Thank you so much for this. This video really helped me a ton. But I did have a little issue carefully putting the seal around the drum on the adhesive, though. It seemed a lot easier in this video than it actually was, but I'm by no means close to a handyman. Also it may have helped to note the angle facing outward for the pulley. I didn't realize I had it on backwards and had to start all the way over from there. I hope I'm not sounding overly critical. Like I said earlier, this was a life saver. The instructions were so clear and gave plenty of in depth views of what exactly to do.

They always make it look super easily in the videos lol, 3-4 vice grips make this easy to get on.

@@ogrish76 Yeah, everyone else uses binder clips, clothes pins, and even vice grips. One guy in the comments said it was like putting a tire on. I've never seen anyone do it the way this guy did, but he was using a seal that fit on easily. Try your seal out first before doing it this way.

Done this many dozens of times, never removed the old glue, never had a problem just gluing the new one on and 3-4 vice grips will make your life a lot easier putting this on.

See my reply to you later down in the comments.
Edit: and for gods sake don't use vice grips here it has the potential to crush the lip of the drum where it is rolled on the edge. Use spring loaded clothes pins like shown or better yet small spring clips. They're .50c each at harbor freight.

@ogrish76 I'm doing this repair right now. Do we need to wait a day for the glue to dry or just the 20 minutes?

@@modernNeanderthal800 I just did mine I'd say let it dry over night. It took some tugging to get them in the right position when it came time to put it together it's not a place you want to mess up.

@@SlickArmor It didn't work so we threw it away and got a $600 dryer.

To remove the old glue, use a rotary tool with wire brush attachment. It worked like a charm to provide a clean surface with which to apply new adhesive.

@@ogrish76 don't be a slob hack, there is a reason you remove the old glue residue. It allows the felt to fully seat into the groove and you'll have no tight spots where the seal is pushed up from old glue deposits. That's the difference between a craftsman who is proud of his work or a hack who will wonder why his sloppy job only lasted 6 months. Take some pride in your work man.

One suggestion: put glue on a little as you go instead of covering the whole drum at once. When I got to the end where the felt was highest, the glue was a mess as I was trying to stretch the felt on.

The second most important step (first being to unplug the unit) is to PUT ON SOME DISPOSABLE RUBBER GLOVES before gluing the drum seal to the drum. That glue is seriously sticky, and once it's on your hands, it is a pain to get off. FWIW, using denatured alcohol and a green scotch pad and lots of scrubbing will give your a nice exfoliation wherever it was stuck on them. But save yourself the trouble and just put on a pair of disposable gloves first.
