- Tool Live San Jose, CA 2017. Full Concert.
San Jose, CA. SAP Center. June 21st 2017.
Great audio by wilson66. I almost didn't want to use any video material since there isn't much and some songs aren't filmed or are incomplete, but some of the footage has some good closeups, mixed with infuriating camera shaking.

This was my first Tool show. Been waiting to see them for years but I just wasn't able to go. My dad surprised me with tickets for my 18th birthday. By far the best present I've ever gotten. Absolutely killer show.
Thats a fucking great present. I saw them back in May and im 18 too. Being into Tool at our age makes the world seem so full of possibilities eh
YES! I'm 27 and my first Tool show was 10 years ago. It gives me so much joy to see younger people keeping them alive.
Your dad kicks ass. Happy birthday!
Aces High Yeesh. Looks like somebody didn't have their cheerios this morning.
Aces High Very un-tool-like there, my friend. Love and light.
I like the part where Maynard stands in the dark corner
woah now, easy.
I'd rather slide a mile on it, six inches at a time.
+I Am Everything .. There's a psychiatric term for his(Aces)condition, it's called "Projection"... True Story, look it up!
lol
Will Good I see

SoulEjecta that's funny shit man!
I just try to get rid of it
Me too, with the expectation of knowing in first hand when that fucking album is coming xD
Oh my God you goofed me with your pubic hair pic
Nobody amazed @ the handle? You must have gotten in at ground level when UA-cam was invented to have secured that name!!!
Maynard's voice in this one is absolutely epic, the melody and additions in the verses before the chorus are incredible, adds something really fresh
i really think Maynards voice is getting back in shape
he sounded great in st. paul. however he skipped the pot Than the next day saw review and it said his voice kept going out. He sounded fucking awesome lol.
It's to high for him now sadly, as a vocalist myself it took me a couple months to get my voice into the range of Maynard's when he sung the pot, and at that it wasn't a steady tone either(naturally I am a base but everyones voice can be made to sing higher if you practice), it would take Maynard(because of his age) a very long time to get back up the pot range, now they play it in C minor, so I don't think Maynard is going to try to work on his vocal range anymore.
Nick Kelly even as a bass we can sing higher than a soprano. it took me 4 months to properly get the pitch for the pot. hardest song I have worked on
Wow... it took me about two months to get the rough range, I have started to work on mastering it and making it sound steady. But Maynard is 40 sum years old, and his vocal chords have naturally relaxed and gotten longer and more elastic, the only reason I was able to get the range so fast is because I am 15 and still have a strong young throat. Maynard is older though, for him to go from C minor all the way back up to Drop d would take HIM a very long time, longer than you or I, and I have reason to believe he is more focused on touring and writing the albums he got contracts for(on APC and TOOL) than working his vocal range, if that is his intention, I would disagree, he should be looking up to people like Dennis DeYoung and David Gilmour, who, through decades have kept their vocal range the same the whole time, because they properly work their voices and warm up on regular basis. I do agree that we can sing higher than soprano, but even as someone as young as myself, to strengthen the throat up to that level(because The Pot is pretty much in alto 1, maybe more like alto 2) takes a tremendous amount of exercises even being as young as I am, Maynard would have a lot more trouble than you or I(I'm assuming you are younger than him). But I seriously hope he does choose to work his range, before his new albums, I want quality, not quantity, unlike a lot of Maynard fans, I do want the new albums, but I want them to get it RIGHT.
Maynard is actually 53 now.
I was there. Great show...audio quality is strong. Thanks for posting.
I had never thought that I would hear the best live performances of Parabol, Third Eye, Sweat and Stinkfist in 2017.
And you definitely didn't. And won't.
I was there and man was that a great concert
Jonadab Balderas Damn right
Jonadab Balderas
me imagino que fue un buen concierto
was a good fucking concert Really
scince 16 years i listen Tool
and Still love his music
Me too! My first one as well.
Jonadab Balderas I saw Detroit this time around, almost always Detroit actually..lol. Once i saw them in Toledo \m/ They're all so KILLER
i completly agree i love his vocals on "this body" in parabol or parabola i cant remember.Ah maan that was a hell of a night.
nothing else matters...only Tool...
Rodrigo Rodríguez didn't Metallica play that ¿
Brodie Adams big contrast!
That concert was sick
These concert videos never have quality audio, thanks for being the exception!
Good lord, the audio quality is amazing! It's like a board recording mixed with minimal crowd noise.... Well fucking done! I was in attendance and it was a monster of a show.. Thanks so much for uploading this!
THE POT HAS A MUSIC VIDEO! HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT!
?
Kyler Seaman I think she's talking about the video that's playing behind them when they play the pot. I got confused at first too.
lemonlateralus There's a video for The Pot. It's a cartoon about a farmer
It's not an official video it's just a random shortfilm someone took and played over the music
EUROPE PLEZ?!?!?!? WE'RE FUCKING WAITING!!!
Idun evenknuw they probably won't do an EU tour before the new album is out.
Idun evenknuw hell yeah
Idun evenknuw I'm waiting too....saw them back in 2012 in Dallas TX, 13th time I've seen TooL!! can't wait for #14 in the EU somewhere! !! Best Band Ever! !! TOOL come tour Europe Goddammit! !!!
No you guys need to tell powerwolf and amon amarth to start touring in the u.s more often. Then we'll be ready to discuss whether or not tool can leave the states!
Damm bros. Tool is playing . I must click and cancel my plans and listen. Tool is a lifestyle .
🎅🎁new album if you're on the nice list. Naughty list gets Bieber poster.
Dr. Phil Damn man, nobody could be *that* bad.
Lol
Man this show was so good, Danny's drum solo was epic, stoked I can relive it here. Thanks my dude!
Thank you very much for posting these shows, especially for those of us who haven't seen/can't see Tool live for various reasons.
man this concert was so amazing. I was in row 17. felt like I was basically right at the stage
damn, I can't believe I found out they were playing there THE NIGHT OF the concert. I'm sure it would have been awesome to see them in person
THANK YOU.
Thank YOU ToolArchive for your amazing work
Awesome!!! I've been to that concert, no footage were allowed. So happy to see it again 🤘
This was my favorite concert I’ve ever been too, Tool is one of the best bands of the century
Thanks for upload....sound is excellent .
Dude, stay still goddammit
TOOL it was really hard to film because Tool has a strict no recording policy and the staff was busting everybody they saw recording
Stevo12
I went to the APC concert and the staff were kicking people out for recording. It's pretty hard to get good footage and to get away with it.
The staff wouldn't even let us use our phones during intermission! It was ridiculous!
Mia De Leon - From other videos that I have seen that people have talked about this they say that tool are pretty relaxed about people filming.
Oscar during the last perfect circle concert they kicked out 60+ people for filming.
Amazing visuals!
Seeing this rock legends twice in Melbourne Aus 🤘🏽 fkn hyped!!!
You should make a full concert video of Tool at The Gorge in George, Washington. Greatest concert I've ever been to. Meddle Earth has a full audio track of the whole concert!
Can we all just agree that tool is on a level all their own? Superior to all else...
I was there and honestly forgot the entire show even though it was the best fucking night of my life. Thanks for posting
thank you
Tool Full Concerts are just so nice to listen (Only on youtube, they never came to my country)
great times great memories at this show
Just putting it out there, but they played parabol and parabola, not just parabola
Brendan Boozer wow didn't notice that, thanks for pointing it out!
Aces High When I saw them at aftershock last october, I was sad because they only played parabola, not the two songs together. So sad that you get picking on people in a comment section. good luck
+Brendan Boozer .. Don't antagonize it and exacerbate it's condition Brendan Boozer.. Also, don't look it directly in the eyes and you'll be OK..
Aces High Geez dude.... why so much hate?? 21 pilots aren't coming to your city??? Cry me a river
***** Pilots falling out of the sky.
amazing!!!! real music!!!!
I've been to alot of shows, and this was by far the best one. Im still right here giving blood keeping faith for that new album. Lol Cheers
If you can do the Gorge show that would be awesome man! If not it's totally cool, and appreciate all the work you put in making these videos and uploading em.
Descending and that Opiate interlude though....jeezchryss I'm gonna miss looking forward to anything as much as this album
The audio quality was the highest magnitude of quality I have heard in a long time.
I agree, Maynard sounded amazing at this show! But, as usual, all four of them melded together like a true Tool experience!
I saw them June 17th and man do they put on one hell of a show
Thanks for the video. Surprised you were able to compile one, security was escorting people out because they were recording.
This was my first Tool concert and this was one of the best concert I've ever gone to. Next to Temple Of The Dog
Jeez Danny is a beast!!!
I’ve seen Tool more times than I’ve seen any other band at this point since first being blown the F away when they played the Lolapalooza side stage many years ago in New Jersey. I see them every time they pass through the Bay Area, sometimes twice if they do a cpl nights at Bill Graham.
That said, they never disappoint per se; comparatively some performances have been better and more memorable than others. This San Jose show was the last time I had the pleasure of seeing TOOL and besides the stunning visual experience this ranks among the very best they have ever sounded. Truly inspiring.
that voice!!❤❤😍😍😍
Was outside the whole time having the best time ever. Was at their first welcome back at after shock which was my first tool concert and one here in San Jose (where I live and grew up my whole life) which was awesome everyone was awesome and met some of the best people outside by the tour busses hopefully wanting to wave at the band but I got the new friends! THANK YOU TOOL
"It's all gonna work out, or it's not." That's the way it's always been.
They are sounding exxxxxxxtra tight
I got to see them in Hershey this past May, it was awesome.
on the summer solstice. very cool. maynard is sounding great. the rest of the boys are solid.
Tool Archive this is the fluffiest pancakes, the meltiest butter and Aunt Jemima syrup having taping you have ever done. Much gratitude and love your way my friend.
Was gunna get some sleep but then I stumble across a perfect audio 2hr tool show. Oh well never mind. I really wish these guy would come to London it was 2002 last time I saw them
That was the most perfectly framed stinkfist in youtube history. I'm rarely wowed by lasers at shows anymore, including tools, but wholly moly that was so aesthetically pleasing!!!
Damn I've watched a lot of tools live shows on you tube thus one is so epic my God I love this one need to go to one of these
i was really close to them and it was amazing
Gotta love Opiate man!!!!! Love tool!!!
Choosing to be here!
You deserve more likes man.
tool is a religion in my country,really... blees's from Bolivia to all.
The sound quality.. :O
He is 53 yrs old and can still reach parabola's high ''B''. Damn Maynard...
holy fuck what a performance
can't believe i passed this one up I could have walked over to this one.
Any eta/timeline for when the San Bernardino show will be finished/uploaded?
Nonetheless, thanks a lot, ToolArchive, for all your dedication/hard work!!
its amazing that at 48min, the instrumental track turns out to be today the bad ass song Descending !!! awesome
Maynard's voice is sounding really healthy and practiced. Watch out for the APC tour people.
I first saw TOOL in Oct. of '96 at a small college.
Univ. of Puget Sound. 4 blocks from where I lived.
Maynard was painted entirely blue, wearing boxers with hearts on them.
After that show ? Yeah, I started LISTENING.
Inspiring
Ainda vou num show deles! Maynard ❤
I don't even know what i'm waiting more, they releasing the new album or going on tour to south-fucking-america for once.
aca desde BOLIVIA.... lo mejor
cool !
finally got third eye right after botching it for 20 years
This guy has a really good camera, shame he has Parkinson's disease
😁😂😁
It was Michael J. Fox holding the camera... Apparently he was there to play the tambourine...!
Fuck ikr!!!! every time its a perfect show the idiot with the awesome camera is like George Lucas at 3yrs old.......sad!!!!!
Michele Greenshields or maybe he was trying to enjoy the show a little
Maybe, or a better explanation now that I think about it is; how hard it is to record their shows without other people enjoying it and bumping into you. OR JUST HOW DAMN HARD IT IS NOT TO GET BUSTED BY SECURITY!!! Hints the moving around and better shots later on. Great sound source though, with the right headphones its almost like your there : )
This was my first ever Tool show and I was pumped, had pretty decent seats (5th row in lower bleachers back left corner), but sadly the audio quality was pretty bad. Which is weird because it sounds perfectly fine in this video.
Seen Tool 8 times, the last one was more of a limited tour for fans.. I saw them in the mid 00s in DT chicago in an upscale opera house.. maybe 1200 people?? 3rd row center stage.. paid 750 each, back from Iraq had the splurge on at the time.. totally worth it.. more of a religious experience
Agree.....IT IS A RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!
mid 00s and just 1200 people? dont buy that, man. They played in Wienna 10 years ago and there were at least 30 000 people ;)
daniel dobranic they didn't advertise the tour, it was basically for the hardcore fans at a dozen or so cities, tickets were sold out basically instantly which is why mine and my buddy cost 750 each
J Mo $750.00 ? Jesus Christ , I saw Tool in 1993 for $ 28.00 !!
Thank for your service.
yet again, nothing from Undertow....
Trevor Goodchild they need to play Flood
I can understand being tired of doing "Sober" but c'mon, give us something...besides "Intolerance"
Man Flood was great when they played it the 07 and 09 tours. I think 4 degrees would be awesome to see live and IMO it fits more with their live style now and its one that Maynard prolly wouldn't have much trouble singing.
david mcwilliam dude i couldnt agree more, Flood and Prison Sex are by far my favorite songs. And I do think Paul has everything to do with them not playing anything from Undertow live, he helped write that whole album, not Justin.
Trevor Goodchild I still haven't seen them live. I wanna hear Hush
That is one of my favorite songs by Tool
Hoping when I see them live the perform Third Eye even though I know that's one of their more demanding songs. However, I would be satisfied with whatever they choose as their song lineup
COME TO EUROPE!!!!!!!!!!
I was lucky enough to be there. By far one of the greatest shows I've ever seen!
Opened with The Grudge?!?!! Fuuuuuuucccckkkk
Incredible
CHILE PLEASE!!!
lmao, how did you film this, I got yelled at by ushers for even pulling my phone out of my pocket.
Was that Chocolate Chip Trip at 1:22:13 or at least an early reminiscent of it? It sounds oddly familiar to it.
XOX
holy shit
Descending ( 47:28 ) it's getting better at every time !!
Gotta admit, this was still awesome, but I’ve only seen them live myself twice. Once in 2022 and once in 2023, and I have to say, Maynard has improved on his vocals since this concert at least. Of course this was just one show and maybe his voice was just thrashed from doing a bunch of shows, but both times I’ve seen them recently he seemed to be more spot on. Also, he did the grudge scream both times I saw them. Either way, still epic.
Maynards sounds amazing in Opiate!
Third-Eye sounds great!
Tool archive please find a good copy of the Sacramento 2017 show it was great.
I don't think there's supposed to be such a long pause between 11:10 and 11:25.
It seems to me Maynard got ahead of himself, but maybe that's there and Adam usually does a guitar bit there? Maybe just a new interpretation, but it feels like a pause longer than usual. Love parabol and parabola. One time at a Tool Concert I made out with the love of my life for the full 10 minutes or whatever of both of the songs. I think she planned it because seconds after it started she grabbed my face with both hands and pulled me in!
!Hah! God I had so much fun with her!
Best Opiate ever, Grtz to who was there.
Was there ever a better audio-recording of tool? I can´t think of one thats better....and i know almost all of them.
Well put the CA part :)
Went to the show they did in Sacramento on the same tour. Got blazed off my ass with the girl I loved. Best day of my measly existence.
maynard really holding it together vocal-wise for this performance.
Maynard sings so fucking good in Jambi holy shit
Did anyone else get nervous as shit when he started panning away from the Grudge drum solo? Ok im going to keep watching now. This is good shit.
