    He basically squatted the IPF 74kg world record for an easy double and then a pause squat.

      Squatting is the only thing though.
      He wouldnt be able to get a world record for deadlifts or bench in the IPF 74kg world record

    Came here after watching him won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. He is a legend, and probably the goat of this sport, walking away with 3 time Olympic gold medals (Rahimov's gold probably getting canceled soon, 5 world championships, a lot of world records)! Man, I got nothing to say, wish him all the best and thanks for his contribution to this sport!

    No "lockout" because it's an oly focused squat and stops at point where hips would come forward for trigger for vertical bar path. It's training a muscle recruitment path for oly and not a powerlifting bar path

  • @hallrefreshment4987
    @hallrefreshment4987 10 років тому +47

    the crazy thing is this is not his max, it looks more like a casual, routine squat session

    • @AfferbeckBeats
      @AfferbeckBeats 10 років тому +5

      Yeah, even basing the general 'you should clean and jerk 80% of your back squat' on his purported 220kg max cj in training, that would only 'need' a 275kg squat. His squat is obviously way higher considering these casual reps at 260kg.

    • @thesorrow312
      @thesorrow312 10 років тому +1

      Of course. Why the hell would he max on back squat for absolutely no reason, right before going for C&J / Snatch maxes going for a world record / gold medal in a competition? He's merely warming up. If he went for a max, he'd fatigue himself for absolutely no reason.

    • @K__Leon
      @K__Leon 10 років тому

      thesorrow312 Fatigue himself?? He is on the juice. One does not fatigue themselves when on the juice!

    • @kenchong69
      @kenchong69 10 років тому +14

      KStar One does not juice themselves during a competition.

    • @perman07
      @perman07 10 років тому +4

      KStar
      Of course you can fatigue yourself on the juice. Being able to punish your body even more should not be interpreted as you won't feel it. Everybody who lifts weights knows it only gets worse the higher the weights get (as in, weightlifting doesn't get easier the stronger you get, because you become able to lift more weight). I suspect it's even worse for people who juice, cause they can submit their bodies to even more punishment.

    • @flush_entity
      @flush_entity 10 років тому +18

      neometalx9 He would take records in his class with his squat and deadlift. Apparently, he also benches really well (Some articles and people who went to the Chinese national training warehouse) claims he benches 164kg for reps. I have no seen it, nor are there videos of him doing so. But there are videos of him doing dips (with weights) and I sincerely believe he can bench that much by watching the clip of him doing dips.

    • @AiandiDiscuss
      @AiandiDiscuss 10 років тому +5

      The PEDs are pretty common right? Just like power lifting, most do it and almost everyone at the top does. FYI... not hating at all, huge respect for any human at that level.

    There's a UA-cam vid of Lu Xiaojun Back Squatting 280KG (617lbs). The vid was back in 2012. Would love to see him Back Squatting 300kg (660lbs).
    Here's a list of Lu Xiaojun's 1Rep Max Stat: (Source: All Things Gym)
    In Training:
    Snatch: 180kg (396lbs)
    Clean & jerk: 220kg (485lbs)
    Back Squat: 300kg (661lbs)
    Deadlifts: 300kg (661lbs)
    Official IWF Record:
    Clean & Jerk: 204kg (449lbs)
    World Record Snatch: 176kg (388lbs)
    World Record Total: 380kg (837lbs)

      ken tobias 220 for C&J sounds a bit high, that's what tian tao hit in training as an 85. I know lu xiaojun can hold 220 over his head (there's a vid of that), but any vids of him C&Jing 220? he missed the jerk for a 211 attempt in comp last time too so 220 is a bit high

    • @84ND3R5N4TCH
      @84ND3R5N4TCH 9 років тому

      His Clean & Jerk maximum is actually just under 217kg, not 220kg, and he can't squat 300kg (there's a video of him failing a 300kg lift as of a few weeks ago).

    His squats I would think like so many world class lifters would pause at bottom to mimic a squat clean at bottom.How many lockouts with heavy weight on power rack pushing up from a full extension of arms would they do or do they bother with this movement?
    What Taranenko front squatted in 80's 300 kilos for 3-5 with 3 second pause.

    • @TheUnphazed
      @TheUnphazed 8 років тому +2

      You are correct. Unlike the US, the Chinese emphasize internal rotation and use of the teres major, triceps, traps and lats to lock out the bar overhead. This causes the "flare out" of the elbow you mentioned.

    3.38x BW squat for a double. He's won three world championships, the Olympics, and holds the Snatch and Total World Records for the 77kg class.
    You serious? Rippetoe just spouts bullshit about lowbar being better for athletes--no professional athletes outside of powerlifting do lowbar. I wonder who is right.

    Why would you back squat other than showing off? Front squat translate to lifting not back squat. Trying impress a girl in the gym for sure, specially with the shirt off.

    No disrespect, but I would love to see his "roid-plan". Would be interesting to see what and how much he uses compared to BBers.
