Anyone notice Dinah Shore run across the parking lot towards the back at around 0:44-0:46? And another sighting at about the 2:00 mark.

I noticed that too! I think Dinah has been following me around. I wonder if she’ll be in any future videos?

Whenever I take pics with this camera over 2000mm the pics are very grainy and blurry, even with a tripod and 100 ISO..

I agree, LISTEDGames. The depth of field is very shallow over 2000mm and at long distances the atmospheric distortions are really noticeable (amongst other factors). I always take lots of shots of the same picture because one is often much better than the others and I use the self timer to eliminate camera shake even on the tripod. I also recently started using an external monitor with full time focus peaking and that is really helping. Oh, and I really hate wind! :) There are lots of little things that can sometimes help. I should make a video about that.

Nice! What tripod must you use to keep the image from shaking @ 3000mm? What tripod head do you use?

Thanks, Dan! Unfortunately my tripod doesn't prevent shaking at higher zoom levels so I run my footage through mild image stabilization in Adobe After Affects or Premiere Pro. If anyone knows of a solid tripod for the P1000 then please let us know!

can i ask you a question please?
I bought a Nikon P1000 2 weeks ago, one thing I noticed is that in rooms/areas where there isn't much light, the LCD screen appears a bit "grainy". Is this normal in low light or should I be concerned?

You're likely just seeing the low light setting of the camera through the LCD which normally can look a little grainy. You could record while in a room with low light and then watch the video clip on another display. If the LCD and the other display look the same then your LCD is OK. Enjoy your P1000!

10 inch dob scope would blow your mind if you think a p1000 is good.. no telescopes are not made just for space even though thats the target

No doubt! I've actually been thinking about experimenting with a telescope for some terrestrial zooming.

How do you manage video shoot.. af issues with p1000. I just got the body 2 days back, and it struggles when focusing with video while zooming in. I had to turn off video acquire focus while half press the shutter release and turn on video. Can you share your settings or may e make a video for that. Thanks

Yes, autofocus when zooming in can be frustrating. You mentioned one solution. Mostly for me it's subtle repositioning and repetition that sometimes solves the problem. Or zoom out and play the video back backwards :)
