@Well-Loved Knits Isabelle The Giraffe is adorable! 👏 😁 She is going to be such great company for Baby. Also, I started crocheting a bunny (pattern by Yarnspirations) before you started making Isabelle and you still finished before I did! No fair! 😉

Maybe you can use the leftovers to make matching spotted baby beanies. You can make them in a few sizes so he can always match the giraffe as he grows. Each one can be different color combos, inverted colors, etc. so you can use all the yarn up.

This is the second Animal Friends Book and all these patterns are done in pieces. If you want to change to working in the round and stuff as you go, watch Linda Eld you tube, she does it and I tried it and found it so much easier and more fun. I have made 10 of the animals from the first book, my grand kids love them, they are best friends. by the way, your work is so good. A helpful hint for anyone wanting to make these, fill a little more than you think it needs because after a lot of play, they soften up a lot. Also, the head is really wobbly when done in pieces, Linda shows how to secure the head much better.

@@gabrielaevertsson2932 hi. It is episode #5 where she first talks about the neck stabilizer. That is 2 years ago but she has many other helpful episodes and talks about the neck in other episodes.

Pro tip: Scheepjes has mini balls of their yarn available. I believe they are 10 g each. It is really handy for projects like this, where you only need a small amount of colours.

Idea for the scraps! you can knit a modified version of the musselborough hat so that the inside is a yarn that is soft enough for baby, but the outside borrows some of the motifs from the giraffe pattern (e.g. the spots and the ears) so he can match Isabel!

I have made many of Susan B Anderson's' not so itty bitty giraffe's (give a bunch away as gifts) and could really relate to your sewing and stuffing the animal. I love that giraffe, she does look like the picture. I must save up for that cute book and try it, as well as the other animals in the book. So darn cute, you did good!!! You could make more for gifts with your leftover yarn, that's what I did with the giraffe's I made. And, I made them in the colors that the child asked for. Love the comment about your child's new best friend... tears of joy. love, hugs, prayers

Hi! Coincidentally, I'm on a big soft toy kick too! So many people wanting one😙 I found that sewing and stuffing as you go makes finishing less daunting. Oh, and kitchenering the top of the foot makes an excellent finish. I made the fox first, and then I made my second animal (mouse) in the round. Ps, you can copystich anything that might let stuffing escape. Much love from Shetland 💖

The giraffe turned out so darned cute!!! You inspired me to buy this pattern book for myself, and I can't wait for it to arrive! I did a bit of research and came across Linda Eld on UA-cam. She has come up with an approach where she knits the critters entirely in the round (Episode 30), and I am keen to try it out for myself. I thought I would mention it in case you decide to knit up a friend for baby boy's giraffe :)

The giraffe is great....so sweet. I made a teddy bear for my daughter while awaiting her arrival. Over the years all her "fur" got loved off. 52 years later my daughter still has it. I suggest you make your baby a striped sweater with all the leftovers from his animals! Fun!

This is ridiculously cute! I have 4 kids ages 6 yrs-10 months and I have never felt the urge to knit a stuffed animal BUT now I am feeling the need to knit my baby girl a small cat! And yay the quilt!!!!!! You will be so thankful to have that to snuggle him up with. I made crib quilts for all my kids and they use them every night even though some of them are bigger than the quilt now.

I was given this book and took it to Staples to have it spiral bound since it cost less than $10. I knew I would be flipping back & forth thru the pages & wanted them to lay flat while I followed the directions. I knit the elephant first. Sooo cute! Now what is a 74 Year old woman going to do with knitted animals LOL? But I just have to knit them all. I love your giraffe too. Yes, I want them all. I also knit the clothes and used cotton yarn in my stash. But I did use the Stone washed yarn it called for, like you did, for the body so I was sure to get correct gauge. You have convince me to keep going ….. and my great-grand children will some day have a menagerie.

And I'm sure as baby boy cuddles with it, over time the stuffing and stitches will change anyway so no point in fretting over the lumps and holes ☺I am really excited to cast on a baby blanket for my sisters second kid. She picked out a bright and happy blue color and its going to be such a joy to knit with!

Stuffed animal projects are just so fun! They're one of my favorite things to make, and I don't have little kids anymore so I just give them all away. :)
I hate the seaming too, so I choose seamless animal patterns whenever I can. I really want to try one of these Louise Crowther animals though. They are so lovely! Your giraffe turned out so well! A perfect friend for baby.
(I think when I start one, I will do some modifications to make it seamless. There's a YT channel by Linda Eld with tutorials on how she makes these animals seamless, if you're interested in avoiding the seaming if you make another.)

I am obsessed. Baby number 5 is coming in November, and I finally have both the skills and confidence to make all the things. I am really loving following along with you in the baby makes, it keeps me inspired and encouraged to keep it up. Your giraffe is absolutely lovely! I am crocheting a little bear to make into a rattle, but it is on the back burner as he/she won’t need it right away, where as other things, they will. I have been dancing with the idea of quilting for years, I even have a half made top in a tote. If I can get ahead of my knitting goals, I may follow suit and attempt a baby quilt too! Thank you for sharing your journey in such a pleasant and relatable way, you make for good company.

Babies LOVE stuffies that are shaped like that, they're so huggable. If they have a more realistic animal shape, they are hard to snuggle! If it was me, I'd be all over making that giraffe a wardrobe 😁
P.S. In case no one else has said, the "flying geese" are the shapes that are around the center block that make up the star. (I'm a quilter and don't know the specific name for that star either) Anyway, flying geese are a common quilt component and you can find lots of videos that help with how to sew them up nicely!
