- The start of a journey, really, this model set has finally arrived courtesy of @Kapowtoys and here you can look at it as I do in the flesh for the first time! It's a strange thing to be looking at a new Star Fleet toy!
I've built a moderoid kit. They’re pretty straight forward snap-fit kits, like high grade gundam kits. So not tough builds, especially a uncomplicated body like dai-x's. The odd bit might need some glue for safety, and if there’s stickers you're better off using paint as they don't stick on very well.
Being a fan of the show myself, I'll be getting this for Xmas. Even though I'm 44 years old 😅.
This will be my 4th X bomber model. 2 original 1980s Japanese models and the Evolution model from 2014. Also the 2009 Dvd release, a Mark plastic model of the baddies ship and a making of book from 2022.
I absolutely loved this show as a kid. Rushing down on a Saturday morning to watch it on a large Philips TV. Those were the days 😅.
Once upon a time I had a Mark model of an Imperial Fighter but it vanished without trace. I tended to focus more on the video or written material, there's another video on the channel looking at Star Fleet collectables in the round...
While it remains to be seen if modeler's glue is required, I do know you're going to need a pair of nippers and (probably) a couple of squares of sandpaper.
Mine also arrived from Kapow this week. Will be building (attempting to, anyway) it over the Christmas break. I'm sure it will be interesting as I've never done a GUNPLA style set before. Good luck with yours!
Well, I'll be attempting to build mine too over Christmas. Trying to fiddle around , Google translate the Japanese instructions, etc. look at the box and think "Why doesn't mine look like that"😂
that model kit looks awesome. Starfleet was truly a masterpiece. Absolutely loved that show. I think they made one series and that was it, they destroyed all the sets and models etc. Or I think they were burned in a fire, not sure of the whole story. But yeah, nice model kit.
Yes, 24 English episodes were your lot I'm afraid. Much more information on my website and others these days of course. Remains a unique example of such a show.
i have the dvd box set of star fleet. Its almost complete but i lent a couple of the discs to someone years ago and never seen them again. One of my greatest regrets...
I dare say you could still find a replacement but it dawned on me recently that a lot of the old DVD box sets can be quite collectable in and of themselves...
I'm surprised they didn't just wait to send out these from Kapow till after Christmas now. I 've had mine on preorder since August hoping it would be released in November, but that came and went. Hopefully get a email soon from the Kapow team. Looking forward to this classic 80's Saturday morning kids icon. All fingers crossed.
I know of at least one other person who's got theirs but I guess it may depend on how many they got and order dates?
