👉 What's better than a great snare drum sound at the recording studio?
Exactly: NINE great snare drum sounds at the recording studio 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🎤 🎧👌
This video shows 9 beautiful snare drums I use for recording at my studio. You could obviously get even more sounds out of them with different tunings etc, but my idea was to apply a specific sound that I like to every snare and keep it that way, so that I can easily & quickly swap out snare sounds in different recording situations and for different musical genres.
Thanks to Thomas a.d.Berge / Uffi for the great tuning job at the studio once again!
👂 Please be sure to use good headphones / monitors for listening 🎧

They all sound nice and have their place. My favorite is the tama slp g studio maple.
Fantastic drummer. Great snare demo, they all sound great. thx
Thank you so much! :)
A great variety here. Each one with different strengths and characteristics.
My personal favourite is the Ludwig.
And what sensational and inspiring playing, as always from Ralf.
Thank you so much! :)
Love them all! Great sounding snares! Well tuned also
Thanks Pedro!
Sonor Vintage for me.
Germans, huh.
Seems you guys are good at everything 😁.
;-D
EXCELLENCE!!! TAMA JB STEELE for me was the winner ⭐.... (I'm subscribed) Regards!!!
Thanks! :)
All sound stellar in both hi and low tuning....faves were the Sakae, DW, Gretsch & of course the Sonor Vintage with least favorite sadly being the Ludwig....although I'd give almost anything to still have my Blue Vistalite kit bought in the mid seventies...🤣....nice review Ralf...👍
Thank you! :)
My favorite overall was the Tama S.L.P. G-Maple. But that Sonor Vintage Series with cloth muffling blew my mind ❗
Ludvig the best
Awesome! Man, did you EQ or anything during the tests? It was an warm audio, API preamps straight to an interface? Wich one? Could you detail more about it? I'm asking because the drums sounds amazing!
Hey Andre, thank you glad you liked it! I am using these preamps for recording currently:
A-Designs Pacifica (2x OHs space pair)
API 3124V SD top / SD bot / BD in (dual capsule mic)
WA-412 toms & Kick out
WA-12 (2x Room Stereo)
All preamps go through a Presonus Quantum 4848 converter into the Macbook Pro into Logic Pro X.
For this video, I've applied some very basic correctional eq/mixing, that you would usually apply to pretty much every snare (like cutting some honky mids & boosting a little low/top).
But it's far from a "full mix" that you would do for a song. Mics/mic placement & room acoustics also play a huge role for the drum sound, kind regards!
Hi Ralf.... can you run down the sizes of your cymbal assortment in this video? I'm very interested in adding Ageans to my collection. Thanks for another great demo!
I'll be doing a series of new cymbals demo videos for Agean very soon, including the Beast Series from this video (they are great). Those will include detailed info for all cymbal models featured in the videos :) kind regards!
You are missing the Ludwig Acrolite! I'm gonna have to unsubscribe now... It's over between us, Ralph!
:-O if I only owned one....!
@@digitaldrumming They're pretty cheap... The ludwig Standard is even a cheaper version of 70's aluminium snares but they may be expensive in Germany.
Regardless all of these snare drums sounded phenomenal and I recognize a lot of them from the TD 17 samples. Love all the Sonar stuff and that Pancake snare drum.
The Tama SLP at 1:40 sounds like a Chris Dave tom tom! 😏
