To be fair those subs added to that shitty 144p exploitation basement tape quality that classic cinema snob had. It looked like something you found in an old vhs in a post-soviet sewer.
I don't know..it depends on a person and how much - especially bad - has happened in the past ten years. To me it feels like it was twice as much. Hell, this fucking year alone feels like it has lasted 10 years already, precisely because it was "eventful" in the worst possible way!
*sigh* sure dose man. But I get what the guy above my reply means too. Sort of feels like it slows way down (in some ways) after you're ~mid 20's (34 myself, God now I'm thinking how I'll be in my mid 30's end of June). Probably something to do with work, bills etc lol.
Shout outs to Grandpa Seth, the one actor who actually managed a decent performance despite being the most ridiculous character in the film. May he continue his magic asspulls wherever he is now.
He was far better than the movie deserved and even made the kid less of a kenny.. that one line from the dad though about pissing on hospitality tho haha. I think the silliest part of the movie is how grandpa tries to talk to the parents first and they actively choose to ignore him!
He wasn't a bad actor, he had a Burl Ives quality about him. But the best actor in the movie is the shopkeeper. If only because he was tripping balls on acid, and just happened to wander on set from a mental hospital day pass trip.
I loved Troll as a kid, watched it dozens of times, the creature song is so haunting and beautiful IMO and the story was wondrous. Never saw the "sequels" and didn't know they existed until I was an adult. Kinda wish I had seen Troll 2 as a kid, because it is so bad and hilarious, I probably would have loved it too but for different reasons. Even today I can watch Troll and truly enjoy the movie for what it is unironically as a good and entertaining movie.
Seeing that scene where all the little creatures are singing in the original Troll is one of the most surreal moments of my entire life. At least it stars Michael Moriarty and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss so I can be reminded of the GOOD stuff they've been in.
Fun fact: the creators of Troll 1 actually wanted to make their own Troll 2 entitled “Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter Jr”, but it got scrapped due to legal troubles regarding the use of the Harry Potter name
@aaronsdavis I don't know about all that. Can it just be a coinsidence that the name Harry Potter was used.... J.K ROWLING could have just used a different name.
Damn! I thought it was embarrassing that my Mother and Sister, drove me and picked me up for a date! I was in grade 7. The movie, Cocktail. I would have "died" if my family sat behind me on a date. Cheers to you, for getting through that :)
Just pretend that Troll is a spinoff of The Neverending Story. Because Bastian knew that Atreyu was an orphan he creates a new family, life, AND name for him, and that apartment doesn't have a view of The Brooklyn Bridge due to that city actually only existing in Fantastica/Fantasia:):)
Grendel teasing Ator Jr. with fake swords is the well-deserved revenge for Mime the Nibelung fucking with Siegfried (as I wish he had, RIP Mime, he deserved better).
ya know i watched that a couple years back after not seeing it for ages and i still enjoy the 1st film even if it's a cheesy ass B movie from the 80's. it's let's face it the best one of the bunch that he snobs in this collection back in the day. its' also the era i love the snob the most when he's angry on how shitty the movies are.
I think we can all agree "you can't piss on hospitality, I won't allow it" is perfect 👌 bettered only by "oh god they're eating them, and then they're gonna eat me"
I like the original Troll more than Gremlins. If it wasn't for the Italian knockoffs using its name, I think it would be viewed favorably and compared with the Gremlins series. The effects were great for their time (and most stand up reasonably well today), and it had charm and personality. The biggest fault of the movie was that at times the side characters were a little too quirky and overshadowed the plot.
i love Gremlins more but what hurts this film the most is that little girl who is clearly the worst actor of the whole bunch. all she does is way over act in this and sure the kid who plays young Harry Potter is not that great of an actor but to be fair his performance isn't painful to watch it's bearable at least
Nice collection though this doesn't contain the infamous Trolls 4 review.... which yeah wasn't based on an actual movie nor technically is Brad's review but honestly I consider part of the Trolls review series.
Grandpa Seth one of the best characters ever made in a movie. The scenes between him and that kid was academy award uhhhhh..loved the popcorn I heard the director thought this movie was great..
Honestly? I like the downer ending to Troll 2. If anything, more horror movies should have downer endings, that's...that's sorta the point of horror, is it not?
No? The point of horror is to scare you. And a lot of the times you want the heroes to overcome the horror, so ending things with a downer just feels like a copout.
@@DarkOverlord96 I feel like that entirely depends on the setting and story. Downer endings can work very, very well and add to what was there before. Just saying outright that ALL downer endings are bad is ...weird. And hey, this is just me but "hero" isn't something i'd use to describe every horror-protagonist because they don't need to be for a good horror story. Can we all speculate at the deep hidden meaning of Snob being barefoot for Troll, wearing stockings for Troll 2, wearing a half foot mitten (whatever that's called) for Troll 3, and wearing shoes for Troll 4? That's gotta be part of some deep Snob intellectual comment or some Lloyd prank, which amounts to the same thing.
since i do enjoy the 1st one i defended the 2nd one for years but i had never seen it, when i was in my 20's i tried to watch it but only got like 10 minutes into it before the acting was so fucking bad that i shut it off and i never went back.

This is why I prefer furbies over trolls or gremlins: They only inspired one bad movie, they're adorable, and the horror is only in people's heads.
Ator was played by Little John, from Robin Hood Men in Tights!
You should hunt down one of the masks from Troll 2 and make your own troll movie.
