haha yeah he could take the deadlift too, from memory there is a japanese weightlifter that sometimes competes in powerlifitng (toshiki yamamoto) if youre curious
Came here after watching him won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. He is a legend, and probably the goat of this sport, walking away with 3 time Olympic gold medals (Rahimov's gold probably getting canceled soon, 5 world championships, a lot of world records)! Man, I got nothing to say, wish him all the best and thanks for his contribution to this sport!
No "lockout" because it's an oly focused squat and stops at point where hips would come forward for trigger for vertical bar path. It's training a muscle recruitment path for oly and not a powerlifting bar path
Yeah, even basing the general 'you should clean and jerk 80% of your back squat' on his purported 220kg max cj in training, that would only 'need' a 275kg squat. His squat is obviously way higher considering these casual reps at 260kg.
Of course. Why the hell would he max on back squat for absolutely no reason, right before going for C&J / Snatch maxes going for a world record / gold medal in a competition? He's merely warming up. If he went for a max, he'd fatigue himself for absolutely no reason.
KStar Of course you can fatigue yourself on the juice. Being able to punish your body even more should not be interpreted as you won't feel it. Everybody who lifts weights knows it only gets worse the higher the weights get (as in, weightlifting doesn't get easier the stronger you get, because you become able to lift more weight). I suspect it's even worse for people who juice, cause they can submit their bodies to even more punishment.
neometalx9 He would take records in his class with his squat and deadlift. Apparently, he also benches really well (Some articles and people who went to the Chinese national training warehouse) claims he benches 164kg for reps. I have no seen it, nor are there videos of him doing so. But there are videos of him doing dips (with weights) and I sincerely believe he can bench that much by watching the clip of him doing dips.
The PEDs are pretty common right? Just like power lifting, most do it and almost everyone at the top does. FYI... not hating at all, huge respect for any human at that level.
There's a UA-cam vid of Lu Xiaojun Back Squatting 280KG (617lbs). The vid was back in 2012. Would love to see him Back Squatting 300kg (660lbs). Here's a list of Lu Xiaojun's 1Rep Max Stat: (Source: All Things Gym) In Training: Snatch: 180kg (396lbs) Clean & jerk: 220kg (485lbs) Back Squat: 300kg (661lbs) Deadlifts: 300kg (661lbs) Official IWF Record: Clean & Jerk: 204kg (449lbs) World Record Snatch: 176kg (388lbs) World Record Total: 380kg (837lbs)
ken tobias 220 for C&J sounds a bit high, that's what tian tao hit in training as an 85. I know lu xiaojun can hold 220 over his head (there's a vid of that), but any vids of him C&Jing 220? he missed the jerk for a 211 attempt in comp last time too so 220 is a bit high
His Clean & Jerk maximum is actually just under 217kg, not 220kg, and he can't squat 300kg (there's a video of him failing a 300kg lift as of a few weeks ago).
His squats I would think like so many world class lifters would pause at bottom to mimic a squat clean at bottom. How many lockouts with heavy weight on power rack pushing up from a full extension of arms would they do or do they bother with this movement? What Taranenko front squatted in 80's 300 kilos for 3-5 with 3 second pause.
Just by looking at the speed at which he did 260 it looked almost slower than his 230 FS double from 2011, makes me wonder if he's more adjusted to front squatting more often than he is back-squatting.
have anyone noticed how he is built? ive seen klokov like this aswell, ive noticed to me and the majority of people the knees buckle in pretty much in a standing position, klokov however had a born i belive leg issue, where hes knees is more on the outside of the leg, giving more a straight leg look, lu has the same here, hes knees is really far outside on hes legs, toughts?

are heavy doubles a good way to maintain size and strength after an intensive strength-building phase? for a week, month, or even year? or would reintroduction of medium to high rep sets be needed to prevent strength/size loss.
Am i the only one to notice his elbows flares out while coming up (particularly his right). I think that's a chinese technique cuz Tian Tao also does that.
You are correct. Unlike the US, the Chinese emphasize internal rotation and use of the teres major, triceps, traps and lats to lock out the bar overhead. This causes the "flare out" of the elbow you mentioned.
Lu xiaojun has very unusual limb lengths. look at how short his legs are compared to his upper body. Having very short femurs enables you to stay more upright. and also it's a matter of bar placement
Listened to Rippletits and did low bar, ended up wrecking my lower back. Switch to high bar, and suddenly all my lifts, as well as their form went up. That guy is a sham.
sammy2629 You're full of shit. You wouldn't be able to flag if your life depended on it. A side lever/human flag is the easiest lever, and it's more difficult than 20 strict pull-ups. Again, that's a fucking stupid comment. There are pictures of Xiaojun doing flag variations. You have Google, don't you? USE IT.
От количества 25ок на штанге аж в глазах рябит, а парень, тем временем, чуть ли не легче воздуха... Что за... :( Походу вместе с Обеликсом в чан с зельем грохнулся в детстве!
3.38x BW squat for a double. He's won three world championships, the Olympics, and holds the Snatch and Total World Records for the 77kg class. You serious? Rippetoe just spouts bullshit about lowbar being better for athletes--no professional athletes outside of powerlifting do lowbar. I wonder who is right.
Why would you back squat other than showing off? Front squat translate to lifting not back squat. Trying impress a girl in the gym for sure, specially with the shirt off.
He basically squatted the IPF 74kg world record for an easy double and then a pause squat.
Squatting is the only thing though.
He wouldnt be able to get a world record for deadlifts or bench in the IPF 74kg world record
iAnglesClan2 actually he prob could get the deadlift record. He can snatch grip over 600
haha yeah he could take the deadlift too, from memory there is a japanese weightlifter that sometimes competes in powerlifitng (toshiki yamamoto) if youre curious
And with greater ROM.
fangske2 yeah toshiki dominates PL 93kg in japan weighting 85kg only lol
Pause squatting 572lbs like it's NO BIG DEAL. True beast.
I flex my abs when he's gonna squat
Came here after watching him won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. so amazing how strong these guys are
He has bowed out legs like Klokov. Sign of a true champion.
THUNDER Considering their Olympic records you must mean Klokov has bowed out legs like Xiaojun.
Are you forgetting Ilya Ilyin exists?
TOLD YA #getrekt
Barni Böjte I love Klokov but Ilya is unbeatable.
Barni Böjte btw, did Klokov said he was gonna compete on 2016?
His traps look like mechanical tubes. Lu Xiaojun confirmed for robot.
260kg, Pause, ATG Squat, Raw,@77kg bw as a warm up before his lifts. WTF?!?!
it wqas probably the day before. to stay fit
His max squat is 300kg.
+Zeya Cai IT is more. That is the max videoed squat.
305kg
Jerome O'Neill he failed a 300 k so..
anyone know how much he can barbell curl?
TheAgeOfTheWolf about tree fiddy
pete6891 aw fuk bye

Cleanest squats ever
Wow!
Such depth
Much heavy
+1 for doge.
In O-lifting, that's the only depth that is actually a squat.
No "lockout" because it's an oly focused squat and stops at point where hips would come forward for trigger for vertical bar path. It's training a muscle recruitment path for oly and not a powerlifting bar path

@@spacegupta71 damn crossfitters
the crazy thing is this is not his max, it looks more like a casual, routine squat session

Did he just pause squat +500lbs.......
Yes. 572 lbs to be exact.
L.E. Eriksson
wouldnt he wreck some powerlifters if he decided to do a meet?
he makes those squats look so easy wow.
neometalx9 He would take records in his class with his squat and deadlift. you could take all the peds you want, but if you dont know how to train, you wont get to that level...
years of hard work and dedication.
ready...GO
PS: For anyone wondering, just talking about the snatch world record he has just (re-)set
I keep coming back to this video just to watch the way he moves with 70 at the end there. Also I love the way he walks off so awkwardly at 2:05
Feeling exactly the same here. Those moves are fascinating to watch.

+Grandmaster Do It's very easy; provide evidence, and I'll admit you're right.
Sweet facilities! And the lifting blows my mind, lu is such a monster!
This guy is a BEAST!!!
Does anyone know why hes wearing the belt so low?
He squats so upright that he doesnt need that much stability in the upper absomen/ middle back area. That might be my quess
+Jake H ikr, it's amazing how strict his form is
572 pause squat damn impressive
this is beautifulll
Wow his stability and precision wtf....
GOKU?

dem traps doe
How can you even pause 260kg at that bodyweight? Insane.
why does he use his belt that low? anything to do with the hips?
I read he did sprinting until he was 18 then switched to weightlifting full time
He is very talented.
His family name is Lu. So he would be Mr. Lu. The other part of your comment is so unbelievable I can't even respond to it.
Thank you Boffa!
Where can I get a pair of those sick shoulder pads??
id say front squatting just because he has such an easy clean all the time, hes probably doing frontsquats more than backsquats
I heard the Chinese don't poke chest out is that true?
Anyone know what kind of knee straps he uses?
probably none, just those light therapeutic sleeves. Maybe some light ace wrapping
they look like rehband sleeves.
they're these: store.hookgrip.com/shop/hookgrip-knee-sleeves/

Did he? I always find confusing information about him and his introduction to weightlifting. Where did you read or hear that?
(just wondering)
I bet he would do great in powerlifting too

C Moon he's talking about the squat on the way back up I believe.
go ahead squat .
How does he keep high upper body so upright when he squats? I always have a tendency to lean forward.
strong back and core
I think it's cuz his bar is higher on his traps

great hip mobility

what kind of a knee-rap he is wearing?

Легендарный китаец!
Goddamn it China! Why you so good!??!
El mejor del mundo!!!!
that's it.
But can he do a pull up?
Chris Jayson I assure you he can do many pull-ups.
Weigthlifters are strong not only in their legs... I mean, you have to be solid like a rock to hold 200 kilos over head xD
He did BW ring dips for reps, lol
Are you kidding me? Did you even look at his back? He can do a human flag. Fuck pull-ups.
