Fantastic video that gives a good insight into the huge amount of work that goes into producing High End loudspeakers. And in addition to that, there is even work to be done with the actual design and calculation of units, etc. At 3:21. High End speakers and then connectors are used to connect the speakers. In my opinion, soldering should have been used. When connectors are used, corrosion can occur over time so that the connection deteriorates.
@@Z-add At 3:21, Do they connect the speaker with connectors. There must obviously be a difference between subwoofer units and the other units used, but regardless, soldering will always provide the best connection.
Also at 2:53 you see some more basic connectors. I find it hilarious that people buy these $35K speakers and spend tens of thousands on exotic speaker cables when ultimately they have to go through a 50 cent connector.
Yes, I noticed that too. I'm not a fan of plywood either - for all it's supposed disadvantages (all of which can be overcome with simple protective measures, by the way), MDF is denser, and more rigid, so a superior material. It also works very well with PVA adhesives, so you can finish your enclosure in whatever veneer you choose.
SO there's was actually the president or whatever of that company talking about the process ...then again they decided to leave us the annoying music instead of hearing the most usual information of the video . Wth
The Bowers & Wilkins 803 D4 (the first speaker that is made in this video) are great sounding, full range, end game speaker which sell for as of Dec. 3rd 2022 -> $22,500.00 a pair, and they weigh 62.15 KG (137 pounds) each. They go down to 16Hz and up to 35KHz. They are easy to drive, hard to move around, hard to pay for, but they sound great! These 800 Bowers & Wilkins speakers are also used in Abby Road recording studio in England! 🔊🎶😎
Bob Carver TRUE SIGNATURE subwoofer is WAY more compact WAY more affordable AND sound every bit as powerful in bandwidth, dynamic range...PLUS you can purchase ten of them for the price 1 snooty B&W...HEH! heh heh heh:]
@@catherinetoczek The B&W 803 D4 is a full range speaker, not a powered subwoofer. Do you only listen to powered subs? What speakers do you use for the mids and high frequencies?
The 803 D4 is a very good speaker, but it's FR is actually 19Hz to 28kHz (+/-3dB from reference axis), so it's more like ~24 Hz which is still quite good. As far as it being an end game speaker, it depends on your budget since it's not remotely at the high end of speakers and speaker pricing.
A bass subwoofer as opposed to, you know, a treble subwoofer. 😁 I do love me some Bowers & Wilkins, though! I bought some P3s that shocked me for on-ear headphones... then bought P7s and the PX8s. And the physics of line arrays still feels a bit like magic...ya know?
They aren't woofers of ANY kind. They have a ribbed reflex for a short throw and quick return/response for lows and mids. They also produce a decent high frequency These are guitar amp speakers/PA cab speakers. A woofer or subwoofer has a dimed/spherical reflex for a deep throw (aka bass production).
Look up the speaker designs of BFM. He was an acoustics engineer for NASA and the space shuttle program that retired and started designing killer cabinets of every type for every budget from home theater to make your ears bleed concert grade. He sells the detailed instructions on how to build them. He has a bunch of designs for line arrays. I built a pair of his Table Tuba Long Style subwoofer cabinets each containing a 600watt 10" woofer that can vibrate my entire two story house. They are a 12 foot folded horn in a 5 foot cabinet. They go down to 30hz.
Looks like a paper cone , so it has to be doped to make it stiff. The liquid could be cellulose , but manufacturers have their own proprietary formulas. Paint it on , it dries hard making the cone stiff.
It’s beautiful and difficult to do, but it’s time to ban it from sale and use in megacities, otherwise there won’t be enough capacity to produce antidepressants.
I purchased my Bowers & Wilkins DM7s when they first came out from the professional audio company I worked for, I've still use them there a fantastic speaker, I don't consider any other manufacturer ❤ B&W Speakers 👍👌

If you truly believe that, you have a lot to learn about manufacturing processes. Machines can do some processes better, but definitely not others. A no-expense-spared approach that is using the superlative method in every regard would combine both hand- and machine-made production.
See the ribbed reflex? That is a guitar speaker or a PA speaker. It is made for lows, mids and a little bit of highs. Add a bullhorn for full pronounciation on highs. That is not a woofer. Even though it is large. It is just a driver. A woofer or a sub-woofer has a domed/spherical reflex for a deep throw.
All we really know is it's a woofer, a LF driver. Could be HiFi, PA, or MI (musical instrument). What you refer to as the 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘹 is the 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥. (reflex is a woofer box alignment, with a tuned vent) The surround design doesn't necessarily dictate application ... but you're right ... oftentimes shorter throw "pro" type LF drivers oftentimes have corrugated surround, and hifi type long throw LF drivers often have half-round type surround.
Top Lautsprecherbau. Gute Berechnung und Messung macht sowas möglich. So haben es Isophon von 1980 ähnlich gemacht mit dem Isophon PSL 320/400 ALU 18Hz und das nur mit 32cm Fläche
Starts around 9:40 mark where they jump to a different company. But even then, it looks like pro sub drivers, probably not the kind you're thinking of.
Whoa! I figured they'd be expensive but not that expensive. I'm sure they sound fantastic but I don't have $19,000 ears so I probably would appreciate them even if I could afford them.
