I worked as an engineer on the Marceline Sub for 35 years and it sure looks different backward. Very smooth quiet ride.
I was a dual tie saw operator for an extra tie gang working for Norfolk & Western out of Moberly, Missouri from 1968-1969. Loved it.
Very nice view of what the BNSF Transcon looks like heading east from La Plata. Good job.

The freight trains run up to 70mph as well
Yea ,This is very peaceful,With the wheels rumblin' neath the floor you could fall asleep.
At 26:40 my uncle's garage in Gorin appears on the right
This is such a smooth and well-maintained line. 90mph is handled without any drama at all.
Does Amtrak actually go 90mph here?
@@T-rickwell, 85mph, but close enough
Wow!
21:07 meet
Also looking by the name of the description, can't you continue to Fort Madison, IA / Galesburg, IL?
This train is eastbound. It came from Fort Madison
Fort Madison is the next stop eastbound from La Plata.
@rafaeloscuros running passenger trains was a lot of fun & good$$
1:03 That is N Brown Street. At this point, the eastbound Southwest Chief has officially left the city of La Plata
The bridge has been rebuilt and was named the Lester Dent Memorial Bridge, in honor of La Plata's most famous resident.
Somebody has built a structure on the old Wabash right-of-way. @ 0:54
More information on that platform here: www.railfanmotels.com/molaplata.htm
That’s a park
That is the La Plata RR Lookout. Great dedicated place to railfan and it is open 24 hours.
Ummm, did you just record the audio from a GHOST TRAIN, I swear to god I heard a train,
I yep definitely you recorded or caught audio from a GHOST TRAIN
Had this video been shot in summer, it would have been excellent. Winter landscape (without snow!!) makes this pretty dull. Sorry.
