For all you guys worrying about running out of Magicka or potions with the atronach stone, keep in mind every spell you buy or create can be put onto an item as an enchant and you can use the enchant charge to cast in replacement of magicka, and in morrowind that enchant charge will recharge overtime which completely trivializes magicka but will have a much higher upfront cost to get set up
I've been a big elder scrolls fan for most of my life, but I grew up as more of an oblivion and skyrim kid, and never touched morrowind for some reason. But after starting morrowind late last year, I can't put this game down. It quickly became my favorite game in the series, and after my first blind playthrough your content has been a joy to watch and inspires me to build more characters and love this game even more!
If you're using the Atronach sign you can always restore your magicka through Temple shrines or Imperial Cult shrines, or summon your own ancestral ghost and hit it a few times, then dispel it again. It's such an overpowered sign, but fun to play.
You can also enchant bought or made spells onto items as well, like jewelry, misc weapons, or armor. These will use the enchant charge instead of magicka, and that will recharge over time. But it does have a higher upfront cost to get set up. Also scrolls, scrolls are super useful always have some intervention and mark/recall scrolls on hand
The female orc is another interesting option; she leans a little harder into the “sword” aspect of the build, but she gains a bonus to willpower, and suffers no losses to intelligence like her male counterpart.
My high elf atronach artificer had been struggling early on without cheese, but you just made me realize that female orc would actually make waaaaay more sense for the character Im trying to make. Probally have an easier time fresh off the boat too
Literally my first Morrowind character was a Dunmer spellsword with the atronach birthsign. I feel validated now that even as a beginner player I had decent insight into building a good character. The only thing different is that I went with the default spellsword class instead of a custom one.
18:27 the sneak indicator part is interesting, because what you can also do is, stand next to the guard until he starts looking at you and does his "Out with it, filthy N'wah, i don't have time for you!" talk and when he does that, you jump behind him into the corner, so that he now faces the corner. A short moment after he is done with his probably very rude speech, you can leave the corner, but the guard is still standing face to the corner and you can sneak-steal the sword then, too even if you're not behind the pillar next to the staircase. ...This is like the "bucket on head"-method from Skyrim. So long as the NPC is not facing you directly, you can sneak undetected.
You should make "How to Paladin". Focus on heavy armour, mace/hammers, big shields, restoration and alteration. I have made my own paladin build as a noob but I would love to see your version
Just a quick note for people try doing this with the Patch for Purists, you can still grab the Sword of White Woe. Instead of being on the dresser, it will be on the bedside table. If you position yousrself on the beam just left to where he is standing here 18:37 and face the other way, you can eventually find a blind spot and steal it
I've only started playing morrowind a week ago and can honestly say its one of the best games released. In glad that your keeping it alive and simple for new players like me to make it fun .
I haven't played this game in 15 years, but I clearly remember finding a daedric dai-katana in a random shed and feeling like a badass wielding it. This game is soooo good.
Finally the build i was looking for, thank you! I love spellsword build and i always went with breton since the heavy armor are just too cool to leave out, this gave me some ideas and ill try it next time.
This is great build! Playing with this will be so much fun and combination of powerful spell and sword creates the most deadly combination in the entire game!
Pounding headache and toothache, but I'm sitting here forcing myself to drink coffee by sipping water afterwards, while listening to metal and looking up build guides, because I havent played morrowind in 20 years - and the blessed algorithm shows me this channel on my feed lol. I swear it's watching me through me laptop... I'm so glad I found this channel though. This type of content for Morrowind and similar games is needed. You get so many people going back to play, and a lot of younger bethesda fans going back to play it. Especially now that Baldur's Gate 3 is going to start bringing more people to play more classic RPGs with attributes and skills rather than bland perk systems.
This inspired me to play morrowind again. It's been probably 15 years since I last played maybe longer. Loving it because I forgot everything so it's like a fresh start
@CoffeeNutGaming I've been working so much lately and honestly, haven't consistently gamed for almost a year now when I last updated my system. Your videos got me all amped up to get back into Vardenfell, and subsequently back into a little light gaming. I've never played a build like this so that's been fun too. Still busy but man is it fun revisiting the first game that got me heavily invested into RPGs as a little kid. I remember the first year I bought the game I was pretty much in a Seyda Neen/Balmora simulator lmao Figuring it out back then on my own was very rewarding and revisiting that has been awesome. I actually spent 100s and 100s of hours in Morrowind as a kid and I still learned a couple things from this video which made me smile. Really lookin forward to Skywind and I hope to see your videos playing it. Keep up the good stuff!
an interesting thing, im reading the witcher books right now. you mentioned him so many times, but yes, this is true, spellsword looks just like the witcher. idk why but my every playthrough in morrowing was with this class. i dont remember i used any others. without any changes in abilities, just picking this an existing class. anyway, your videos are awesome as always!
Great guides you make ! I discovered your channel not long ago and I love it ! I made a sort of spellsword almost like that (but on axe, heavy armor and conjuration). And Atronach was my choice too, and it's great ! Another way to turn around the stunt magicka is to apply to the Imperial cult : after a few missions, you'll have free access to the altar, and to the restore attributes benediction. And your spell absorbtion will restore you magicka in a instant! So: Mark - Divine Intervention - pray on the altar - Recall... and back in the fight again ! That being said, I must confess I'm a little disapointed with the class name... I thought you would go for "S-W-O-R-D" :D but maybe it's too "dad's joke" for a native english speaker ^^
Awesome guide as always. Yeah, I've had to stop using the Atronach sign. It's just the best sign by a long way. There just isn't an archetype that it doesn't improve whether you intend on casting spells or not. I tried it once or twice when I was a kid and thought it was terrible, ran out of mana a couple of times and was like, nah. I like the magicka weakness sign on a dark elf and roleplaying that it's basically a recessive gene from when they were the Aldmer before the curse.
Just started playing this again since I think 2003? Great relaxing game when I need a break from elden ring, thanks for reigniting my nostalgia for this game, forgot how good it was
Another reason to take Light Armour as a skill is that the summoned armour from the Bound item spells use the light armour skill. These are a great option as they give you almost a full suit of Daedric Armour at level one. You'll just have to find some pauldrons and greaves.
one of my first Morrowind toons was an dark elf armed with just summon boots and summon dagger spells. and some magicka potions. really strong starting toon, IF i don't fail casting 4 times in a row! :)))))))
I agree but for later game the Cuirass of the saviour hide and the boots of blinding speed are a must. You can use summon boots, gloves and shield if you want to save weight and build up your unarmoured skill to fill in the gaps
@@michaeldavies7949 right, but in later game you can enchant yourself a pair of expensive/extravagant, or orcish/daedric boots with an enchant stronger than those boots. if you play as a mage/spellsword with Light Armor as one of major skills, you are right: with added skill, these two are more effective. if you play as a "pure mage", relying just on your spells, scrolls, enchanted items, and skilled in Unarmored, because robes and stuff does not have any armor, not so. same if you want to play with Heavy Armor as one of your major skills, because their biggest enchanting capabilities... also, Cuirass is a must for any high elf toon, because this one compensate one of their greatest weakness... and is really easy to get at level 1! :D for a breton, is really sweet to wear: innate 50% resist, and the Cuirass, with another 60%!... :D but, as i already said, as a mage or spellsword, you will be able in later game to enchant your own gear, with better enchantments, without these minuses... @@miftosaurus Stronger than 200 speed? No you can't. A breton with the Saviour's cuirass and the boots of Bspeed doesn't even get affected by the blindness drawback. In the vanilla game unarmoured doesn't work because of a glitch. You need a shielding buff or wear at least one piece of armour for it to work As regards to enchanting. I know the difference in all ES games. You can circumnavigate paying thousands of gold with the fortify intelligence exploit with Ash yams and bloat alchemy. As there is no stat limit you can get 10000 intelligence and this will easily be enough for you to enchant yourself a constant effect piece of clothing/armour/jewellery. It won't be as good as the legendary pieces you will find though eg the fists of randagulf are serious required equipment for a melee specialist
@Seaworth I see mods that make gameplay easier as exploitation not something that is built into the game. The super stats was nerfed in oblivion you can't have a skill improved with high stats past 100 and the intelligence stat doesn't make your potions better so the fortify intelligence glitch doesn't work
Great guide! I’ve been playing a nightblade character that is almost the spellsword in the video (but with sneak, shortblade, security etc) using spells to weaken enemies and finishing them off with a sb. Waiting for your take on a Nightblade! Edit: While also using illusion to enhance sneakiness! Blind spells, sound. Such a great playstyle!
Coffee i know you’ve been playing this game about as long as ive been alive, but did you know you can shift/ctrl click items in a stack for example gold to take only one or all of the stack? That way you dont have to hit the [ok] box every time.
When stealing the limeware in the beginning, I find the best way is to approach the shelf, open your menus, pick up the item and then just put it down directly after (don't even need to place it in your inv). You can do this with any item within reach of your menu screen and the guard will approach you after you close your menus. But then you can pick everything up and they will stay in your inv even if you do another attempt. Like I like to do all the books too. I think that makes sense how I explained. I learned this trick because I do tons of decorating by just placing things where I want them in the world from my inv. I decorate entire shelves or tables without ever closing my inv. Try it out, it's a game changer and I've never seen anyone else ever do it
New sub. Found you looking for character builds as I never took a real shot at this game. Not much good content elsewhere for this game. Not sure if it would be too close to the warrior build but would love to see a Samurai build
oh my god, this is exactly the type of build I was looking for, thank you so much!!! I just started playing morrowind and its a bit overwhelming but I wanted to try a spellsword badass and this is perfect!
I just started playing Morrowind for the first time two days ago. I opted for the classical experience by buying for Xbox Original and using my 360 as the emulator since backwards compat works on there. My guy: Argonian His name: Jeerava Weaves Many Spells (unfortunately I couldn't use the typical dash symbol with the Argonian name since Xbox never had that option) His class: Spell Spear (I figured that since they were spears that Bethesda might've made the range on them better than other melee weapons) His build: Strength and Agility (as favored attributes) Athletics, Spear, Medium Armor, Mercantile, Speech Craft (Major Skills) Long Blade, Alchemy, Armorer, Illusion, Mysticism (Minor Skills) and then I used birthsign of the Lady to boost Endurance and Personality for my necessary skills. I'd like to add that because I had the instruction booklet with the game I didn't and still haven't looked up anything except what specific armor and weapons I want endgame. I have the goal of ending my fashion scrolls with Indoril Armor, a Glass Halberd, and a Glass Claymore. I'm having a really good time so far and I actually like the way this game looks since I grew up with MYST on my grandads computer as a boy. So far I have killed everything with my spear no issue and emptied Balmora of wealth with my potions since my Mercantile is so fucking high. 10/10 so far would become a scaly druglord again.
Your Morrowind videos are great. Informative, fun, funny. I've watched many of them. The one thing I've noticed is that you never take the key and loot the warehouse. I usually leave town with close to $3k every time. Just realizing this is a year old. Do you even check the comments anymore?
Great videos man, I'm glad I've discovered your channel. It's nice to see that somebody creates such good fresh content for Morrowind. Keep up the good work!
I love this channel so much, got me wanting to play morrowind and finish it. Me from 15 years ago just used to bumble around BUT I did love the house Hlallu quest line
Love your vids bro. Played morrowind as a kid when it came out. Always come back to it for like 23 years or however long it’s been. All my mage/sorcerer/warlock etc characters use the Atronach. It’s just too good. Love absorb health too.
Awesome video Coffee, can't wait to see the Battlemage one been debating doing a Telvanni Battlemage now with the tease I will be watching my notification bell very closely. Keep up the amazing content Muthsera :D
Been trying to get into Morrowind and this build seems right up my alley can't promise I'll play it soon but if I have the time this video helped alot tnhx
Love the content man! Taking a break from Morrowind been getting into ESO lately You make me always wanna play morrowind again haha EVERY TIME you make these videos
Really nice and informative Guide. It s really cool that you pay that much attention to the character creation. How about a Hand to Hand build next, Something Like a Monk using Unarmored, Alteration and Restoration?
@@nicholasfarrell5981 Yeah paralysis would be a nice fit maybe even destruction or mysticism with damage/drain and absorb fatigue. The main challenge would be how to effectively play with hand to hand in Morrowind since it s pretty OP against individual enemies but when you re fighting two or more it s a pain in the ass. I had a custom class Nord barbarian build with hand to hand as my minor skill. It s really good against one enemy but fighting a group was really difficult (especially against tough enemies like the riekling raiders in Bloodmoon)
Spell absorption and reflect are multiplicative, you need one instance to grant the full 100% effect, (50%+50%=75%). Reflect only works once and cannot be blocked when it does (this actually pierces godmode...), this is important when you cast spells on enemies with their own reflect (quite a few have it), it will not be reflected again (but the absorb health on touch is excellent, as it cancels the damage out). Reflect doesn't work on traps, but absorption does. Attronach sign is absolutely busted for sure. You can kill Vivec with just his own spells, with 100% reflect, just standing at range (to avoid his melee).
i would also suggest making a corpserun through Ramimilk, the deadric ruin just southeast of Buckmoth Legion Fort. there's a Wizard's Staff in the back room behind a trapped door that you can grab for free 30sec levitation on use it's only 1 pt so it's slow going but you always have it for hard to reach places, wont cost you magicka (which is good for atronach signs) and if you boots of blinding speed cheese (since you have light armor) 1pt doesn't matter cause your walk speed is now ridiculous anyway great content as always!
You can also make a spell of open lock 100, go to Tel Fyr, go up to the top floor and open the chests there. There's a crazy expensive mace and the best light armour chest.
It's true, names give your character most of their power. I'm doing a stealth archer in Skyrim right now (very original), and for a character that spends half her time stalking around the woods at night, I obviously had to go with "Wendy Gough"
Love your content. I saw a video explaining how to make a restore magicka spell( really usefull as the atronach), in short you make a drain intelligence 100pts for 1 seconds and it should refill your mana. Dunno if it been fixed, didnt tried it myself.
Because of your break down of this class I was able to add summoning for a Shadow Knight build like from the original EverQuest great video i hope you do make more Build Guides for vanilla or modded they are fun content to watch and try out
One of the balmora temple guys sell a restore fatigue spell. I like to make a 1-10pt over a minute. It allows you to basically fight or cast and keep your fatigue topped off for the bonuses
swear youre the only person making good morrowind content that isnt exclusively lets plays

If you're using the Atronach sign you can always restore your magicka through Temple shrines or Imperial Cult shrines, or summon your own ancestral ghost and hit it a few times, then dispel it again. It's such an overpowered sign, but fun to play.

Though I'm hoping he gets to the Boxer next, you don't see many breakdowns on that playstyle even though it's *sooooooooooooooooooooooo* fun to play.
Try it out, it's a game changer and I've never seen anyone else ever do it
Solid guide. Back in the day it took me lots of trial and error to learn these tricks. Makes me want to play again.
It's never a bad time to head back to Vvardenfell!
Could you do a heavy armor sorcerer build? I've been playing around with one using some enchant and mysticism and it's been very fun
That's what I was thinking of for more of a Battle Mage build - heavily armored tank with blunt weapon and spells
I being waiting for this one!! Bound sword is extremely useful ! And wait! There’s more! Weightless !
New sub. Found you looking for character builds as I never took a real shot at this game. Not much good content elsewhere for this game. Not sure if it would be too close to the warrior build but would love to see a Samurai build
Jaw dropped when i saw this vid came out, you are the man!
oh my god, this is exactly the type of build I was looking for, thank you so much!!!
My guy: Argonian
His name: Jeerava Weaves Many Spells (unfortunately I couldn't use the typical dash symbol with the Argonian name since Xbox never had that option)
His class: Spell Spear (I figured that since they were spears that Bethesda might've made the range on them better than other melee weapons)
His build: Strength and Agility (as favored attributes) Athletics, Spear, Medium Armor, Mercantile, Speech Craft (Major Skills) Long Blade, Alchemy, Armorer, Illusion, Mysticism (Minor Skills) and then I used birthsign of the Lady to boost Endurance and Personality for my necessary skills.
10/10 so far would become a scaly druglord again.
very nice guide, i just recently started playing morrowind and was looking for a video about a good spellsword build but i didnt find one until now
Your Morrowind videos are great. Informative, fun, funny. I've watched many of them. The one thing I've noticed is that you never take the key and loot the warehouse. I usually leave town with close to $3k every time. Just realizing this is a year old. Do you even check the comments anymore?
Caught me off guard in the beginning bit. Figured you would go for that iron sparksword first.
Hell yeah - glad to hear it! 🤘
Hi bro i watched this while drunk after coming home from a party. Great content. Love how invested and pumped you are :)
Loved it, been trying to get into Morrowind after playing Skyrim for years, and your video made me want to try again 👍
Awesome editing and commentary for the greatest game of all time, thanks coffee!
This video is amazing, even cleared up the reflect+absorb magic combo.
I'm following this guide, may have conjuration over athletics. Not sure
Rocking this as my first unmodded playtrough.
Im so happy i found your channel. Love me some Morrowind. Definitely subscribed. Any plans for a battle mage?
first time playing morrowind, i'm already lv 11, it's really rough at the start but i'm having fun, thanks for the tip of items!
Love your vids bro.
Played morrowind as a kid when it came out. Always come back to it for like 23 years or however long it’s been.
All my mage/sorcerer/warlock etc characters use the Atronach. It’s just too good.
Love absorb health too.
Great video! Love your energy and game knowledge. Definitely looking forward to your other vids.
Awesome video Coffee, can't wait to see the Battlemage one been debating doing a Telvanni Battlemage now with the tease I will be watching my notification bell very closely. Keep up the amazing content Muthsera :D
Man i love your Morrowind How To videos, keep up the great work ✌️
Your videos are very informative and have a cozy atmosphere. I watch them to learn something new and also to chill. Great job!
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying them 😊
I'm definitely useing this build in a video
Been trying to get into Morrowind and this build seems right up my alley can't promise I'll play it soon but if I have the time this video helped alot tnhx
Also note, how no mods are needed to enjoy the gameplay aspect of this game one bit. It's as rich and detailed as you want (or broken).
Agreed! The vanilla system will always have a special place in my heart
Love the content man! Taking a break from Morrowind been getting into ESO lately
You make me always wanna play morrowind again haha EVERY TIME you make these videos
Nice Carcass shirt, love that band heartwork is a classic melodeath album!!
Agreed! One of my favorites. Was just listening to Surgical Steel this morning.
Rot n Roll 🤘
Just binged a few of your morrowind videos. So nostalgic and wonderful!
Really nice and informative Guide. It s really cool that you pay that much attention to the character creation.
How about a Hand to Hand build next, Something Like a Monk using Unarmored, Alteration and Restoration?
You want Illusion in that build, Paralysis makes an enemy count as knocked down for your Hand-to-Hand attacks.
Well, found my build to finally play this game. Thanks man
Wonderful video.i love your style
Spell absorption and reflect are multiplicative, you need one instance to grant the full 100% effect, (50%+50%=75%). Reflect only works once and cannot be blocked when it does (this actually pierces godmode...), this is important when you cast spells on enemies with their own reflect (quite a few have it), it will not be reflected again (but the absorb health on touch is excellent, as it cancels the damage out). Reflect doesn't work on traps, but absorption does. Attronach sign is absolutely busted for sure.
You can kill Vivec with just his own spells, with 100% reflect, just standing at range (to avoid his melee).
i would also suggest making a corpserun through Ramimilk, the deadric ruin just southeast of Buckmoth Legion Fort. there's a Wizard's Staff in the back room behind a trapped door that you can grab for free 30sec levitation on use
it's only 1 pt so it's slow going but you always have it for hard to reach places, wont cost you magicka (which is good for atronach signs) and if you boots of blinding speed cheese (since you have light armor) 1pt doesn't matter cause your walk speed is now ridiculous anyway
great content as always!
The goat back with another vid
You can also make a spell of open lock 100, go to Tel Fyr, go up to the top floor and open the chests there. There's a crazy expensive mace and the best light armour chest.
Scourge da bomb
I never comment on videos .... but this is a damn good video !
I appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed it
"Spells? Word."
You clever bastard
The Spell Sword/Battlemage is typically what I end up making in every Elder Scrolls game
...
And most other games
New subscriber here. Thank you for the work you're putting into these videos, they're incredible!
Another brilliantly entertaining and informative video!
Both informative and well-structured, great video!
It allows you to basically fight or cast and keep your fatigue topped off for the bonuses
just please keep making any kind of content for any tes stuff lol I'll watch it all
