Thanks Behfor! Great video as always. Most times your discussion seem to cover the context of wooden frame houses. While the info is extremely useful (I bought my router based on your review), can you also expand your discussion to cover apartments (where most walls are bricks/concrete and there are neighbors above, below, and next to me)?
Good video but you missed an opportunity to inform people of good neighbour wifi practices when it comes to channel selection in 2.4GHz mode, in that you should try to only use the non-overlapping channels 1, 6, and 11. That way, even in more crowded environments, competition for bandwidth remains within individual channels and there is less likelihood of cross-channel interference.
Informative video. But I thumbed it down because of this. Co-channel interference results in better performance than adjacent channel interference. Selecting channels eight or nine as suggested by this otherwise well done video results in adjacent channel interference and will perform worse. As the above comment suggests, stick to channels 1, 6, and 11 for the 2.4 gHz band. The same principle applies to other Wifi bands: select the correct non-overlapping channel that corresponds with your channel width (40, 80, 160 mHz, etc.).
Thanks for this content, now I know why this annoying random disconnecting behaviour is happening. Reinstalled the Wi-fi drivers, did several fixes for my windows computer and nothing worked, so I assumed it must be the hardware of the Laptop due to it's from 2015. Doing the channel settings now and see if it changes anything 👍👍 (Living in a block of flats with a huge amount of other networks around)
Hi mate. The content on your videos are invaluable. We need you to review best Wi-Fi analyser apps in not only in Android but also IOS. We need you to also record step-by-step user guide for ASUs router settings.
Consider that IoT devices and alternate networks come into play. ZigBee uses the same frequency as CH1 and may cause interference. Some Wi-Fi IoT devices must see the same channel as configured always.
@Bhefor so in lab environment if multiple routers are broadcasting on same band and channel set on automatic selection there is a possibility of clients getting disconnected for brief periods of time ?
When the routers select the channels, they keep using them until you reboot the router or disable/enable the wifi, (unless it is a DFS channel which is a different story and I have video on that) so after the channels are selected I don't see any reason why the clients should get disconnected.
Hi Behfor, Really like your videos mate👍🏻 Can you please make a video how to setup a site-to-site VPN (Wireguard and OpenVPN) with Asus Routers? I would like to make a Site-to-Site VPN connection between my place and my parents place, but don’t know where to start.
I have a AX5400 tp-link, I have a livestream setup with both a iPhone Xs and 11 pro 33metres away, line of sight with the router. Should I use 2.4? Video recording is 30 frames at 1280x720
My solution is to move to the middle of nowhere. But it does sound a bit like a cat and mouse problem, especially in crowded city scapes. I hope you get plenty of likes (your channel deserves them). I would love to see the follow-up topic covered.
I accessed my router to try to adjust some things, like switching channels. But it doesn't let me do so, It has a wifi analizer section with both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies, but no channel switching option. I'm pissed bc I went all the way down from a average of 10 mbs to kbps. It's a sercomm modem. What can I do 😢?😡
Just call your wifi provider and tell them you want access . Some wifi providers like Comcast, and Att... let you have access to those settings only after you call and ask. Once they give you access you should be able to open your app and you will then be able to change your settings.
@@SteveSteveohM I went to the company and fixed the problem with the internet, from basically zero mbs now I get an average of 20 some mbs or more. The cap is 45 mbs. At least I was able to separate the bands by accessing the router. Now I can choose either 2.4 or 5 GHz.
2.4GHz'de 1, 6, 11 5GHz'de 36, 40, 44, 48 genelde sorun çıkarmaz. Bant genişliği her zaman otomatik olmalı. FCC'de cihazları belirttiğim kanallarda test ediyor.
If we have Three or four floor or and every floor we have one wifi ,what can I do if I go to the second floor My WiFi will connect automatically, and also third floor also connect automatically
Sorry, I tried hard but couldn’t understand your question. Do you want your WiFi to connect automatically, or is that something you want to avoid? Please elaborate.
The one thing you didn't really go into is how to deal with neighbors wifi routers using your routers channels after you have statically selected the channels. The neighbor's wifi will still auto select channels and it might happen often if the neighbor also reboots his router daily.
chanel width affects a few things such as network speeds, network sub channels, and range if you use only 20mhz then you will hand the best compatibility with wi-fi devices without congestion and better range since you can fit more data in higher mhz but it can be affected by materials and range which can lead to packet loss 2.4ghz has lower mhz due to its only able to output increments of 20 or 40 and sometimes 80mhz 5ghz can output 120 and even 160mhz which is useful for higher bandwidth demanding applications such as 4k local streaming or video uncompressed streaming

One of the best and most comprehensive Wi-Fi channel videos I've ever seen! Thanks for sharing!

@@Behfor thank u!
Thank you. I love your previous video. It’s funny . Hard to believe it was five years ago.
You and TheGameFather channel helped me with ps portal stream issue I had. Thank you 🙏
Yes, what do you recommend as a wifi analyser on iOS. I know it’s limited compared to Android.
Good stuff. I've been hearing about the channel examine... thank you

Awesoem advice! For some reason I cant change my channels on a newer Asus router even if I disable smart connect. 😅
Thanks! You should be able though!
Love your videos man. 👍
Really appreciate it 👍

My question is, how about the bandwidth? Shall we also change that? On some routers it can be also adjusted.
Thanks for the video, but it is incomplete without Wi-Fi app name. Which one do you use in this video?
Ahhh, found it in a separate video! Thanks a lot, you are the best!!!!

This is interesting! Also how does channel width affect things? 20MHz, 40MHz, 80MHz and which is best to select?
chanel width affects a few things such as network speeds, network sub channels, and range
if you use only 20mhz then you will hand the best compatibility with wi-fi devices without congestion and better range since you can fit more data in higher mhz but it can be affected by materials and range which can lead to packet loss
2.4ghz has lower mhz due to its only able to output increments of 20 or 40 and sometimes 80mhz
5ghz can output 120 and even 160mhz which is useful for higher bandwidth demanding applications such as 4k local streaming or video uncompressed streaming
@@dvxAznxvb2 things wrong with this:
1. 2.4ghz doesn't support 80mhz
2. 5ghz doesn't support 120mhz
