Yes. You can buy the original 1980 X bomber model on ebay. The only thing is that most tend to be red and white, so completely the wrong colour. Also be prepared to pay a small fortune for good examples. I purchased an original Dai X toy from a eBay seller in Fukuoka, Japan and paid £215GBP for it, then £53 customs charge.
Mentski Now that's just gone and reminded me of that other sci-fi puppet show Terrahawks. Which Star Fleet's opening theme tune alone defecates over IMO.
just been on a star fleet binge and found this video, I looked into buying one but I just cant justify it on my budget :( so will have to wait till I have it spare or someone gets it me for Christmas :)
Massive fucking thumbs up. If you only ever have one giant transforming robot in your life, this is surely the one to go for, even if it is from Hobby Link Japan which means you must have had to sell a kidney or two. But hell, that's what it's all about isn't it?
My cousin had a chogokin robot which was really heavy along with the X Bomber ship. It was really cool. I also love the show even to this day. I was shocked when I found out the english verion had Brian May singing the intro.
Got the dvd box set signed by Garrick "Biggs Darklighter" Hagon and Liza Ross (Captain Carter and Lamia) who happen to be husband and wife in real life.
Superb video that. I was a massive fan of Star Fleet, but aside from nearly picking up a betamax video of the series at a boot fair nearly 20 years ago, I've not really thought about it for some time. This though, I might get sometime.
I owned the large Blitzkrieg Combination Dai-X from Takatoku toys. It was a nice enough figure but not really accurate to the TV show. Also it really wasn't worth what I paid for it;
Calling someone "Space Pilot John Lee" remains the worst insult imaginable.
I feel horrible even thinking about him.
+ashens hey stuart !!!!
This is by far one of my favorite videos you've put out so far. Well done sir.
I second this!
Ahh bless ya. I actually hate talking to the camera and always think I look like a gibbering buffoon!
The original Japanese toy commercial can be found here on YT. Both Dai-X and X-Bomber but with different color scheme probably based on the manga.
Yussss... There is also an Annual, which I picked up on Holiday in Australia in a junk market. Because... why not.
Did they ever make a model kit or diecast of any of the spacecraft?

I'm honestly, seriously tempted to buy two and have one in robot mode and the other on stands as the "jets" in formation.
Nice review.
My favourite bit of self-build Lego was inspired by that pointy, x-wing style ship. It split into three parts to boot.
I wonder if they do that ship as well.....
Coming from Wales as I do, I can't help but snicker every time I hear "Big Dai".
He is the Welshest of all giant robots. I imagine him to have a deep booming voice reminiscent of Windsor Davies.

***** Son, you are out of your mind. Next you'll be saying the Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors theme is superior to Galaxy Rangers.
Oh god no! (I'm not even talking about the vocal version either.)

Wow! I love it ☺ i watched Starfleet too 👍 cool video :)
This show was the bomb back in that day. Also didn't know you were Chelters mate, I live there too :)

Gravewolf He didn't sing the song used in the actual series, he just covered it and released it as a single.
Bugger. I remember him saying he wrote it.
Yup, he did do a cover of the title theme, with Eddie Van Halen joining in too. I know, I still own it on vinyl!😎

Little Dai-X
Never heard of it. And why does he have a great big X on his face?
...because the show and the main spacecraft is called X-Bomber? You did pick up on that, right?
That's a little chicken and egg. You know what my next question is going to be. ;)
Because it's wings are shaped like a bloody X! Happy now?
But there's no air in spa... I don't know who's trolling whom now. And all over an old kid's TV show. I'll just have to watch it one day. lol ;)
He's the wrong colour :( Red is not Burgundy... but he is still very cool.

You look like Larry's lost brother.
MENTSKIIIIIIIII
ace
damn, that is what you look like!
There's plenty of videos on this channel with me in front of a camera, you've had no excuse!
Apologies for scarring you for life.
Ok now I would like to see all of your man toys. Leave the flesh light out though. No one wants to see that.
