0:14 I finally see an EMD DC to AC in normal NS colors. I've only seen images of the yellow and gray ones (and one in person) 0:39 an SD60E with a grabber in a gondola! 5:26 nice to see a BN green SD60M in front of two yellow GMTX slugs I've never heard of before! 5:56 wow! Two tier 4 EMDs and an F125 in Indiana! is some commuter road in the east testing the F125? And why is the tier 4 freight unit still called an SD70? Shouldn't it be an SD74? 7:09 wow, ten locos! 9:54 WOW! an Alaska unit in Washington State! 10:58 3252 and 3253 must be on their first run! They're emissions credit units (a tier 3 ES44C4 built in 2020) made from parts of older locomotives 11:12 wow, MoPac 1982 on BNSF tracks
That NS Herzog train. I saw that go past work same locomotives. It traveled pretty far, from Altoona Pa to a branch line in WV called the Winding Gulf, they dumped it up around the mines there I believe, strange seeing 3 locomotives on a train no to mention seeing them on a loaded ballast train heading north, usually only loaded trains head south here.
5:27 - SD60M still in BN paint with high headlight, too bad BNSF paints over the USA flag 5:55 - I believe those T4s were going to NS, but thy got Ace credit units instead 10:10 - Looks like Alaska did some heavy mods to that loco, but the engineer gets a porch over his rear window!
That Cat operator better be getting paid a lot of that job. Very good set of skills to be operating that while on a moving train. I was about afraid he would tip a car over or fall off the train
0:48 Oh, I've seen this happen by my house! Around a month later, they came by and replaced a bunch of ties. Guess that'll be something to watch soon. Aw, shame the virus situation is a thing right now. Visitors would've loved watching that.
As a rookie railfanner, I make sure that VR is part of my daily viewing routine, so thanks for such a great channel! And because I'm still new at this, can I ask why they don't replace wood ties with concrete? I'd think that would be less maintenance in the long run? Thanks for any responses.
I'm probably going to get flak for this, but I'm beginning to not enjoy VR at the Horseshoe Curve. That Geep just sitting there rusting away is beginning to really get me down.... Fantastic video otherwise! Always love one of them 10 or so loco trains 👍
The top light is their wig-wag ditch lights. During the winter the snow can be so deep or falling so heavily that snow fog can form and be too thick to see on the regular places that ditch lights are and thus they put them on top.
I bet the guy at 3:55 got his start by winning many of “claw games” at the arcade
Maybe he was one of those three characters on the bottom of the arcade game at Pizza Planet.
For an industry that emphasizes safety as much as the railroad, that's a pretty astonishing thing to see.
That excavator is on some next level stuff

Why on those two tier 4s are the long hoods different..? One looks like a standard what would that be tier 3?
3:40 if you told me that's how you're day went I wouldn't have believed you.
Why am I not too surprised that the Excavator clip is at the Curve 😂 I love that.
4:40 Ok, I want to see Lionel make a working tie unloader in any scale.
Aggravation is waiting all day for the ten engine lash up at Ashland...and it shows up while I was at a doctor appointment (via phone. ).
Operating a crane on a moving train and going from car to car? That's wizard level stuff.
And that's just his day job!
Awesome mirror shine 10:57, entertaining grab bag!
I could tell right from the thumbnail that this is a pretty nice GrabBag!
10:56 They've still got that new train smell, I bet they don't even have a Black Ice tree hanging from the rearview mirror yet.
This was a jaw-droppingly excellent grab bag!
Excellent stuff !!!
Why does NS like to have their heirtege units trailing backwards all the time?
Conrail Gp-40 Guy I don’t know, only one HU I’ve seen was facing forwards and it still wasn’t leading.
You have a point, yesterday I caught one unexpectedly, but it was the third of three engines in the consist 😆
6:57 this video NPR HU leading the way!!
That Southern Heritage Unit needs a Wash !
Wow. Incredible stuff. Love the two MOW’s at Horseshoe Curve.

At 8:00 thse are 10 locomotives??

Those Alaska units came from EMD that way.
Probably a snow shield. The Canadian railways want them too.
0:38 *pure* SAVAGE. And that SD60 up front just makes it all better 😂
Isn''t it time someome repaired the paving at Elkhart?
Great job guys, one of your best!
The 10 headed beast at about 8 min sounded like only 3 or 4 were awake.
No sense wasting gas if you don’t need the power.
@@douglasskaalrud6865 but imagine how fast it would accelerate if that had run all of them
I have seen many heritage units in trail not many leading. Well I have seen Empire Service locomotives lead.
What happened to today's family on tracks video??
In the interest of safety looks like an accident waiting to happen unloading the ties.
Ken J not if he’s skilled
I copy that...
Just like Mom always said, "It's fun until someone's eye gets poked out."
That's how R,J, Corman got started!! Lol. Crawled one into a car of ties, and started to unload em!! Wasn't moving tho.😎
that was a very good ol' one day grab bag for sure
I saw NS ES44AC #8099 (The Southern Railway Hertige Unit) at Horseshoe Curve last Summer.
That Cat operator better be getting paid a lot of that job. Very good set of skills to be operating that while on a moving train. I was about afraid he would tip a car over or fall off the train
I wonder why the Metrolink F125 was going East?
was that a GE or EMD loco on the rail tie train?
Hard working people. Amazing.
0:48 Oh, I've seen this happen by my house! Around a month later, they came by and replaced a bunch of ties. Guess that'll be something to watch soon. Aw, shame the virus situation is a thing right now. Visitors would've loved watching that.
I think its safe to say that CSX train in Ashland isn't in any danger of stalling anywhere....
Horseshoe curve, when are those lines going tog et concrete ties???
Love those Herzog ballast droppers
Wonder what happened to Metrolink 939
As a rookie railfanner, I make sure that VR is part of my daily viewing routine, so thanks for such a great channel! And because I'm still new at this, can I ask why they don't replace wood ties with concrete? I'd think that would be less maintenance in the long run? Thanks for any responses.
10:57 Those are some *fresh* units
Why R they using timber🇺🇸 instead Concrete sleepers ? From Australia 🇦🇺
Cheaper..$$
"Sleepers"...and here I've been calling them 'Ties ' all these years. Lol
Why not? Gotta keep MOW employed.
Some of the railways in the UK are now using recycled and reinforced plastics for there sleeper/ties/track supports.
I wonder if wooden and concrete sleepers aren't compatible dimension wise.
What kind of train is thst @ 7:15?
12:15 I spy with my little eye something that is White.
12:23 It's Olaf the Snowman!
Unloading new replacements for the rail line it looks like
I'm probably going to get flak for this, but I'm beginning to not enjoy VR at the Horseshoe Curve. That Geep just sitting there rusting away is beginning to really get me down....
Fantastic video otherwise! Always love one of them 10 or so loco trains 👍
Our Health & Safety in the UK would have a fit if they saw sleepers(ties) dropped like that. Great operator.
9:58 wait thats illegal
S Trenes Perú what?
What’s not allowed
Oh I think i see,the light is messed up
1. Light is messed up
2. It's from Alaska (lease unit)
The top light is their wig-wag ditch lights. During the winter the snow can be so deep or falling so heavily that snow fog can form and be too thick to see on the regular places that ditch lights are and thus they put them on top.
Waddafuks a grab bag? I want to learn.
This is good grab bag of trains
What a big lashup in Ashland,VA
Amazing Video
🏵️🏵️🇮🇳🏵️🏵️
OSHA look away. This video is not for you.
I was thinking the same... They would definitely frown on that...
@@KaosK9 I'm surprised that NS sits still for it.
@@christopherhelms7290 eh.. I've heard NS is pretty lazy lol
Revelstoke ??
This was a good one!
Really nice.
My man here has an excavator on a moving train going from car to car
Lol, BNSF is always ordering new GEVOs!
hii,pls highlight the things which you want to saw when you pause a Vedio thanks.
That sure does look like some kind of OSHA violation.....🤫
Great stuff
Wow up heritage and a meet
Nice
Wonder if the hoe operator has to pay for all of those ties that he screws up with the grapple?
10.. train engin....
Looks like good stuff happened on my birthday 😉
Olaf just made this very awkward for me
Metrolink rules
no health and safety there.
