Thank for the review! This was just what I was looking for.
Thank you, Ed for this review. Totally agree with you that it works well with a small object. I use it with a speed light and a 22" softbox or a 16“ beauty dish. The boom arm extends just a little over half way. The sandbox bag has 4 bottled water just like you demonstrated or a dumbbell in a bag. So far it is steady and I haven't had any issues. It is much lighter and easier to carry around than a C-stand. Thanks again.
I agree - light use only.
Good for a mic or maybe a second camera.
To be useful boom arms are heavy duty C-Stands with heavy counterweights.
And because of all this extra weight - these stands are so much better on casters.
Good job. Awesome! Thank you.😃😃👍
Thanks so much!
Can the sandbagb hold water with out LEAKING i was just LOOKING at it on B&H wow 3:41 my question answered water bottles
Would a godox c stand be better than this to mount camera and flash?
has anyone here used the equivalent wescott product? roughly same price, and specs. curious if one is any better than the other?
I've ruined a normal lightstand with a boom. The top riser can't handle the torque created by a boom, and quickly elongates around the 5/8 stud. C-stand all the way.
Hey Ed. If I mount this on a C Stand, do you think I can use it with a Forza 300 light (with a lantern on it)? And how much counter weight would it need?
I would use something more heavy duty for that. I mean, it’s a sturdy item, but not my choice for that kind of weight.
@@edverosky Thanks. Fun fact: ordered it and it just arrived 😞.. going to try it. Don’t need it for travel, just home stuff - they’ve been sold out of better boom arms everywhere. Hopefully I can make it work with a shorter reach?
Give it a try. Let me know how it goes. But yeah. Definitely a strong support stand (c-stand) would be better than the one I’m showing in the video
@@edverosky Ok cool. Seems to work well, although the screw to attach the boom to the c-stand seems stripped. Did you have that issue or use your own screw to tighten it to your stand?
@@edverosky PS Thanks again for all the help.
Really nice video!. I would only recommend for the next time to give the measurements in meters also so the rest of the world knows what are you talking about. This is an issue with American UA-camrs, they think the market is only America or something. hehehe . Thank you very much again for this video.
You are right about the measurements. I’ve been improving on that over time.
Water bottles, thanks !
Is the ratchet arm all metal including internals? The manfrotto is plastic and breaks. :/
The manfrotto is plastic?!!!
@@Strravaganza Depending on which model you buy. Manfrotto also makes an all metal version, which I eventually found. It works perfect.
@@christhompsonphotography6783 The cheapest models may be plastic, but all devices like the one shown in this video are always metal. Manfrotto 123 Super Boom Pivot Clamp all metal.
👍🤗🇨🇭
