      I think it’s a good idea to have a discussion with your group to find out what is most important to focus on

    Lon is a star. Doing some research for a team building day and found him inspirational. Will feed back after team day and subscribe to Patreon

      I would absolutely love to hear how your teambilding goes, John. Sure, there's science here, but so much of what you're doing is pure art!

    To be honest, sometimes I wonder whether I should or should not identify with whatever team I work on. I've had a pretty strong vision for some of the creative things I do on my own, and I often worry about how much of that vision I can hold onto if I try to bring other people in on it. I'm not saying teams are bad, I'm just expressing my thoughts on vision and collaboration.

      Send me an email at the email address in the ABOUT section and I'll email you a copy. My intention is to post these resources in my store but I'm a tad behind. :)

    Supervisor had a group that was formed and working well. In a matter of a week, she assigned a new leader and introduced new members without formalization of roles. Essentially, she broke a norming phase. I left the job within 6 months.

      Great example of how a team will always go back to forming with any changes made!

    currently, I have people who don't have any direction, it is harder than someone who has the direction and we just need to align. They just follow other people instead raise their voice

      You're right. It's very difficult to get people behind a shared vision if they're not engaged in the first place. People won't care if they don't care.

      @@NutshellBrainery So how to make them think and care Lon?

    • @NutshellBrainery
      @NutshellBrainery  7 місяців тому

      Try to connect the objective of the project to a personal objective they care about. If it's a school project and they don't care, maybe they care about their grade and graduating. If it's a work project, maybe they care about the exposure this project will have on their careers. Point is, we generally care about our own goals more than others' goals, so make them one in the same.

    Tuckman model doesn't work like predicted. And it was tested in quite an extreme environment. It may vary. Much.

    • @NutshellBrainery
      @NutshellBrainery  4 роки тому

      Very true. Like all models developed to help us wrap our minds around human behavior, it falls short of perfection. Alas, human behavior it too slippery to boil down to any one model.

    It’s true that team members need to be committed to a direction to move a project forward, but I feel many team leaders do not follow processes like these to earn their team members commitment but rather feel entitled to it. Rather than saying, you need to be committed, I wish you ended the video by saying, this is how you can earn your team’s commitment.

    • @NutshellBrainery
      @NutshellBrainery  10 місяців тому

      Good point. In another video I point out that you're only a leader is you have followers, and if the followers tell you to take a hike then you're not a leader but a poser. I'll also say though that in and good team, everyone has a chance to lead and earn the respect of others. When everyone is committed to the objective, everyone leads.
