I use a simple tether (scrap parachute cord) to capture the light head to the stand just in case I do something silly. Especially for those high and out positions.

Does the baby pin at the tip of the boom arm has a flat side, too -as the baby pin of the C-stand? I checked out the product images on your website. It doesn't show that important detail -if it does. Some people don't pay attention, but it is a big deal and you notice the difference when using heavy light modifiers. I am so glad that you pay attention to that type of details. I can sell my Manfrotto Avenger boom arm and by a Strobpro.

If you remove the knob, can you mount the boom arm on a combo stand?

How much weight or so was in that sandbag? Also when it says 22 pounds (I just bought one) do you mean sand bag AND lamp weight or lamp can be 22 pounds and say that means it needs 40 pounds counter weight or so? Just curious now so I know

      Hi Will,
Great question and it's perhaps something we can make more clear. 22 lbs is meant to be the maximum load bearing per side with the fulcrum in the centre (so up to 22 lbs of payload with 22 lbs of counterweight). The safe ratio changes depending on the position of the fulcrum. A lighter payload can be positioned further out on the boom, and a greater amount of counterweight can be placed on the opposite side to compensate for the leverage. These weights are approximations, and safe boom use is always at the discretion of the operator. If you see bending, then there's too much weight! This one is all-steel and can handle quite a lot though.
