Check out the Lightroom Presets I used to edit the photos in this video :) Here: www.digitalfilmactions.com/lightroom-presets/#/disposable-film-lightroom-preset/ 💛
I love how your voice overs aren’t a constant stream throughout the whole video ( if that makes sense lol) your videos are so nice and relaxing to watch ☺️💕
I think that's one thing that makes her videos so enjoyable, she kinda found that perfect pace for voice overs, when or when not to put them in the video
Your model looks like an absolute angel! She is so beautiful without makeup. It only shows that with skills like yours you don’t need a team of people to make your shots amazing! Oh and I struggle with the viewfinder focus switching the screen off on my small Sony too, it can be so frustrating 😂😅
I checked out the photos on your blog Julia, they are absolutely gorgeous right out of a fashion magazine or a fragrance ad. The model is an absolute beauty. These are my favorite photos so far out of so many good ones. Great job 👍🏻
IDK I'm shooting with the Canon 1DX mark ii and that 35mm 1.4 ii and it's out of this world. Light years ahead of my Canon 5D mark iii for focus. Out of 700 shots I might miss focus on 5. Would be killer if Canon had eye focus
I think it’s a dream set up as well! Just in response to the 1DX ii, the Sony barely missed focus as well - I had to majorly mess up for it to miss focus haha
This location is incredible, it looks like a dream! And I loved all the pics, especially the one with Kaitlynn sitting on the floor with the backlight of the sun! Cheers Julia :)
i have no words how pretty the pictures are, location (oh my god, how did you find such beautiful location and lighting ahhh i am going crazy) eagerly waiting for the full review and specially autofocus tips tricks.
Zed Pro Media true story!! Once again Julia, you prove your skills with subtilty _ location, nice light, and the model looks very in tune to what you seemed to be after, in the shoot. Then...comes the rest of the skills..and gear..and all that jazz. PS: and...as usual..you leave the model at ease..and direct her in a very confident but smooth manner. All in all a good shoot with solid pictures..and even a couple of really great ones. ;)
Julia little tip for the lcd turning off when your hand goes across the viewfinder. If you take the LCD out little bit, it automatically switches off the viewfinder sensor. I know that can be still little annoying, but the function is there. You can still lay it flat, but just have LCD lift off from the body. Hope that helps, if you already knew well now some other people now know too lol
now i can really say welcome to the sony family julia! honestly this might be camera of the year, been having a lot of fun with it paired with my zeiss batis 85mm
Very lovely as always Julia. I know you have only just bought the Canon 35mm 1.4 Mk ii, but I would be interested (say if you were to borrow one) on your opinion of the Sony 35mm 1.4 on the A7iii compared with the adapted Canon.
Good to see you finally switched! ive had the a7iii since release and only shoot canon lenses on it with the sigma mc11! i moved away from my canon 5d3 2 yrs ago and immediately noticed how much sharper my images are!
I'm not going to scroll through all of the comments, but you can do one of two things, you can map a button to toggle on/off the viewfinder or you can just turn it off in the menu since you're primarily an LCD shooter at this point. Excellent video!
Funny that people were always bragging about the "canon colors" when these tones are just ridiculously beautiful! Sony really did an amazing job with their new color-science in the a7III series!
Waldo Wolf couldn’t agree more! Both colour sciences are great imo 😄

Actually, the best camera for color reproduction in my opinion is Canon 5D (the first one) and I am Sony shooter since the first A7... (but I love Sony colors :D )
Dom V. Absolutely agree! I‘m also shooting Sony since the first gen. and loved it since the beginning! I think both have great colors but maybe sony‘s sometimes need a little more tweaking! Nevertheless superb colors coming out of today‘s models!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful photoshoot. Absolutely enjoyed it and Kaitlynn is gorgeous. Would love to see you doing a similar shoot with the Sony FE 85mm f/1.8
hi Julia! Lucky you for shotting already with the new sony camera. How did you find the color grading on this camera? specially on skin tones. And finally, how did the AF work? thanks
The entry price for the Distagon is high but if you know you want the F/L and aperture it's worth it easy. If mine broke I'd replace it without a thought!
That's such a cool location! Also, I would like to just take a moment to say "Thank you" for actually including your interaction with the model in your BtS videos. As someone that is very new to portrait photography, that kind of stuff is both very interesting and very useful to me :D
I love your style of working. So natural and relaxed, the best way to get amazing shots. Now that you’ve experienced the light and amazing Sony a 7iii, you need to try the Sigma 85mm f1.4 on it. You’ll never want canon again. It’s mind blowing stunning.
The new canon 85mmf1.4 is better than the sigma and the canon 35mmf1.4 ii is the best 35mm out there. If you seen her videos she prefers the 35mm over any focal length. And from what the reviews say the canonR is sharper than a7 and the the new 50mmf1.2 is the sharpest AF lens to date
Julia - Love your videos, but have a question for you. How come you crop the photos on the models limbs? I thought this was a big no no for composition? I only ask because I always struggle with composition and am always looking to improve.
I’m very late to the party so you may not be monitoring this video any longer. Love your shots and the way you handled the shoot. My question is, have you changed the way you focus now. For portraits of any type I pretty much use continuous auto focus, face detect and eye detect on, with it initiated by the shutter bottom. Then I’ll press my custom bottoms for various overrides. Your thoughts?
Julia I'm so proud of you picking up the 7iii. I'm watching the way you hold your camera and lense, when you pickup a Sony gmaster lense, you can set the little focus hold button to the eye AF and I'm listening to your camera and your in afS try that in AFC. Way better.
hey, dont know if you found this out yet on your own but if you pull the LCD out slightly it stops turning off when you get close to the sensor on the viewfinderZ ^~^
Thanks for this video, Julia! It would be great to make a video about your camera settings and how you set up your custom buttons for portrait photography. ❤️
Absolutely brilliant video. It is truly the best hybrid camera. It blows my mind that your able to adapt your favorite lens to the A7iii and it works better then the native camera. I have the A7riii and I could not be happier. But you are such an amazing photographer and your camera is your tool, u make it look effortless. P.S. I see your having trouble with the switching of the live view and evf. When this happens I noticed your left thumb is close to the C3 button, you can map the switching of the two views to C3. First change Finder/Monitor to Monitor (Manual) then custom set the C3 to Finder/Monitor Sel. found on page 17/23 in your custom key setting. Thanks love love what You do.
One of the best models you worked with. Framing and processing are very good. The detail and sharpness is wonderful, but I still prefer the colours and bokeh of you 35mm mk1 and the Canon colour science of the 5d series.
Check out the Lightroom Presets I used to edit the photos in this video :)

Hi. Where can I get this song please? 6:37
THANK YOU for putting out such great content. We need more photographers like you on UA-cam!
Michael Sasser thank you so much! I really appreciate it 😊

Jade Savage Thank you! 💛
Your model looks like an absolute angel! She is so beautiful without makeup. It only shows that with skills like yours you don’t need a team of people to make your shots amazing!
Oh and I struggle with the viewfinder focus switching the screen off on my small Sony too, it can be so frustrating 😂😅
There's a setting in the menus to turn off the auto-switching of the viewfinder(s) where you can set it to manual if you rarely use the eyepiece. :)
If you change the camera's priority from "release"/"balanced" to "focus", the focus accuracy would be even better significantly.
thats right
I love how Kristina is present in almost all the videos!
Oh snap Julia got the A7III! It's go time! Bye Bye Canon!
Just posted all the photos in a new blog post if you want to take a closer look: blog.juliatrotti.com/pictures/sony-a7iii-natural-light-portraits 💛
Julia, love the hard work and can’t wait to see the A7iii review :) Thanks for the photos!
I checked out the photos on your blog Julia, they are absolutely gorgeous right out of a fashion magazine or a fragrance ad. The model is an absolute beauty. These are my favorite photos so far out of so many good ones. Great job 👍🏻
Julia Trotti Julia and now, Canon body or Sony body.? Pros? Cons?
Thanks
Oh my gosh! The RAWs look so nice! Sony A7III + Canon 35mm 1.4 mkII is probably THE dream setup! :D
IDK I'm shooting with the Canon 1DX mark ii and that 35mm 1.4 ii and it's out of this world. Light years ahead of my Canon 5D mark iii for focus. Out of 700 shots I might miss focus on 5. Would be killer if Canon had eye focus

Thumbs up to that model. Her movement is amazing!!!!
Eye AF is defo my fav feature of the sony cameras
This location is incredible, it looks like a dream! And I loved all the pics, especially the one with Kaitlynn sitting on the floor with the backlight of the sun! Cheers Julia :)
Lol I see you everywhere now!
Leo Young gotta support the fellow photographer fam in the community! (:
yessss!
a no makeup shoot is the best :)
yes I love the natural look.
no makeup? sarcasm or what?
Hmm... no makeup. Have another doobie.
You will never go wrong with a Sony!!
i have no words how pretty the pictures are, location (oh my god, how did you find such beautiful location and lighting ahhh i am going crazy) eagerly waiting for the full review and specially autofocus tips tricks.
That location is so dope!

I love model movement. It's like a dance between the photographer and the model and the shutter is the beat. A nice tango of sorts
Seriously your photography inspires me so much! You're amazing!!
Wow Julia, you just knocked it out of the park. Location, camera, model and photographer, dope. Music was beautiful.
Kaitlynn is a very talented model. You can tell she enjoyed doing it. Very nice video as always learned a lot.
Watching this feels like im on a photography training 👌🏻📷📸😍
Stunningly beautiful model and the photography ain’t bad either!
Welcome to the sony world!!! Ive been a long time nikon shooter and cant be more happier with the switch! Love ur vids and content
which Nikon bodies were you using previously?
Paddington always delivers!!! 😍😍 Great Job
The model is so pretty I'm cryin
Wtf a random Kristina cameo lmao this model was soooo good and the edit tones sooo soft! Amazing as always Julia and welcome to the Sony family! Lol

Mind blowing location. Model also so cute photographer working style fabulous totely super dear
the location is so beauriful !! wow
Gorgeous model, photographer, location and camera setup. I can't wait for the full review 😊
Gorgeous photos! Love natural light photoshoots. No doubt it's a great camera
Awesome video and a stunning model. Good work. Love it.
I have the A7II and LOVE it! I also have the little A6300 and it's pretty amazing as well....
Beautiful shots! Stunning model. Great job.
Welcome to the sony family ☺

Your work is amazing, I just subscribed, You should share your work in the Reddit, sonyphotography community, Would love to see more of your work.
please do more photoshoots and review/trips and tricks about a7iii :) thank you love your videos so much, they are really useful!
Good to see you finally switched! ive had the a7iii since release and only shoot canon lenses on it with the sigma mc11! i moved away from my canon 5d3 2 yrs ago and immediately noticed how much sharper my images are!
Loved this photoshoot Julia!!! Great job!
Your models are always out of this world. Another great video and photos. Please do a composition video.

Would love to see you doing a similar shoot with the Sony FE 85mm f/1.8
Yayy! Paddington Reservoir gardens.
A model who knows what they are doing makes a shoot so much easier!
beast camera for sure
If you leave the screen slightly tilted, the viewfinder wont turn off the LCD. The camera will know you're using the LCD, not the viewfinder
Yes. Even just 1mm . As long as the LCD is not all the way in the slot, the viewfinder approximation sensor wont turn on.
I was mindblown with how well the model was posing and moving around, then I remembered she is a professional. Still insane.
that model tho, so cute!!
What 📷 did you use while filming? Photography and Filming both are amazing.. I loved that.. ❤️
Thank you Julia for the informative BTS, Just I would like to ask you, how did you find the LCD and EVF's quality? Thank you and good luck!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! I mainly shoot with an 85mm on full frame...would love to see a video on that focal length!
it's weird that when you are taking photos i'm looking around the background thinking what other places i would take pictures too
Regina Loppacher I thought about it too, as "leading arches, next to a pond with reflection" etc.
Next lens to test 24, 85 and 135mm! Love the video. Amazing work.
hi Julia! Lucky you for shotting already with the new sony camera. How did you find the color grading on this camera? specially on skin tones. And finally, how did the AF work?
thanks
As usual, your work is STELLAR. You're my favorite photographer! If you're ever in the USA, I'd Love to be a student at a workshop!
Lovely, sold me on the 35mm focal length. Thinking of the distagon native 35 for a7 iii. Do you know if continuous AF works with your adapted setup?
It does! 👍🏻
The entry price for the Distagon is high but if you know you want the F/L and aperture it's worth it easy. If mine broke I'd replace it without a thought!
70-200 pliss!! thank you so much.. what a nice video!! beautiful results
getting my a7iii next week because of u ;)
Beautiful model, looks very young.
highly impressed by your shoot, you, and the model ....
That's such a cool location! Also, I would like to just take a moment to say "Thank you" for actually including your interaction with the model in your BtS videos. As someone that is very new to portrait photography, that kind of stuff is both very interesting and very useful to me :D
Dylan Perkins Thank you so much!
Wow that model is really skilled with poses!! So nice to have an experienced model. Nice shots. :)
I love your style of working. So natural and relaxed, the best way to get amazing shots. Now that you’ve experienced the light and amazing Sony a 7iii, you need to try the Sigma 85mm f1.4 on it. You’ll never want canon again. It’s mind blowing stunning.

Nice pre scout on this one quality scenery!
Julia - Love your videos, but have a question for you. How come you crop the photos on the models limbs? I thought this was a big no no for composition? I only ask because I always struggle with composition and am always looking to improve.
I'm curious to see your results with the native zeiss 35mm 1.4 distagon!
This was very entertaining! For me the highlight was, how "snappy the adapted lens" were. The rapport with your model was also cool!
Btw, move the screen out a bit so that the camera knows you’re using the screen and not activating the view finder
Wow you work incredibly well with models. Awesome video keep it up #roadto100k
These photos look amazing, as well as the location!
I want to see you do a comparison video of the canon 24-70 and the Sony 24-70 g-master
me too!
Me too!!!! :P
Amazing model, awesome
Julia I'm so proud of you picking up the 7iii. I'm watching the way you hold your camera and lense, when you pickup a Sony gmaster lense, you can set the little focus hold button to the eye AF and I'm listening to your camera and your in afS try that in AFC. Way better.
Hopefully you'll have a chance to try A7R3 as well. The viewfinder on that is much better. And the image quality is just awesome
Crazy sharp
hey, dont know if you found this out yet on your own but if you pull the LCD out slightly it stops turning off when you get close to the sensor on the viewfinderZ ^~^
I would go crazy in that location with my 85mm 1.2 lens!
Great video! How did you activate the touchscreen option?
Thanks
Thanks for this video, Julia! It would be great to make a video about your camera settings and how you set up your custom buttons for portrait photography. ❤️
Pretty beautiful views! Can I ask what model this camera and lens to film video ?
Great photos! When shooting, what is your go to picture profile/creative style settings?
Jake Soriano I always use standard!
Good to know! Thank you!
Great Julia, I've followed your content for a while and looking to switch from Nikon to Sony Full Frame.. This has helped alot
Absolutely brilliant video. It is truly the best hybrid camera. It blows my mind that your able to adapt your favorite lens to the A7iii and it works better then the native camera. thanks for the review julia...Id love to see more videos with you and dan :)
beautiful photos!
Great photos, waiting for the A7III review
Just earned a new subscriber. Great photos and video.
Eye-AF is a game changer for shooting portraits for me! Please shoot with Sony's legendary "budget Batis" FE 85mm f1.8 for a future video!!!
Amazing video, love your voice over comments. thank for sharing. cheers.
One of the best models you worked with. Framing and processing are very good. The detail and sharpness is wonderful, but I still prefer the colours and bokeh of you 35mm mk1 and the Canon colour science of the 5d series.
