@@Matanumi I’ve built a handful of early 00 screw kits too and even then they did some clever stuff. It’s rare that I don’t like their kits. The worst ones so far are the HG IBO ones that loosen up a lot and the hand grenade RG#01.
Well at least he has a figure and while Escaflowne doesn't have his dragon mode, again at least he has a figure and you can put him in cool poses. Great job as usual Kararot and I will keep praying for Escaflowne and Outlaw Star to be in Super Robot Wars, even though I know it will never happen.
the Moderoid line is sometimes a hit or a miss because Max Factory and Good Smile Company is still new in the model kits market department, it will take a decade or two to improve their tech.

My dad was the person who got me into Gundam and GUNPLA same with evangelion and he was disappointed and sad that escaflowne wasn't as big of a success as the two because he loved it
Showing it with the Gunpla would put it at about a 1:72 scale or so, as the Escaflowne is only just over 8 meters tall. It'd scale a lot better with Dunbine's Aura Battlers if Bandai took another stab at it.
I also wished Bandai's gonna make a "Revive" version of Aura Battlers HG/MG. The Renewal released long time ago(HG:2001/MG:2009) has started to show it's age. I have a suspicion the P-Bandai Dunbine MG(2014) is just the old MG Dunbine with gold engravings(cause it still have the crappy sword gripping hand)
They did just do the hg sirbine. I just got it in the mail and it looks like it will be really great. It has a more medieval look than the dunbine and might actually look cool standing next to the Escaflowne

I just finished building the new HG 1/72 Sirbine and its a pretty solid and big kit compared to 1/144 Gundams. It's about the size of the HGUC Sazabi! I don't know anything about Dunbine's Aura Battlers but Sirbine looked neat so I picked it up!
Just bought this kit ( then watched review😝) after opening the box immediately knew that some work was required but nothing to difficult the hardest part will be repainting the markings and finding a decent bone color
Review is fair enough. I have the Moderoid Dangaioh, and while it's quite a bit better than the Escaflowne, you're still paying MG money for essentially an RE/100 model done well (the finished Dangaioh model is 18 cm tall). Part of that additional expense of course is the licensing fees Good Smile Company has to pay to the original IP owners; Bandai doesn't need to do that as they own Gundam.
If only they could add simple parts-forming turning this into a dragon. But still Moderoid products always in single form ( like Strelitzia but no Lion form )
@@brandonsanchez7465 The LM Escaflowne was pure crap. It was molded in only one color, the arms and legs were solid pieces, and the sword was molded in the right hand. There were also LM kits for the Alseides and Scheherazade, which were equally crappy.
@@dol_mel7487 the mid 1990's LMHG's are quite bad in colour accuracy, and parts fitting. To be fair, there were rumours that the early Eva LMHG's are Bandai's learning phase in doing non-Gunpla HG's. Based on my personal experience, the Eva LMHG starts to improve on the 7th kit (01-Test type+extra parts) The huge improvement comes when the Rebuild of Eva series kit was released, starting from year 2007. The Eva RG's is essentially the best Bandai Eva kit. Buy it if it's available and affordable.
Too bad this doesn't have the ability to transform to dragon mode. I have the giant action figure of Escaflowne and it has the ability to transform and back again. With cape (Yes, plastic), and hands, even a sword and hand holding for the sword.
So, it's a RG/MG in terms of price for a HG in terms of color separation and somewhat awful articulation (though it is impressive that it manages to hold the sword with both hands relatively well). The most interesting part is the face being painted, which is nicer than say, a sticker on there, but that's rather disappointing in general. No transformation gimmick either...

Back when I was a kid, I never got into Escaflowne. I was more into my kind of anime franchises such as Dragon Ball, Digimon, etc..

The obsolete kits are pretty decent along with the patlabors nothing a paint job can't make even more impressive ( painting the AV 98 ingram now😁)
Kind of weird how Good Smile keep getting licenses for Bandai properties. They make all the Obsolete kits and now Escaflowne.
