I watched this on the re-wind about 1 hour after ... Virtual Railfan may want to go back and add a few seconds of video where they try to restart 6868 and you can see the loco side panels "bulge out/in" trying to start 6868. Quite amazing the "bulging in/out" ...... very dramatic ....
Saw that guy show up with that hose two hours before the engine arrived. Nobody could figure out what he was doing there or who he worked for. Hose was gone the next morning.
the unit has an active issue for cooling performance degraded and low water pressure issues. Unit required water but never restarted according to the log
i thought most engines your suppost to run the engine when hot while adding water to get the water in the system? or am i wrong? i know on cars or trucks you are suppost too
planca3430 definately not supposed to add cold water to a hot engine in anything.... could damage it, and most cooling systems are pressurized when hot.
Likely a water pump. Crew reports unit has low water pressure fault to Ft Worth and then the dispatchers automatically want responders to come out and throw a garden hose in it. If an engine is low on water or throwing faults for low water pressure there is usually a much larger problem.
@Virtual Railfan . . . Really good, but possible to post a "real-time" version where we can turn up our volume and listen to the 'tech-talk' . . . what they are saying, sans music?
Carl Loar THERE WERE 2 ENGINE CREWMEN ! THE GUY WITH THE HARDHAT IS A PORTABLE MECHANIC CALLED THE FIRST RESPONDER! HE IS IN A SERVICE TRUCK RUNNING AROUND THE AREA AND CHECKS THINGS OUT WHEN THERE IS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH LOCOMOTIVES OR CARS!! IF IT IS SOMETHING HE CANT FIX, THEN HE REPORTS THE PROBLEM TO THE SHOPS! THE CLOSEST BEING ARGENTINE SHOPS IN KANSAS CITY!
The cool part is how they stopped in front of the camera
Love the compressor action just as they come to a stop...

Great Video, I watch these live videos all the time.
Long pit stop. "Give me 4 fresh Goodyears and a can of Sunoco race fuel, and make a right side wedge adjustment."
You forgot to have them remove the tear off. 🤣

The unit had already shutdown due to low water and could not be restarted or attempt a restart until water was added.

thanks for posting
I hate filling the water it takes for ever if it's really low haha. This motor must have been really low because it took them a while to fill it!
Wow amazing video, BNSF is a great RR
At 5:30 in the morning, I imagine there were not a lot of viewers on the webcam. But I bet those who were watching had a lively chat for that hour.

couldn't hear them live either due to engine noise.
Aaaah! Okay, thank you! darn.
Awesome, thanks!
SO ,what did they fix with the extension cord.
Or did they have to charge up the battery , SHOULD HAVE USED THE PINK BUNNY.
Not an extension cord, that's a hose. Same question, though... Wonder what they're topping up?
Oh my gosh freaking really now the bnsf es44c4 battery drained down now is broken
I really confused about it
Kinda of Sad to See that 6868 dead battery 4921 dead battery too

Why can't a loco just work?

I was joking it remained me of a public works program. One work everyone ales standing. Think u for the info.🇺🇸👍
*rapid responder. 3 crewmen; engineer, conductor and engineer student
Haha it just shuts down at the crossing I've never seen that before😂
I don’t think the engine broke down..if they already had the water hose then.. maybe it was a planned water stop.
They don't "plan" water stops for diesel locomotives. It's reactionary at best if you see this outside of a yard or locomotive shop.
Exactly 1 year ago today.
Engineer: Pull your pants up!!!!!!
Nice 👍👍
Đầu máy BNSF của tàu số 6868 đang bị sửa
Ready to retire guy @1:00...

Music is pointless and annoying so mute button is handy but necessitates the viewer checking and rechecking for dialog.
