I agree with you on Halloween Party. I am an Agatha Christie fan and couldn't believe how mediocre this story was. It almost felt as if someone else wrote it and slapped Agatha Christie's name on it. I read it in advance of the movie release which I haven't got around to watching yet. I actually read the movie tie-in edition and the screenwriter has a foreward in which he apologizes to Christie fans for changing the story for the film and transporting the characters to Venice. From your description, perhaps he needn't have apologized since he may have done Dame Agatha a favour. I didn't DNF last year despite a few opportunities because I am such a completist. I'll have to work on that.👽
Ah same on being a completist! Glad that a fellow Christie fan agrees with me :) yes the story in the movie is so different, you could argue it’s more simple than a true Christie story but at the same time better than Halloween Party
Aw sad you didn't love Beach Read! But glad you loved Book Lovers - it was my favourite too! I tried two of her other books and didn't love....aaah will give her latest book a try, but not sure if I'm jelling with her. And oh no not Daughter of the Moon Goddess 😆
Ahhh oh no 😂🙀 When I see a booktuber give a book I’m about to read a negative review, I usually fast forward that part to not get influenced too much LOL I hope I didn’t ruin your reading experience 😬
Incredible that you remembered ☺️ It was unfortunately not very successful 😂 but my OTHER sister is down to receive a reading list from me :) that might come in a few months
@@Nixreads I did feel The Stranger was worth reading. But just barely. If you are interested, the following is what I said in my review of it. I don't think I have any spoilers: This book is set in Algeria. The time isn't specified, but it appears to be somewhere between the early and mid-20th century. Algeria is still under French rule. The featured characters are all French. The book doesn't detail any native Algerians in depth. The protagonist is a man who kind of glides through life. He doesn't really think deeply before he does things. He has a job that he does well. Co-workers and friends like him. Early on, he becomes friends with an unsavory character and aids this character in doing something I found very disturbing. From then on, I really didn't like the protagonist. About halfway through the book, a crime is committed. The remainder of the book is the aftermath of the crime. Jail. A trial. The language in the book is beautiful. Descriptions of really hot days, beaches, the sky, etc. were very vivid. I could picture them. For me, this book was just okay. I was glad I read it. It doesn't make me want to search out more books by Camus.
I also read beach read and also didn’t like it. I didn’t feel the chemistry at all and found the main characters unlikeable. But I read people we meet on vacation and happy place. I really liked the book , especially happy place! 🪐🪐

I didn’t mind moon goddess, but the sequel I DNF’d.
I can’t really remember what else I DNF’d which really shows how forgettable they were!
Oh interesting! Looks like I’m indeed not missing out 😅

Ups 😂
I loved how the sister was such a central character in Book Lovers, maybe O need to read an Emily Henry with more than 2 central characters!
I just checked out Beach Read from my library so it made me giggle that it is the first one on the list. We will see how it goes. 👽👽👽

@@Nixreads oh goodness, no, you're fine. So far Beach Read is working for me! xoxo
👽 Will we be getting a video with your sister and her 3 reads soon?

🚀🚀🧑🚀
My two biggest disappointments were The Stranger by Albert Camus and From The Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne👽
Ohh really The Stranger? I haven’t read it yet but it’s on my TBR haha
I only read 80 Days Around the World by Jules Verne and it was fine, not great

@@stuartgriffin1001 oh I see! I do feel like people who love it recommend it as a character study, not much happen apparently
