Thank you for the video. I see it's about 3 years old, hopefully you are still getting the comments. I am just getting started with CBG's, and have not decided yet if I will build one or not. If I do get into that side of CBG's, this would be a very interesting idea, as I started playing guitar on a Les Paul copy about 40 years ago. I've always preferred the solid body, and the body being the same thickness all around, as the Les Paul is.
Hi Marc, yes you can never have enough comments. There is a great deal of satisfaction when building your own guitar, I really enjoyed my solid body L/P guitar, but beware, if you are new to this then using a cigar box for the body will really help and fast track your build, bear in mind that getting the neck right is probably more important than the body. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.
Thanks for the kind comment. Don't know if you're interested but I've just finished making a guitar from a *cardboard* Christmas card box, it's a 6 part series, here's the first one: ua-cam.com/video/WBiko_bnZEk/v-deo.html
I really don't think it would affect the play-ability or sound too much, as long as the neck was attached firmly. But the visual symmetry might look odd with a full body and a smaller width neck.
Very nice. Beautiful build. I am in the process of laying out and planning the exact same for my next CBG. Curious as to how you attached the headstock to the 1X2 neckstock since there is no scarf joint used for this straight style neck. Being that the shaped headstock is wider than the 1X2, necessitating attachment of a wider piece. Or did you carve the neck from one larger piece? Thanks for any feedback on that part. Love your Channel. Cheers.
At 5:20 I bought those copper dowel markers in Spain, I must admit I'd never seen them before, but I'm sure they must be everywhere because Spanish DIY stores are not renowned for being up to date in the world of DIY. If you can't find them but have access to a lathe, you could fashion some stock steel bar to a point, you could have various diameters for different projects. Good luck.
I think the stain would've looked nice if you knew how to work it. Big D Guitars has a bunch of videos showing how to properly stain a guitar; it involves sanding back the stain and re-staining repeatedly, sometimes with different colors, to get the desired look, and is a rather finicky finishing method to work with. I think another model like this would be awesome with a rustic Tobacco Burst finish! Cheers! \m/
Patience, patience, patience, That was my biggest problem, drying/curing takes time, I was in too much of a hurry. but will certainly check out Big D, as I have another project in the pipe line.
Excellent, think you got the shape/size absolutely bang on! Are those the chinese pick-ups all over ebay? I've been debating a very similar sized instrument, although I was thinking semi-acoustic straight through neck hard tail, you've got me wondering if all the extra work is actually worth it when your solid body works so well!
Originally I was thinking of routing out the body before assembly, but plumbed for the easier solid body as a start, and maybe go for the semi hollow body at my next attempt at this type of guitar. Alas the Chinese have cornered the market in (hard to beat value for money) pick-ups. So far, and I've used plenty, Iv'e had no problems with them.
I bought some stain from Crimson Guitars. then used a rattle can finish. It was an acylic varnish protector, (Xylazel, verniz protector, acrilico) I made the mistake of not leaving enough time between flatten down and respraying. I need a lot more patience.
Hi, yes I do sell my guitars, this one was the first solid body I made and it's gathering dust in my music room, if you're interested in this one, which I will let go at less than half the value of a new one, then drop me a line here, *cb-guitars-enquiries(at)mail.com.*
Has anyone else made a solid body guitar? *Please consider subscribing if you found this video useful.*
I did a 3 string “firebird” a couple of years ago. I used almost exactly the same method. Still my favourite guitar of all the ones I’ve built.
Thank you for the video. I see it's about 3 years old, hopefully you are still getting the comments.

Excellent Sir! I have professionally played Les Pauls for a long time. Your 3 string build is quite impressive. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind comment. The video on your channel, (Toledo Bob) really enjoyed it, is that by any chance you.
nice job...Thru strings are key. Put a bridge pickup in that bad boy and you'll have a beast
I've got a couple of set of humbucker pickups to use in future projects.
Love the content and especially the opening titles❣️🎸🎼
Thanks for the nice comments. Glad you like it.
From one builder to another.....A 1 job my brother, first rate work!

Great sound 👍homemade guitar cigar box 🎶
Thank you. Apart from the the two laminate strips in the neck, everything was made from pine.
looks great and sounds great! Well done master!
Thank you for the kind words Uli and the subscribe. Danke für die netten Worte Uli und das Abo.
What a beautiful guitar ! 👌🏻
Very kind of you to say so, plays really well. I'll rephrase that, it would play really well in the hands of a decent player.
Great Job👍👍
Thanks for the positive comment. 👍
What if....you used the standard body of a 6 string with the made neck of the 3 string, would it effect the sound or play of the instrument???
I really don't think it would affect the play-ability or sound too much, as long as the neck was attached firmly. But the visual symmetry might look odd with a full body and a smaller width neck.

Actually, after further research, I am going to go with wings. That will work just great.
Really great cbg build. What are those dowel pin locating things calledand where did you get them?

@@CBGuitars tks for info on pick-ups, as you say hard to beat for the price, seen/heard some lovely custom jobbies but a whole nother level on price!
I want a full size 3 string acoustic
How did you get that finish?
I bought some stain from Crimson Guitars. then used a rattle can finish. It was an acylic varnish protector, (Xylazel, verniz protector, acrilico) I made the mistake of not leaving enough time between flatten down and respraying. I need a lot more patience.
Now please do mayhem's freezing moon and deathcrush on it
Do you sell these?
