Great lecture thank you very much for the tips. I am on the verge of buying an Impact Combo Boom Stand and although people say it can hold a decent weight, I want to practice safe use since it extends high and far and is made of aluminum (since I wanted a lightweight structure).
For a boom, you do NOT want a lightweight one. The impact boom, I use it everyday in my studio. And I abuse of it too, but always SAFELY. Get this boom. You won’t regret.

Dammit! I have been doing it all wrong! I usually fly my lights with the softbox attached for interviews. I never tried to achieve the balance you have. I set my light and fly it then add the sandbags. I even used to raise it up with the sandbags attached (using old man strength of course..lol). My axis is usually higher up but I still use the angle to geet even higher if I need to. I have the pitiful avenger booms that cant hold its angle...the biscuits don't have any teeth. Good tips!

@@ArtVideoProductions I thought that was pretty impressive that it holds 23 pounds and comes with its own heavy duty stand and 2 empty sandbags BUT you really help out with using iron weights idea. I was thinking getting (4) 5lbs and (4) 2lbs should cover me ?????? What your thoughts on the weights ?
@@ROBERTPOKONSKI that really depends on the load. It’s a wild guess every time. And it it’s a really heavy load, it’s also puts a lot of stress too. Speaking of which, I think the Jinbei stand is an optional purchase, not included... if it is, that’s great tho. You might want to double check on that.
