Simple Smoothie Time quilt using 2 1/2 inch STRIPS! 6th in a series to use leftover strips!

- Sixth project in a series using 2 1/2 inch strips to make scrappy quilts! Moda Fabrics had this great pattern to use with a Jelly Roll available for shop owners to share with their customers. Any pattern that works with a Jelly Roll will also work with leftover 2 1/2 inch strips! I made two samples for you to see in this video. A lap sized version using my Halloween strips, and a full sized version using a variety of Christmas prints. For the Christmas version, I added a 4" border between the outer rows of blocks to give the eye somewhere to rest and add to the size without making more blocks. The Moda website has a great variety of wonderful patterns that you can download and print at home, make sure to check out the FREE PATTERNS section of their website!

Stay to the end to see the bonus projects I made using the leftovers from the quilts!
There is also an update on the scrap bucket situation and how that is looking!
I've challenged myself to do a new project each month using only 2 1/2 inch strips from my scrap buckets. I have always saved leftover strips from projects and cut up small leftover fabric from yardage into 2 1/2 inch strips and put them in a bucket for some "future" project . The future is now! It is time to tame the scrap bucket and use up these strips. I'll always have a scrap bucket of strips because I'm constantly adding to it but I want to get it down to just ONE bucket instead of three...make that seven after the "GREAT SORTING"! This series will last until I'm down to one bucket. Let's be honest, it will take at least 2 years to use up enough strips to make a difference! So join me on this project adventure to use up fabric scraps!

I absolutely love this series! Not only is it scrappy quilting which is my favorite, but the patterns are simple and relatively quick and easy sewing! I will be sad if the strip buckets ever become empty. 😂
You have the sweetest voice that makes your videos so enjoyable in addition to the creation of some amazing quilts!
Thank you so much 🙂
I agree! Easy to understand and not too fast! Great!
I love scrap quilts, especially when the scraps are from prior projects. Sewing is a nice walk down memory lane, at least when I remember the projects previously made. Plus, I don’t feel any pressure to sew perfect. Good enough is good enough. And the end results are always great!!! Thanks for sharing a scrappy quilt passion.
Glad you are doing these tutorials on the strips!
I love watching this , great teach and idea , we're you watching from?
❤ Gorgeous ❤ Fun ❤ I Love This Series ❤
Now you have inspired me to clean out my strip buckets 🎉

I just love this series! Great use of scraps, thanks for sharing all your good ideas. I don’t have nearly as many 2 1/2” strips as you do, but these videos make me wish I did. You are welcome to send me some of yours lol.
Neither do I, but these videos got me wanting to cut stash fabric into straps lol
@@dafairygirl86yes!♥️
I just found your series. It took me less than a couple minutes to tell myself that your machine was a bernina, and y😮es, it was a model I either currently had or one I owned. These days, I am down to 3 models, my bernina, a juki tl-2010q, and a babylock destiny. I am starting from the back, lol. Thanks for the memories.
These quilts are wonderful. Congrats on using up more of your strips. Looking forward to seeing what's next!
I really love your teaching style. You make it easy to understand. ❤❤❤
Thank you! 😃
Enjoying this series. Thanks for showing us some great projects.
I love watching this , great teach and idea , we're you watching from?
They look fabulous. I love the border on the Christmas one.
I agree...the border is perfect.
On the Halloween quilt, I love the fabric that is black with large green dots...makes it look like some eyes peering out between the other fabrics.
Thanks so much! 😊
A wonderful lesson in overcoming one's fears of free motion quilting. Thanks for showing us how to keep the faith in ones self.
Wow! That's gorgeous! I'm loving your scrap series
Thank you so much!
Love these two seasonal quilts! Amazing job!
Yes, I love scrappy and 2.5 inch strips. Thanks for the ideas.
Beautiful work 😊
I love watching this , great teach and idea , we're you watching from?
I am loving your strip series. I love seeing someone working with their own scrap pile and not just precut sets of strips or squares that already match. I have lots of scraps to use up before I allow myself to buy any more fabric. I also like that you are working with pins; I was starting to feel like I was the only person who still sewed with pins rather than clips.
This series is great, I now cut my scraps into 2 1/2 inch strips so I can make the different patterns. You are so easy to listen to. Keep the ideas coming. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and expertise.
Great instructions. Easy to follow. Will also be making this with children’s fabric and another one in all floral prints. Can’t wait to try this technique!
Wonderful!
Binge watched all the videos in this series and enjoyed every one! Perfect for making scrappy quilts from leftovers with very little waste. I also enjoy this kind of sewing; it's very relaxing to me. Thank you for sharing!

This is just wonderful! You are a great teacher and I really appreciate that you sound so proud of yourself. As sewers of any kind, so often I hear folks downplaying their finished project. It was so nice to see and hear how much you love making quilts. Thanks for the video, I look forward to each one.
Thank you so much!
Loovee the halloween and christmas quilts. . I AM ENJOYING THE VIDEOS, AND THANK YOU FOR THE FREE PATTERNS, AND I AM A BEGINNER, SO THEY LOOK LIKE I WILL ENJOY THEM. THEY DON'T LOOK TOO DIFFICULT TO MAKE.

I have loved this series!!!! Maybe in the future use some 5” scrappy quilts.
🤔
@@thequiltedforestmaybe she thinks about 5" strips? Simply squares, I assume, would work the best.
Love this project and all of the other ones as well. Such great ideas! We all have this size strips and you graciously provide us with the inspiration to get creative. WIN! WIN!
LOL how fun! Love your quilts.
This my favorite series! You are a great teacher. I have started cutting more of my leftover scraps into 2 1/2 inches strips
I love this series! So inspiring. I've been in a reading and quilting slump lately, but this inspires me!
I'm so glad!
Love both quilts. I am making a lap quilt for Christmas. thanks for sharing.
Wonderful!
I have more fun making quilts from leftovers than anything else I make. I just love seeing the scrap piles shrink and the new things grow.
I absolutely agree! I especially love making stained glass blocks.
Beautiful ❤
Very cute quilts! What a great way to use your scraps and create new blocks and straps for the next projects! ❤❤😊
Thank you for these videos. I love them and especially liked that you did not iron your strips first. If I had to iron all my old strips first, I wouldn't have been so eager to start. Thanks!
Love your creativity so fun to see you explain each step, your a great artist ❤
Thank you so much!
I'm really enjoying the series! I hope there will be an Orphan Block series coming up!
Wow that turned out great
I took up pieceing and quilting after 40 years about 3 or 4 years ago. The internet and creators like you have been truly inspiring; but, one thing I figured out is that I really didn't want to have buckets and buckets of "spare parts!" So, I have been pretty careful about patterns that use up as much of the fabric as possible. Evenso, I still have lots of stuff left over, so am looking forward to implementing your great ideas for using it all up! Thanks for great content!
A lot of work, but well worth it! I really like what you did! I like the idea of using those scraps!
Thanks a bunch!
Great video on using
2- 1/2" strips. Looking forward to seeing more video's.
Fun, easy, scrappy quilts! I love it and like others I wish I had more scraps! And I love the interior border you added to the Christmas quilt. Thank you for all you do!
Wow! Sure am enjoying your scrap 2.5" series!
