      No problem 👍

    Hey Chris! Thank you for the insights! I have a guess that higher aspect wings feel twitchier because of their span, so they require stiffer mast. I experienced it with Fluid XXLH and Sirus XXL wings. I tried to ride them with aluminium mast and it was a nightmare, I couldn't find a balance and the twitchiness drove me crazy. However, everything changed completely once I switched to carbon HM mast. With this mast I felt a lot of control.

    • @christomo
      @christomo  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes I certainly would agree with you on that one,I would guess that with the xxl size wings it would make it somewhat twitchy depending on the wingspan and agree maybe to much movement in the mast for some people . Personally don't go above the 120cm wing span that gong recommends with the alu mast and find it stiff enough for me and unfortunately i would struggle justify the funds for a hm85 mast . However i don't find the curve XL H at all twitchy at 105cm wide the High aspect i tried was 102cm wide as it was a windy day so went on a smaller foil so not to bad, and it was on a carbon mast but the twitchiness for me that i'm thinking off is due to needing a lighter touch and skill-fully using the foil as a big 95kg guy i like to have a foil i can really push into when riding It's just what feels good to me . i'm sure the performance may be better the glide sure will be it's all a matter of taste .
      thanks so much for watching and your thoughts i think it is all so valuable helping each other with first hand information and help .

      @@christomo …. ordered a curve v2 large foil yesterday, also been using the large pro curve stab / short fuselage with the old large curve-T….works well, found I had to move the mast back 10mm or so.

      Thanks buddy, yes and I think local conditions budget and rider size and what you want to do plays a big part that's what makes it so interesting. Thanks for commenting. Have an awesome week 😀

    nice vid Chris! great job explaining how different foils work for different conditions. I have a foot on either side of the HA and MA line. def love them both and they both have their time and place. but the mids are so much more fun in waves. awesome, can't wait to see the next one. have an awesome day!!!

      Thanks for watching. Yes I can see the potential of the ha wings, but I'm heavy-handed, so I would need to practice more on them with a lighter touch
      Have a great week, speak soon, mate 👍

    forgot to mention I also have the Fluid XLH. It's got tremendous speed but not very nimble. Tried it in lighter winds but it does not lift like the Fluid XXLT does.

      A few people have said the same about the fluid h range the curve h seem to have way better bottom end and better turning capability Thanks ate have a good day

    Great video. I am looking for some advice on my next foil. I just learned on V1 gong gear, a Curve XL 92, 1900 cm. I am going to buy a new V2 foil. I can't decide between the Curve and the Curve H. I am 6'2" 215 lbs (97 kg). I have just started completing my jibes. I live on an island (outer banks, N.C.). Ocean on one side and bay on the other. I am hoping to progress into the ocean at some point and ride some waves on small days, but until then I just cruise in the bay. What foil do you recommend? Thanks

    • @christomo
      @christomo  Місяць тому +1

      @sandspursplinter5397 definitely go for the curve h xl I'm 95kg and have curve v2 large ok for bigger swell 5ft and i have curve h xl for small 2ft to 4ft waves winds 14kn to 30 kn no problem. And I have curve h xxl for 1.5ft to 3.5 ft waves 12 kn to 25kn slower but more lift and glide . Hope helps some .
      Thanks for watching bud and have a awesome week 😀

    Hey Chris. I ride Gong Fluid XXLT (1950 sq cm) been riding about a year. I also have the Curve XL (1900). Looking for a foil when I am a little more lit. I find the XXLT is great in light to medium conditions but as soon as I am too powered up keep breaching off the swell and I can gybe almost everytime from heelside to toeside but really struggle with riding toeside to heelside. almost always fall. I weigh about 190 pounds by the way. Which size front wing would you recommend? thanks

    • @christomo
      @christomo  Рік тому

      The new 2023 curves are good for higher winds. I have the Large.And im 200 pounds
      Tip for learning gybe both ways is don't think about easy side and hard side visulise the move, I belive your body needs to just learn , its muscle memory and you probably enjoy the side you can do and be frustrated with the other side . And probably give yourself a hard time on your weeker side dont . All just Time on the water
      I often have music playing to stop myself over thinking and let muscle memory take over . A waterproof mp3 can be bought for 30 euros/ pounds and helps me not overthink these moves. You can get them cheep on eBay . Don't have it so loud you can't here mates shouting tho lol
      . Also, try running yourself through the move off the water when you're making a cup of tea .
      Have a look at my footswap video .
      Have a great week, buddy. I hope it helps some

    Hi Chris, really enjoying the video footage. What size masts are you and the rest of the guys riding in the video out of interest and what is your go to size mast size?

    • @christomo
      @christomo  11 місяців тому +1

      Always 85 cm is a great size for wing enough height for choppy sea good all-rounder.
      For sup prone a shorter mast and kite a longer one but I think everyone at our spot is on 85cm or very close for wing.
      Thanks for kind comment 👍 😀 good winds Bud

    Hi, thanks for this video. My weight is 72kg and I want to buy a curve H and a curve normal fluid. I sail in 10 to 22 kts, with small swell in mediterranea sea. I have a 3m, 5m and 6.5m wings.
    Do you recommend me a xl curve H for 10 to 16kts and a L normal curve for 14 to 22 kts? Or different sizes?
    Thanks a lot!

    • @christomo
      @christomo  Місяць тому +1

      @ernestsentis personally I would get curve h xl for lower winds and curve h large or medium for higher winds I hardly use my normal verve as the swell waves are more fun on a more glide front wing so H the normal curve is only better to tight turn and when wave has some shape to surf for windswell 2 to 4ft curve h is better by far for me .
      I use shorter freestyle stab to make the h more agile as well

    • @ernestsentis
      @ernestsentis Місяць тому +1

      @@christomo Thanks a lot! So, for your opinion it's better to have the curve H in all conditions. Because you dont' use your normal curve front wing usually, because curve H it glides better in waves. I will try with the curve H in L size with it's own stab.

    • @christomo
      @christomo  Місяць тому

      @ernestsentis yes exactly 💯 curve h more glide for my conditions.
      I have friends who live and ride propper 6ft swell with shape and they like the normal lower aspect curve v2 as it turned better . So it depends on kind of waves you have . Hope that makes sense. I would but the bigger curve h first, try, then get a smaller one after trying

  • @samo-nx2pl
    @samo-nx2pl Рік тому +1

    Hey Chris, I am 70kg. Tell me if Curve H-L will be good for me also for light winds? Or I need XL?

    • @christomo
      @christomo  Рік тому

      I'm 95kg and can get going on the curve xl about 15 mph no problem . The top end is goid as well I've had mine out gusting to 40
      So your choice should be made on the usual wind strength of your area . If average is medium winds 20 to 30 go large if average is 12 to 25 go xl .
      Good rule go with the size you currently use the most 👌

    interesting chris , i hope you will try the fone eagle of your friend 😅, today i rided my 7 seas in prone foil and it's felt so sluggish compared to my sk8 950 . those new foil and ratio are crazy good.

    • @christomo
      @christomo  Рік тому +1

      Yes I will try his eagle for sure he is crazy fast on it for the wace I think the fone sk8 is the sweet spot for maneuverability just like the other mid aspects across different brands . Just my opinion. Like you when I go back to the 7 aspect it feels sluggish so I just use it for the big very windy days when I want a slower foil . Thanks for watching 👀 have a great week bro
