Louisiana Boiled Crawfish with fixings in 3.5 minutes
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 сер 2024
- I am going to show you how we boil crawfish in southeast Louisiana including all the fixings (sides) your heart could desire. Let me know if you cook your crawfish differently or the same.
My Boiled Crawfish Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 sack of crawfish (32-35 lbs)
4.5 lb bucket of Cajun Land crab boil Seasoning
8 oz liquid crab boil
bag of onions
bag of lemons
bag of garlic (8-10 heads)
1 bunch of celery
1 small box of mushrooms
4 oranges
bag of small potatoes
2 lb of smoked sausage
1 pack of frozen corn (9-12 pieces)
Steps:
Cut onions, lemons, garlic, and oranges in half
2. Cut sausage and celery into 2" pieces, leave everything else whole
3. Wash crawfish thoroughly to remove mud and dirt.
4. Fill pot 1/3 to 1/2 full and light fire, turn burner on full blast
5. When water is luke warm, add dry seasoning and liquid crab boil and stir to dissolve seasoning.
6. Once dissolved add onions, celery, garlic, potatoes, and squeeze all lemons into the boil water.
7. Bring water up to rolling boil and add crawfish, sausage, and mushrooms
8. Once the water comes back to a rolling boil cut off the propane tank. (usually 15-20 min), squeeze the oranges and stir. Also, add the corn here
9. Add frozen 2-liter, water bottles or ice to the boil to cool the internal temperature to stop the cooking.
10. Let crawfish soak for 25 min and begin tasting. (the longer they soak, the spicier they will be)
11. Pull out the crawfish, pour them on a table and Enjoy.
Enjoy
Best 3.5 minutes I've spent on the internet this week
I'd probably would have took the stickers off the Oranges before I threw them in but yeah it looks good
and the plastic water bottle. I wouldn't neither
Stickers and plastic bottles are good for ya. Good ole eating. I perfer eating those platic bottles whole also
@@mr.november7456 i'm filled with microplastics yum
Stickers are like bonus points
Almost perfect, except those water bottles. Plastic leaches out into everything when the temperature is hot!
Looks delicious.
Not my finest moment, but live and learn
@@damnthatsgood1368 we Cajuns, people have put worse in a boil before haha great video brother!
@@steeletortorich9279 I hear ya, I usually use frozen two liters or spray down the pot I was improvising
I swear its on my bucket list to attend a crawfish boil in Louisiana
Hell yeah
You will never regret it. Cannot wait to go south again!
Did one once in a neighborhood in Spanish Baton Rouge, LA. No words can justify the experience. It’s a bucket list must!
Do it. They can serve up the best food ever. Well, every culture has their best food so this is America and it’s great to explore everyone’s best food.🥘🧆🥗🥙🥩🍗🥖🧅🍠🍑🍉🍎🍌🍊🍋

Nothing can beat Louisiana and Texas crawfish
damn right
1:59 Crawfish 🦞 “im freeeeee!”
I don’t know how this thing with oranges got started, but growing up in south Louisiana oranges never went in a boil...just lemons... lemons, veggies, sausage and seafood.
Its not an overpowering orange flavor, its just an extra refreshing citrus flavor, similar but slightly different to the lemon
Add oj
well if you havent tried it yet, dont knock it out till you try it. Once i started adding oranges to my boil, that extra citrus pow adds another delicious flavor profile to your crawfish.
shoot, i might take up other peoples suggestion and start adding lemon juice and orange juice to my boil to test it out. i think its going to make it even more insanely good~
@@glyphsuritos6588 I’d maybe try it to see how it tasted but in my area if I put oranges in the boil someone is liable to shoot me because it’s odd for a boil
Been putting in oranges as long as I can remember and I'm in my 40s
I like that you turn off the fire as soon as the pot comes to a boil and soak for bout 40min. To many people overcook crawfish which causes a soft almost mushy tail meat(like those grocery stores that keep them steaming in that cooler outside). I like the idea of the boil boss to cool the pot but I like to keep the ground dry. I find that the 8lb bag ice works perfectly in addition to the frozen corn after turning off the burner And it doesn’t dilute the seasoning, because you just use enough to make up for the ice at the beginning. no big deal. Tail meat always firm juicy and spicy.
Hell yeah man, I see some people try to boil for 5 min, and I think that piece of meat is so small and is already cooked in that boiling water, you are only increasing your chance of mush
Not sure if i would add plastic bottles in a boiling pot though
Definitely I will be your fan from now and I cannot wait for your next video coming soon. Thank you!
1:58. bros a lone surviver
I've been dreaming for crawfish LOL this looks so delicious
There is never a bad time to have crawfish
Good stuff, pretty crawfish.
Thanks man
Are hitting on my children
Great Chef
Thanks glad you enjoy
You should remove stickers from the oranges before cooking it bro
I think it's better to add shrimp frozen corn all that stuff after you turn the fire off it helps bring down the temperature for the soak and it doesn't overcook them. Just my thought
Got to have the plastic leaking into the water and make sure you leave the label on so you get the glue and dye also :)
Lol@ fight the crawfish 😂
Thanks super
pretty sure i saw one escape when you poured them in
This is much better than the videos of them just dropping multiple gallons of orange juice and pounds of random spices in
Noticed that you used some type of hook to hold the strainer pot up so that it can drain. What was it you used exactly and where can I find one.
The recipe looks very good, you don't toss in all of the stuff that makes them too "hot" to enjoy!
1:18 Nuclear Lukewarm. :-) That will add a touch to the boil. :-)
Platinum!
Good job 👍🏾
Thanks man
Look so good
Is it bad for the plastic of the bottles to be in there?
Yes it is
I like 👍🏽
Just spent 200 for 35lbs sack, sacks of medium/large and another 100 from walmart on all the fixings. Everything is expensive right now.
Woahhh, where are you located that is extreme. Prices in Louisiana are around $2/lb this late in the season so $70/sack and fixings for me for one sack are around $35-$50
amazing
looks yummy hope you washed the mushrooms/citrus tho!
Always
No need If you have Mud Bugs in there.
why wash either when going into a giant pot of boiling water?
@@devinthomas4866 uh pesticides? mushrooms are grown in shit and dont come washed. why skip a step with the "its fine" mentality thats just lazy it takes like 30 seconds to do it. would you use dirty water to cook pasta then why do it for shellfish
@@smoothiegreenburg6065
Buy organic and no pesticides. So at your next boil you can get a toothbrush and clean all your mushrooms while everyone else enjoys themselves.
I dont boil my crawfish in dirty water, I steam each batch in 2 inches of clean water, this cleans and cooks them. Then we soak in clean soak water.
212* kills all the bad guys.
thumbs up on the cajun land! less salty and more spice
Yeah you right
Louisianas brand is real good as well. I actually mix the two for my own blend👌🏽

What zize pot is that?..I just got an 80qt pot and not sure if it will hold a 30lb sack and all the veggies
This is an 80 qrt you can fill up pot 1/3 instead of the 1/2 I did in the video
@Damn! That’s Good ...thank you
Add 1 cup of vinegar to help with the peel. Good job

Thanks
I want to eat crawfish 🦞
Love the short and sweet video! You should try using the boil boss, it's awesome. What's that piece you use to hold up the boil basket to drain?
I’ve almost pulled the trigger on a boil boss in the past, I usually hose it down or use frozen 2 liters. It’s a basket hook, that I think I got at a seafood market
@@damnthatsgood1368 I agree with statement on the boil boss. It seriously works wonders..made my crawfish and crab legs 5x juicier than before
I’ve heard great things
@@damnthatsgood1368 do you have an Instagram page??
@@mileslapeyre6457 no i do not but i have a facebook page under Dang! That's Good

yeah more liquid crab boil and bottles of hot sauce will get you there
Where do we find a boat? That’s cool. I need one
That one was a gift but I’ve seen mini pirogues at academy and rouses before
You said potatoes take longer to cook than everything else...so shouldn't they have gone in first?
Yes should go in earlier than everything, sometimes stuff gets messed up
100 gallon pot! Wow.
Everything looked good until he added plastic 😂
Where do you get that little piece to hold up and strain the crawfish @2:55?
I think it was from a seafood market in Louisiana
When can I come over.
Yummy
Did you let the one mud bug go that didn't go in free? Or did he get put back in?
sadly he got put back in RIP
@@damnthatsgood1368 🙏
@@damnthatsgood1368 lol
Where did you get that bucket
I think it was Amazon under rope handle bucket
I swear at 2:46 seconds I saw orange skin had a price tag sticky still on it.
🙂
Thanks for sharing. Where do you get the Budlight crawfish boat?
Think there is a scaled down version for a family of four that just wants crawfish for dinner?
Generally people eat 5lb/person for big eaters and 3 for kids and less eaters...you could do 15lb in a turkey frying pot on the stove with half the ingredients
Beware that unless you have a vent over your stove it will be crazy!
Soooooo I wanted to do this for my bday and its 6 people eating about how many pounds should I buy? Is one sack enough they said it's a 35lb sack
@@divine9520 That should be enough. my family usually does 5 or 6 pounds-ish per person.
I can't get past the step where you fight the crawfish.... He's too strong 🤕
is secret is to leave the label with the oranges brand, giving it a completely different taste 🤣🤣🤣
30 to 40 minutes never heard that long before
So you dont boil for 5 minutes once it comes to a boil you shut it off after it starts to boil?
yup, in the long run it isnt needed. the meat cooks so quickly and just increases the chance of mushy crawfish
@@damnthatsgood1368 thanks, appreciate it!
Whole plastic in hot water... are you kidding.. Bad boil man... Spoilt a good boil... 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Nice and plasticky
no need for melted plastic in the stew, just put in ice
those chemicals in the plastic bottled water lmao
80-100 Gallon Pot???
couldn't peel off the stickers on the oranges.......
So no salt when you purge??
No salt needed just water
100 gallon pot? Damn that’s a lotta bugs.
Main, you don’t add any extra salt? I don’t find any of the “all in one” seasonings to have enough...
I found that Louisiana and Cajun land both have enough salt for me and yeah I had some word vomit with that 100 gallons haha *100 qrt*
I wanna eat crawfish 🦞
There is a sticker on the orange. ㅡ.ㅡ
And crawfish live deep down in mud, what’s your point? The oranges practically dissolve so it doesn’t matter
@@damnthatsgood1368 It's just that I think...Isn't it common to remove the sticker on the orange and put it in the food?
Stickers on fruit are food grade...atleast that what they say
Where's the seasoning?
I go lazy. Garlic powder,. Onion powder, , celery seed, quart lemon juice.
Connecticut version I assume...
I think he ment to say 80 to 100 quart pot!
You boiled some plastic and you expect me to eat that? No thank you...I’m not sure if you’re aware of the harsh chemicals released from those plastic bottles after a certain temperature is reached.
Man this looks good but I'd rather king crab legs and Maryland blue crabs and hold the shrooms 😜
We cook blue crabs down here in almost this exact same way and they are great. Yeah it’s hard to beat king crab.
Then that would be a crab boil and not a Crawfish boil and you would probably be in Delaware...
Where can I find that basket hook you used?
I think it was from a seafood market in Louisiana.
Academy has them.. maybe Walmart.
Thanks!

50$ two years ago 200$ now with those bugs.
plastic adds a lot of flavor to the crawfish idk why people are saying its bad
Bro same take of the sticker and the water bottle
What about the pepper 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
This video makes me sad. Can’t get good crawfish up in the Great Lakes area. 😭
They can be shipped from Louisiana for a decent sized fee
Louisiana Crawfish Company, ship all around the country.
Have seasonings, tools, etc.
Ship overnight in big cooler, use them all the time in Texas
Try next time to get a " boil boss " maaan does it work 👍🦞🤘
I have thought about pulling the trigger on that
Corn and frozen bottles work the exact same without all the extra cooyon toys.
@@timr0by I guarantee that they don't work as good as a boil boss. I've tried it both ways
@@kaniving yeah I'm sure every Cajun from the past until 2018 was just doing it wrong this whole time. Come on now. You got suckered in to a neat cooyan toy. They're neat, but completely unnecessary. If you get a different result after using it, then you just ain't doing it right the first time. 🤷🏼♂️
@@timr0by never said that Cajuns were doing it wrong! I'm just saying that the boil boss works amd does better than frozen bottles. It's not "life or death" to have but it absolutely does its job.
What would Gordon Ramzy say about this

Frozen water bottles LUL

You don't purge the crawfish first? Thats gross dude
Purging with water yes, purging with salt does nothing and actually kills the crawfish. Water will wash out all the gunk
