- Today, we're watching airplanes at Los Angeles International Airport in southern California from Clutter's Park with the Nikon COOLPIX P1000 ultrazoom camera. We'll zoom in at 3000mm to see aircraft up close and we'll see and hear the Kalitta Air 747 and the Atlas Air 747 taking off about 1,200 feet away! See what it's like to watch airplanes from Clutters Park.

Yeah i had the privilege of flying on a 747 and even with bad turbulence over the Bering sea it was a very smooth ride!! Awesome video!!

That's great that you're going to get a P1000! I also enjoy zooming in on planes at cruising altitude which you can do from almost anywhere.

Hello and thanks for the feedback! It was pretty dark and cloudy that day, so I think I made some adjustments to the video in post-production. Brightness and sharpness I think.

I think I lightened the video a little in post as it was a cloudy day and I also tend to stabilize video clips in post. As for which camera is better... other than focal length, that's a whole other video of pros and cons :)

Bud how long does battery last filming 4k with this camera?
l have not measured how long I can record on a single battery, but it seems to be as long as other cameras that I have used. But it really depends on how much zooming you do. Lots of zooming through the huge 25mm to 3000mm focal length range will eat up batteries fast.

BTW, I found the video recording time in the operating manual. It's 1 hour and 20 minutes when using the battery that comes with the camera. But I expect that zooming a lot will cut that down.

Thanks, Aatif G.! I checked my pictures from that day and unfortunately I didn't find anything. I post lots of pictures in the articles that I write on my website, but it looks like I was shooting mostly video that day.
