -- core memories of cereal and Saturday morning cartoons, Beatles albums, walking everywhere with a miniDV camera, etc. And it gives me hope hearing a voice of optimism for the future of ethical technology; I don't think of myself as a pessimist, but as a realist, it's hard to look at current trends and not predict a lot of disaster. I also appreciate his philosophy on death; I too don't believe in an afterlife, but living on in people's memories is absolutely a form of immortality. Just hearing stories about his brother makes me feel like I've met him. At the end of the day, all we are as people are just a collection of memories, so sharing them re-integrates us back into the great collective.

This was a very deep and interesting interview and conversation with the one and only, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. May your brother rest in peace and may his memory stay forever in your heart and soul. Choosing cereals for his last meal is crazy and also absolutely genius. My top favorites would be Honey nut Cheerios, Sugar Golden Puffs and Frosted flakes.
love what he mentions about his brother changing his attitude. Up until a couple years ago, I myself wasn't open to talking to people that much. When you give everyone a chance before they give you a chance, then you find out potential friendships or partnerships. You can't always think people will just know you are in need of them. Might hurt that not everyone will become a friend, but you can still have respect for them if they're honest.
Ya know I laughed when I saw the thumbnail and saw that it was ALLLL CEREAL but after watching it? I get it. Seriously. I have a LOT of nostalgia with my sister & brother watching TV eating cereal. It has A LOT of connections and memories. Thanks for unlocking that for me.
I really love this episode. Not just because I'm such a fan of JGL, but also because I feel like he brought some things out of you that you needed. You are both such sweet men, he seems like such a beautiful soul and an empathetic person. I hope you 2 become good friends. Love you Josh!

A testament to both of these humans. Their larger than life personalities made a brilliantly touching episode about memorium, life, death, pursuit of desire, and loving living centered around name brand cereals. When Joseph smiles after his bite of Crispix mixed with Cheerios, I couldn’t help but smile.

It's been said on several of these videos, but Josh is such a good interviewer. He gets to soooo much, without it being like he's working from a bullet list, and seems like he gets his guests into such a comfortable space. Bravo and keep them coming
I am so glad I finally saw this! I just adore Joseph! I still love my 90s and early 00s movies, with some of my very favorites having him in them (10 Things I Hate About You!). Fantastic to see two of "my" worlds colliding!
Love him! And mad props to Josh for doing the cereal calculations and figuring out that the healthy cereals are nutritionally the same as the "sugary" ones! 🤯
Fantastic interview. Seeing Josh contain his excitement in the start and maintain his composure and poise while meandering through a myriad of topics without ever feeling off course has made me respect him so much.
This is the best show. Full stop. The genuine conversation and thoughtful questions Josh and the Mythical Kitchen comes up with are such a light in how dark the world can be. It’s just a beautiful reflection of life while also leaning on the idea of death. Deserves all the awards, all the accolades. Please never stop!
This is probably my favorite interview of all time, and strangely comforting for me. My dad died very suddenly last year and it has been a shocking, confusing time for me. He introduced me to The Point when I was super young and it was always a staple at his house; I put "Are You Sleeping?" on my memorial playlist for him, but I've never met anyone else who knew that song. Thank you so much for this.
This was an excellent episode all around - the conversation, the thought that went into it, everything. Cried, laughed, thought about stuff - just great.

This was fantastic! 😂 We love cereal in our household and, even though it would not be part of my last meal, this was one of the best episodes due to not only the deep conversation but the fact that it was ALL cereal. Love that you used different dairy and plant based milks.
When I was younger. My brother and I used to eat 2-3 boxes of cereal in a day, at our grandmas house during the summers. She would stock up on whatever was cheap so it was always a great balance of never getting tired of it. All that to say this episode hit different 🥲

I relate wit JGL's brother. I was extremely introverted and alone while growing up until I was 21/22 and decided that, that was no way to live my life. love what he mentions about his brother changing his attitude.
The term "cereal killer" comes to mind with a last meal like that...
he’s a writer and producer so it makes sense he put a personal underlying meaning behind choosing cereal. you can tell it has alot to do with memories w his bro and the bliss in simplicity
No GMM today and I still get the lingering of Link
i rarely watch these whole vids, honestly i like skipping thru and seeing the good food, of all the videos i sit thru the entirety is a cereal episode..... just goes to show how captivating this dude is genuinely. didnt expect this, ive found a new appreciation for this guy
A testament to both of these humans. Their larger than life personalities made a brilliantly touching episode about memorium, life, death, pursuit of desire, and loving living centered around name brand cereals. When Joseph smiles after his bite of Crispix mixed with Cheerios, I couldn’t help but smile.
Honestly the best interview
actually never clicked on a notification so fast, joseph gordon-levitt is one of my favourite actors since childhood 😭
this has been my very favorite episode of last meals. yall kept it so real. thank you for wonderful conversation and thoughtful commentary. and cereal.
This is giving me Link vibes. 😂
Same! I was waiting for Link to pour the milk one round!
Good mythical morning reference?? 👀
Honestly this is such a dad coded last meal. My dad is a cereal addict too
@@theneighbor4209 i cant tell if this is a joke😭
It's been said on several of these videos, but Josh is such a good interviewer.
He gets to soooo much, without it being like he's working from a bullet list, and seems like he gets his guests into such a comfortable space.
Bravo and keep them coming
bro is so valid tho. every good childhood memory is me eating cereal with one of those straw bowls.
the straw bowls :’)
Tilting it back, then a little to the side to get all the milk.. 😭
I think he said all the "sugary" cereals are about the same and "healthy" cereals are around the same. Not the sugary = the healthy.
Fantastic interview. Seeing Josh contain his excitement in the start and maintain his composure and poise while meandering through a myriad of topics without ever feeling off course has made me respect him so much.
eight bowls of cereal as a last meal is such a vibe
This is the best show. Full stop. The genuine conversation and thoughtful questions Josh and the Mythical Kitchen comes up with are such a light in how dark the world can be. It’s just a beautiful reflection of life while also leaning on the idea of death. Deserves all the awards, all the accolades.
Please never stop!
If food is art, this meal is Dadaism.
😂😂
Duchamp would be proud :,)
Nah it's Warhol pop art
He’s my favorite actor. So glad he was on! Great episode.
Josh, these conversations keep getting better. Thank you.
I really like the chemistry between the two. Not sure what it is specifically, but this was one of the best episodes for me.
Joseph seems like one of very few actors imo that is down to earth and truly someone who would be fun to hangout with
This was an excellent episode all around - the conversation, the thought that went into it, everything. Cried, laughed, thought about stuff - just great.
dude Joseph mentioning corecore is so surreal cus he's probably seen some WEIRD collage of clips together 😭
hes like the anti ryan gosling where hes just constantly eating cereal
This probably my favorite comment 😂
Why does he have to be anti anything? Can't he just be him? Eating cereal...
@@Darapsa coz Ryan Gosling won't eat his cereal
@@lowkeyobsessedngl Okay...

i lost my brother just a year ago, i wish i had enough time with him to be able to know what his last meal would have been by his choice. this is really a beautiful way to pay tribute to your late sibling
Joseph is an embodiment of modern art. This video is so abstract that it is ✨philosophical✨ af. Love it.
This is it; the episode that made me really get it. The perfect antithesis to Hot Ones. The camera work, the interview and conversational flow, everything.
This just feels right. Well done🤙🏼
I’m surprised this wasn’t Link’s last meal. Just cereal. 😂😂😂
Wow I am just blown away by this episode.Honestly one of the best interviews I’ve seen to date.
These two with their smirks and cereal just trolling everyone
He is such a good dude and a beautiful soul. His brother would be proud. Loved the conversation. It was so heartfelt.
That's an insane amount.
That's sweet. Nostalgia is such a beautiful emotion.
@@black_rabbit_0f_inle805 definitely. We were always outside playing catch or something along those lines. I still eat a lot of cereal, but a normal bowl a day now lol
I relate wit JGL's brother. I was extremely introverted and alone while growing up until I was 21/22 and decided that, that was no way to live my life. Now I have plenty of friends and spend a lot of time with them. I think it shows that the only person stopping you from having friends is yourself and if you just keep trying then eventually you'll find the people that will live you
Some of last meal's best questions creativity wise. Takes a lot of thought to generate thought provoking conversation from cereal segways.
amazing questions, really appreciate the thought the production team puts into creating these unique interviews.
I met him when I was doing enrollments for tsa precheck and he was really cool but I didn’t tell him I recognized him because I didn’t want him to be uncomfortable since I had to get private info for his enrollment but he was really cool and it was a cool experience.
You sound like a slave. “I was doing TSA pre check”.
I’ve loved Joseph Gordon-Levitt since 3rd Rock grew up with him love him to bits and he acts exactly like he did in the show when he was a kid and of course he picked all cereal 😂
Oh this is where he has been. Just at home eating ceral. Fair enough
Corny af comment
Such a fan of JGL and this interview is just perfect. Loved it
I always find it so hard to believe that he's only 8 years older than me. Just feels like hes been a star for a lot longer.
Holy... Wild ride of an episode lol that was great. Honestly I think without the distraction of the amazing food made for some great conversation. (Even though I did miss seeing some wonderful food) Joseph is the GOAT
