    Good video but you missed an opportunity to inform people of good neighbour wifi practices when it comes to channel selection in 2.4GHz mode, in that you should try to only use the non-overlapping channels 1, 6, and 11. That way, even in more crowded environments, competition for bandwidth remains within individual channels and there is less likelihood of cross-channel interference.

      What should I put my 2.4 and 5GHz channel width on ?

    • @eljay1899

      Informative video. But I thumbed it down because of this. Co-channel interference results in better performance than adjacent channel interference. Selecting channels eight or nine as suggested by this otherwise well done video results in adjacent channel interference and will perform worse. As the above comment suggests, stick to channels 1, 6, and 11 for the 2.4 gHz band. The same principle applies to other Wifi bands: select the correct non-overlapping channel that corresponds with your channel width (40, 80, 160 mHz, etc.).

    Thanks Behfor! Great video as always. Most times your discussion seem to cover the context of wooden frame houses. While the info is extremely useful (I bought my router based on your review), can you also expand your discussion to cover apartments (where most walls are bricks/concrete and there are neighbors above, below, and next to me)?

    Thanks for this content, now I know why this annoying random disconnecting behaviour is happening. Reinstalled the Wi-fi drivers, did several fixes for my windows computer and nothing worked, so I assumed it must be the hardware of the Laptop due to it's from 2015. Doing the channel settings now and see if it changes anything 👍👍 (Living in a block of flats with a huge amount of other networks around)

    My solution is to move to the middle of nowhere. But it does sound a bit like a cat and mouse problem, especially in crowded city scapes. I hope you get plenty of likes (your channel deserves them). I would love to see the follow-up topic covered.

    @Bhefor so in lab environment if multiple routers are broadcasting on same band and channel set on automatic selection there is a possibility of clients getting disconnected for brief periods of time ?

    • @Behfor
      @Behfor  11 місяців тому

      When the routers select the channels, they keep using them until you reboot the router or disable/enable the wifi, (unless it is a DFS channel which is a different story and I have video on that) so after the channels are selected I don't see any reason why the clients should get disconnected.

    2.4GHz'de 1, 6, 11 5GHz'de 36, 40, 44, 48 genelde sorun çıkarmaz. Bant genişliği her zaman otomatik olmalı. FCC'de cihazları belirttiğim kanallarda test ediyor.

    This is interesting! Also how does channel width affect things? 20MHz, 40MHz, 80MHz and which is best to select?

    • @dvxAznxvb
      @dvxAznxvb 9 місяців тому +1

      chanel width affects a few things such as network speeds, network sub channels, and range
      if you use only 20mhz then you will hand the best compatibility with wi-fi devices without congestion and better range since you can fit more data in higher mhz but it can be affected by materials and range which can lead to packet loss
      2.4ghz has lower mhz due to its only able to output increments of 20 or 40 and sometimes 80mhz
      5ghz can output 120 and even 160mhz which is useful for higher bandwidth demanding applications such as 4k local streaming or video uncompressed streaming

      @@dvxAznxvb2 things wrong with this:
      1. 2.4ghz doesn't support 80mhz
      2. 5ghz doesn't support 120mhz
